It was quite hard to get the info we needed re room occupancy for Segara. We requested two separate rooms with king beds and no shared bathrooms. As it eventuated, we were assigned a "bungalow", two separate rooms, with own bathrooms and own entrances, the top room hung over the verandah of the underneath room.It had steep steps to the bed without railings but ceiling to floor windows on all sides. I had a look at other room types, all were of good standards. These are lovely bungalows.Segara was having renos done but that did not affect our stay. There are three big pools, the one in the most original area of rooms suited us best as it was a bit cooler than the other pools. None of them were cool enough for us Australians. The grounds are meticulously maintained and are beautiful. There were small pagodas to sit and wile away some time, fragrant aromas, lush greenery, stone features and water figurine fountains covered in ferns and moss.
Attention to detail in our rooms was very satisfactory, robes, slippers, toiletries, coffee/tea (only sachets of milk powder) and bottled water, a safe, excellent aircon and plentiful hot water.
There were a couple of minor repairs needed to both rooms.Bathrooms had glass doors and lavish curtains for privacy. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and included with the room rates, catering for European, Asian and English tastes. There were even cornflakes for the stick- in- the- muds! It was served smorgasbord style, eggs cooked to your liking. No one should complain about the food. There's a swim up bar for happy hour drinks, hopefully you wont strike the raucous Germans.
The hotel has direct access to the beach and the beach area has many cafes/ restaurants and small shops. The beach is attractive but do not expect Australian style. The tide whisks in and out quite quickly, it's a bit rocky and sand is full of coral and shell grinds, too tricky to walk on and feet sink into it.
Segara is a lovely stay.

Dear Gorgeouss, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Segara Village Hotel We are very happy to hear that you had a wonderful stay with us. As a resort, Segara Village is a hidden sanctuary offering an elevated experience with style without leaving its Balinese core of touch. Besides, we are committed to deliver a memorable and enjoyable time during your visit and we trust that our team had well pampered your stay with us. Indeed, that at the moment we are doing a significant transformation to our restaurants as well as our beach facilities and we believe that the outcome will bring more future enjoyment to our guests. Your feedback on the recent experience with us had been shared with the team, as for the feedback of the room and beach you were sharing. This has been shared to our Executive Housekeeper to note as a point to consider while we review the overall facilities and services available for our guests. Sanur beach is generally suitable and safe for swimming during tides with appropriate height. The water can be quite shallow during the low tide, hence it exposes corals and seabed. However when the water goes up it turns very beautiful. We keep our guests up-dated with a daily tide charts to help them plan their day. The beautiful compliments you gave for our breakfast, room and staff are deeply appreciated. These have shared to our dedicated team and have accepted with a grateful feeling. Thank you for choosing Segara Village Hotel and we look forward to create another wonderful experiences with you again in the future. Warm Regards, Management Segara Village Hotel

We knew renovations were happening but still chose to stay here. Segara is a beautiful resort, lovely well maintained gardens and amazing staff. The renovations only had a very minimal impact on our stay. To clarify apart from walking past a fully screened off area to get to the beach and restaurant you still had use of the pools, rooms were quiet with no noise from the reno's. The larger pool facing the beach could still be used but this was screened off to the work going on that was on either side of the pool. Having said that with other pools on offer it was not an issue and you could still swim in this pool if you chose. When the reno's are complete I look forward to staying again. Please note that there is no way the reno's are on schedule and will not be finished by the estimated time. We were upgraded to a bungalow room and it was lovely. Huge spacious bathroom with bathtub! Air conditioning works extremely well. The resort grounds are stunning with guinea fowl, chooks, ducks and squirrels always seen. The rabbits are also worth visiting. Fresh water refills are spread throughout the resort and afternoon tea is a simple spread available each afternoon for guests. The location of the resort is very good. I am a frequent traveller to Bali and Sanur in particular and have stayed in more properties than I can count in Sanur. Segara has a good location. There are numerous local market shops, massage ladies, plenty of good local warungs for eating out, money changers, a good path for walking / riding bikes and easy to get transport if you want to venture out and about. I would recommend Segara.

This is an older hotel that is spread in a very big area so the hotel has a big well kept garden in it. At the garden they have caged bunnies, several chicken, and even turkeys roaming around but they never seem to harm the guests. The hotel rooms have been renovated so they are nice and new looking. The other parts of the hotels are still under renovation however they have kept it going quite neatly so it does not disturb the guests too much. The downside is that you would not be able to have the view from the main swimming pool.

The lobby is quiet, and offers good seats allowing guests to just chill there without the feeling of sitting at a hotel lobby. Perhaps that is because the reception is some 20 meters away from the lobby so one would not be disturbed too much about cars leaving and arriving.
The breakfast area is now hosted on the beach which is very nice. From the restaurant area you can just walk along the beach that connects one restaurant after another. On weekends the locals do go to the beach too to enjoy themselves and there are plenty of food sellers on the beachside.

For a small amount you can take a taxi to go to main part of Sanur for more choices of restaurants or gelato or some shopping.

if I am asked for a suggestion, that will be for the hotel to put up some gentle background music because the whole place feels very quiet in the evening. However my husband liked it just the (quiet) way it is. :-))

I would recommend this hotel , or would come an stay here again in the future.

Quite remiss of me not to have written this review earlier, but all good things come to those that wait!!
This was our second visit to Segara, first one 22 years ago, and I must say we could not fault anything. We stayed in the Adults(Segara Village 2) only section which is away from the main pool but it has is own pool. Quite shaded but also very quite. Our room was adequate and very clean, large bathroom with seperate shower and bath. Great amenities.Large TV and small lounge. Outside nice patio with small lounge. You can also order food and drinks from here. Turn down service and nighty chocolate on pillow. Also with this accomodation you receive free afternoon tea and nightly cocktails with canapes for 2 hours and you can choose to have breakfast either at buffet or in the Birdhouse Beach Club. A great deal.
Food was delicious in all the different oulets, the patisserie especially, and all resonably priced. Service can be a bit slow in restaurant on beach but who's in a hurry.
Had a spa treatment there as well, was ok but the girls doing the massages in front on beach were great . Yes you do get hassled but thats their way of getting business. Just be polite.
The main pool in village was quite large with plenty of sun lounges and food and drink services. Beach if front has net and is very clean.
Evening there was music of all sorts in the Beachhouse, lovely sitting outside watching the world go by sipping cocktails.
There is a long paved walk way along the length of beach with numerous cafes, bars, shops and massage places. Was ideal for my husband who uses a mobility scooter which attracted a lot of interest from the locals.
The village itself is quite large, with beautiful gatdens, another smaller pool with swim up bar and another pool again. Childrens play area, birds and bunnies in a cage, and the resident rooster with his brood.
The staff, well they are all adorable, friendly, helpful and cant do enough for you. The girls at the bfast buffet would see us comiing and run to get a cushion for my husband.
We did a few tours but having been there before were happy to relax in this lovely setting. I really dont think you could de better either for couples of family.
Yes will will return but not wait 22 years again.

We stayed at the Seagara March 4-8th for the first part of our trip to Bali as first timers. We were immediately impressed upon our arrival. We got in at 11:30pm and arranged for a driver to pick us at the airport through the hotel. Our driver was there with a sign and was very friendly. Once we got to the hotel, we were warmly greeted by staff.

We stayed in a bungalow and were very satisfied with the clean, spacious rooms. They had it decorated to a very nice Balinese style with robs, amenities, free water and natural bath supplies. The resort basks lush, immaculate flowers and trees. We were duly noted of the remodeling towards the beach of the main pool area (which was both quiet and didn’t effected our stay). While I wish it didn’t completely block the view to the beach, I know it’ll make the resort look even better when finished.

Our room included daily breakfast by the beach (which I didn’t know when I booked so that was awesome) and we ate at it every morning. It was delicious and had a variety of options from American/European styles, cheeses, plenty of juices and sweets, fruits, veggies and accompaniments. The view was really pretty considering how most of people doesn’t have the best beaches. It was clean and had a nice view of the Nusa islands at Mount Agung. This was the only restaurant available but we were. Wet happy.

The resort is beautiful, has three pools and excellent guest services. There was fresh water for your use and great big beach towels. You were given a complimentary reusable bag as well. I would like to say how much we loved Dayu in guest services/restaurant. We booked two trips through here and had an amazing time. She greeted us daily by name and always had a smile and answer to any questions we had. She was one of the most kind people I have met in Bali, thank you! However, all staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered room service at night and it was delicious and quick. The area is safe and had a nice access to walks down the beach to different markets and restaurants. We loved how close it was to take the boats to the Nusa islands as well.

We loved our time here and highly recommend to anyone considering. We will be certain to stay again when we come back to Bali!

We had been informed of the renovations going on which was good .
Third time here and trying another type of room due to issues before and had mixed feelings from the start .
Very noisy when walking . Seemed like false floors and it echoed from adjoining rooms , even when wearing ear plugs .
Door also didn't seal well .
Apart from that the room wasn't bad.
The spa pool where you cocktails in the afternoon was great until all the kids turned up and used it like a slash bath .
So my cocktail ended up with pool water in it and phone wet . So I gave up on the idea. Informed the bar staff I wasn't happy but what will they do .
Breakfast is served on the deck near the beach which was nicer than the normal spot .
Just be careful some of the wooden flooring is uneven . I watched a elderly lady get stuck and stagger forward to a table .
Getting in late to our room we had a issue with our safe being locked and was told we would have to wait till the morning for it be opened by the manager . This wasn't acceptable in my opinion .
Would i come back . Don't think so .
Their confirmation email for the booking stipulates children over 14 years only .
That's the reason we came here .
We spend time with our children and grand children at another hotel then come here for peace . This we did not get.

Dear Ratio399, Thank you for the time you have taken to leave comments on the Tripadvisor. We are very sorry to hear that your recent experience at Segara Village did not meet your expectation. Your feedbacks pertaining the room, the cocktail experience, the wooden floor on the breakfast area and the locked of your safe have been shared to the management and have noted for the future improvement. As for the information you received pertaining the children policy, we do apologize for the inconvenience this information may have caused you. Segara Village is a family friendly hotel, which means that the hotel is allowed for kids. However, we have one category called “The Segara @ Village 2” (Club room) where kids are not allowed in this category area. This information is mistakenly updated by one of our online travel agents. We truly appreciated your comments and We hope that you will give us another chance to welcome you back at Segara Village Hotel. Warm Regards, Management Segara Village Hotel

This turned out to be a great resort with a real Balinese feel to it. The bungalow room was excellent and huge for one person (I paid for deluxe but was upgraded on arrival). Staff were great and friendly and I was very well looked after.
The buffet breakfast was fantastic in range and quality, Indonesian food at dinner was great but don't bother with the pizza.
Locations is good, not just because it is on the beach but there are plenty of other places to eat and shop nearby. Only a short walk to several good coffee places, ATM, decent money exchange and even Maccas.
There is an issue with getting transport out of the hotel as locals control access to the road and discourage ride sharing and taxi services. Getting a driver from Hotel to other end of Sanur cost me 200k but I could walk 50m up the road and get a Grab (ride share like Uber) for 40k.
There is extensive renovations currently at the Resort which is well advertised however is a bit misleading when it says "the rest of the facilities remain open". This actually means that the three restaurants are served in the same seating area on the beach and the largest pool is boxed in on four sides by construction with work men on roofs overlooking the pool. This didn't really effect me because I wasn't there during the day.

Planned to have a short beach -related stay after long flight before moving on. The hotel is a beach front location, still renovation of the pool area spoiled the best impression and also the accomodation is a bit far from beach, only restaurants on the beach. Restaurant prices surprised us as they seemed to be very expensive. It is a quality hotel, friendly stuff, nice breakfast and pool. The picture on the advertising still is confusing because there is renovation going on. We expected slightly different accommodation according to that. For those who like big territories might be ok. Nice garden, The beach still not very swimable. Food market close. Stiill, knowing the real situation, I would skip Sanur now.

Dear Karin K, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review on the Tripadvisor. Please accept our sincere apologizes for the inconvenience you may have experience due to the renovation we are doing at the resort. We are on the process of making a significant transformation to our beach club, which we believe this will bring a better future enjoyment to our guest. These have also been shared to the hard working team and they have received this with a grateful feeling. Once again thank you for choosing Segara Village Hotel and hopefully we could get another chance to have you stay back, so that we can serve you better in the future. I have stayed at the resort 4 times, also once during Covid and renovations. First of all the checkin staff did not see in their system that I stayed here a bunch of times (they asked me to fill in a new form; when I told them I stayed there before, they found my name and details). I booked a studio (room 441) which is in the back of the resort, up a lot of steps (with walls where the paint is peeling off).

The studio itself is fine inside, comfy beds, pillows, clean. BUT until around midnight there is a lot of live music noise from a bar behind the resort. This should be better tackled by the resort with higher walls and trees or something; or better managed (with the Banjar perhaps).

The Byrd house, pool and kids area have had quite a major renovation and the lunch and dinner food is nice. Breakfast options are aplenty but the guy manning the egg station makes super oily and carelessly prepared eggs and omelettes; when I asked him to put more care into his work he made a nice proper omelette for me but continued his shoddy work for the other omelettes. My wife, who does not eat beef, specicially asked for an omelette with no beef; what did she get; you guessed it right: an omelette with beef. So the egg station guy does not care at all about dietary requirements. Multiple times the coffee are ran out of cups, saucers, milk; staff don’t pay attention nor seem to care. Only the old lady does, who was the only face I remembered (it looks like besides a renovation, most staff are new to the resort; the care and attention for details and their work that used to be there is not there anymore. I was offered machine coffee a couple of times instead of the hotel coffee but when I ordered it on the beach during breakfast hours, I was charged for the coffee! I had to argue upon checkout to get it removed from the bill; initially the restaurant staff refused to remove it, saying it was from different beans. Which is not correct because the day prior I had gotten machine coffee from the same coffee machine from the restaurant as part of the breakfast without being charged. I sat almost next to the coffee machine! In the end it was removed but the whole process took 15 minutes.

A nice touch was that after we checked out, the hotel staff weighed my suitcases so we would not get surprised at the airport. I have never seen this service and recommend this to any hotel.

When I stayed staff said they had a memo saying end of May for completion. However during my stay there in March it was evident that construction had a long way to go. I would suggest anyone wishing to get further details on renovations to e mail the resort directly. Here is the current information posted on the Segara website regarding renovations ------------------------------- "RENOVATION NOTICE We are excited to announce that from 01 November, 2019 – 30 June 2020 our Byrdhouse Beach Club will undergo significant revamp in order to enhance our guest’s future experience. The newly design Beach Club will provide an ultimate lifestyle experience in Sanur. During this renovation, the work will commence from 8 am – 5 pm daily with the level of noise from medium – high. Heavy work is expected from 10 am – 5 pm and the intermittent noise is expected during weekends and public holiday. During this period, the resort and the rest of its facilities remain open except Tennis Court. All of the guest's rooms are located well away from the project area. Please be assured that the project team is committed to balancing our guest's need and the requirement of the project. Our priority is to minimize disruption to our guests. Temporary shelter for breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. All other remaining facilities and services will not be affected by this refurbishment program and will resume as normal. ----------------------------------------

"August can be a bit windy in Sanur. Rainy in December. You may need beach rock shoes as the beach has a lot of very sharp shells & coral."
