Stayed 1 week in October 2022. Super popular with domestic market, expect lots of day use from locals and Jakartan families during weekend. The place resembles a huge kiddie club and day use beach club rather than the once charming hotel it was in previous years. If you are looking for privacy and uncrowded public spaces then this is not for you. Overpriced as well. Hoards of people during breakfast time. Breakfast food items mediocre at best. Also unappealing presentation cantina style. Kid's events hosted for outside organizations held frequently. Very shallow main pool with luke warm to hot water as a result, instead of refreshing cool. All in all not worth the money.

Dear Gerald, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Segara Village Hotel. Please accept our sincere apologies for your unpleasant experience during your stay with us. Even though our restaurant is fully book most of the time, as our restaurant is considered the most favorite dining destination in Sanur Area, our in-house guest has always been our priority and our service associates are more than happy to welcome and assist you. We understand and aware that not all of our guests are happy with the major changes we have made to the restaurant and the beach area facilities. However, our internal guest survey shows that majority of our guests give a very positive and welcoming feedback especially with the upgrade quality of the food, the services, the overall ambiances as well as the competitive F&B prices. We highly value your feedback so that we may continually enhance our services and products. Should you decide to give us another opportunity to restore your faith in us, we would be very grateful if you could contact us by email at info@segaravillage,com Warm Regards, Segara Village Management

We have been to Bali more than 20 times over the years, and first started staying at this hotel in 1986 and, having most recently stayed there just prior to covid, we were looking forward to seeing how things had changed after Bali had re-opened. On arrival, we were "upgraded" to a room in Village 2 which veteran patrons of the place will recall as a secluded quiet area around a nice pool. There are about 24 villas in the area, but ten of them, each of the two storey places overlooking the pool, have fallen into sad disrepair with holes in the thatched roofing and collapsed ceilings. Our room, whilst adequate, was in real need of upgrading if management wants to get serious about lifting their star rating. We asked some of the staff about any plans for refurbishment, and they weren't aware of any in the foreseeable future. One of the things which kept on bringing us back to the hotel was the fabulous staff, and management seemed to recognise that in the past by retaining some of the people with whom we had become friendly, employing them as Guest Relations people, which worked really well and probably helped to generate many return bookings. Now there is just Suryati left in charge of the restaurant, and we feel that the place has lost its soul. Whilst the Byrd Cage has been completed and looks great, the hotel has marketed very strongly to the, generally, younger local set, and this seems to have worked for them, at least on the weekends, when the place was quite crowded....and noisy! Weekdays were quiet, and almost without patronage. Those who were there seemed on the most part to have come for the first time from Europe. It has long been my experience that the best people to market to are repeat customers who are familiar with your product. Other than at breakfast, the noise of the music was so bad that we took to eating along the beachfront, mostly Tootsies next door, so that we could have a good, peaceful meal with a wide range of well prepared food at significantly cheaper prices. We found Segara Village to be quite boring and without the soul that we used to enjoy so much. There are many other places along the beach strip which we would be happy to revisit on our next visit to Sanur.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Segara Village Hotel. Our team strives to deliver a warm and genuine experience through every detail and your input is invaluable in helping us to grow better each day. Please always be encouraged to speak your concern during stay with our operational staff. We would be more than happy to assist and ensure that your stay was spent comfortably. We appreciate your feedback and it has been shared with the team for improvement. During the pandemic, we are also aiming to broaden our market segment for both hotel and restaurant by catering the needs of local communities and other markets for a great place to stay and hangout in Sanur. This is where the new Byrd House comes into highlight as a unique dining destination in Sanur as it is not only covers Food and Beverages area but also wellness and activities programs as well as children community school and day care. We are proud to be part and to take part of the Sanur communities. Thank you for choosing Segara Village to care for your stay in Sanur and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. The resort is beautiful and clean. The same you can say about the bungalows. The staff was amazingly nice and helpful. The beach is very nice but the water is very shallow. The restaurant and the patisserie are beautiful and the food and drinks are delicious, but expensive. The included breakfast buffet had a huge variety, but in our opinion nothing tasted really good. If you want a late checkout be aware, that it is very expensive.

We have stayed here before and absolutely loved it. We were excited to return this month. The prices went up which was understandable. We got a deluxe room which was ok, guite small and dark, nowhere to put the towels after a shower., nowhere to hang clothes after returning from the pool. The pools were always full which I couldn’t understand since it was not fully booked the hotel. Later I found out, this expensive hotel is open for public! Anyone pays $20 and can swim in the pool! We paid over $2500 for our stay and I didn’t want to swim with the Balinese public. We got sick after 2 days. Balinese cough, which we got antibiotics for. This is should not be a public pool. That’s why the restaurant was always full, at 6 pm couldn’t even booked a table to have dinner. The music in the restaurant is very loud all day, if you looking for a quite resort that’s not the one anymore. The kids area is great. New playground, new kids pool. Breakfast buffet is ok, after 3 days, you wonder what to eat anymore. Same food everyday with small changes. There pizza is delicious that was the best food. Everything overpriced. We still try to enjoy our stay, but next time we going to stay at griya santrian where we stayed before. Overall if you looking for a quite Balinese style in house quest only resort, this is not the one for you.

Stayed here 4 years ago and it was a beautiful resort friendly smiling staff great breakfast and balinese music played each morning by traditional band. Now it is just a large impersonal Hotel geared mainly towards families with children. My room was very small and dark given 2 teabags each day, quality shampoo, conditioner and soap has been replaced by liquid refills in containers. Used smaller pool where 2 ducks swam and seemed to make their home at night. Hotel has lost its charm very expensive and will not be returning.

When we booked this hotel, we actually had another hotel in mind. What a nice mistake, we were pleased with this hotel instead! Wonderful green and lush ground, great swimming pools, nice staff all around, good and affordable foods at the restaurant/cafe by the beach. And yes, it’s right on the beach as well! Had the Bungalow room, very nice and comfortable bed, great bathroom and amenities, although we had issues with electricity and until we checked out they still couldn’t figure out why some lights kept shutting down. Will definitely stay here again the next time we choose to visit Sanur!

This was our 4th visit to Segara Villlage over 25 years and it has changed considerably since our last visit. We stayed in Bungalow 441 and was 3 star at best. The blinds in the bathroom were an absolute disgrace! They were broken and peeling, with slats bent and extremely dusty. The shower also leaks out onto the bathroom floor, which means the bathmat is always dripping wet after a shower. The air conditioning needs renewing as existing one is extremely old , very noisy and thermostat does not work properly. The rope lighting above the bed would stay dimly lit at night even when switched off at the switch, which made it difficult to sleep. This bungalow needs to be renovated and cant believe we paid over $200 per night to stay there. No offer of a new room was given by reception staff when I complained. When we arrived we were given 2 free drink vouchers, which I thought was a nice touch, until we found out they were for cordial punch drinks. The breakfast buffet was equally disappointing. Omelettes were made swimming in oil with the end result an oily Omelette. The hot food was barely luke warm . I informed the Hostess every morning, but no change was made. By the last morning we were there we had boiled eggs, because that would come out fresh and hot. We were not the only ones disappointed with the breakfast. Other guests we spoke to were eating breakfast elsewhere, even though breakfast was included in their room rate. The swim up Jacuzzi bar we had such fond memories of from previous visits was not working. I found out later that the Jacuzzi jets have not been fixed since covid shut down began! The beautiful Balinese foyer I remember has been demolished and ugly modern fountains put in in its place, which takes the traditional bali feel away from Segara. More often than not we could not get a seat around either pool as people would throw their towels on the lounges early in the morning before breakfast, which is not fair to the rest of the guests. The day use visitors that came in on the weekends made the pools even busier and incredibly noisy. We gravitated to the smaller pool (when we could get a lounge ) and had to share this with the ducks that swam in it continually, which is highly unhygienic. This pair of ducks live onsite and should be re-homed somewhere else. We have visited quite a few times over the last 25 years and feel that Segara is overpriced and now geared towards families with young children. There is much better value for money at the many beach resorts along the beachfront. The only positive experience we had was at the Byrdhouse restaurant which is beautiful and served lovely meals for lunch and dinner. No attempt has been made by Segara Village to reply to an email I sent 3 weeks ago advising them of the problems with our stay. We will not be going back .

I was disappointed in our room as very small and not much storage space. We had 2 single beds which were so close as to be in the same bed. That said I did love this hotel, the grounds were just beautiful and immaculately maintained. The foliage and plants were so tropical and really made for a feeling of relaxation. The pools were amazing, we spent most of the time in the smaller pool which we really enjoyed, especially the two ducks that also swam there, please don't chase them away, they were so lovely to see around the grounds. I found the breakfast ok but we both found everything to be cold everyday even though we went with plenty of time before it finished. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Plenty of places along the beachfront for meals and spas. The patisserie attached to the hotel was great for a special treat. I would definitely stay here again but don't think with the closeness of the beds I would want to share so that would prohibit me from staying.

This is my third stay at Segara Village. I have been extremely pleased with my stays in the past, hence coming back again this year; the atmosphere was cozy and home-like though it had the size and the amenities of a 4 star resort, people working here would greet me and my family by name always with a smile, making us feel welcome. This time though something has completely changed and it has been a very different experience from check-in until now, halfway through our stay of 8 days. Check-in: Upon check-in, though not at all full, and despite my early reservation, we got a poorly located room with a tiny terrace and a dull view. Upon request the reception changed the room. The room (deluxe room): The room itself does not live up to a 4-star hotel; interior is ourdated and worn-out, the curtains are stained, the bathroom facilities though size is alright, are extremely basic, the bed is very hard. Breakfast: Breakfast is, to be honest, a frustrating part of the stay due to the confusion amongst staff, the waiting time from order until serving (though only few other guests having breakfast), half of our orders have been consistently forgotten, they double check us if we are staying at their hotel for every breakfast… The score of 2 is given based on the overall experience being average/below average and as the price does not at all correspond with that.

We loved our week at Segara Village in a deluxe room. A quirky bathroom layout but a good sized room with excellent shower. Well serviced daily. Gorgeous pools, stunning gardens. The staff are what make it so good. Always smiling and ready to help. The decked area on the beach is great at any time. Breakfast - perfectly adequate buffet.
