I'm gonna start with few good things. The rooms are so big, the gardens are lovely and also clean swimming pool. The room was also clean. The location is great. The beds and pillows are so hard, the WiFi connection is so weak, not even enough to send messages by WhatsApp. The lights on my rooms wasn't working, just 1 of 4. No light outside. The room was so dark. In my opinion is not a good place for young people. Was just old people there fighting to get the best sun bed, they have their own spots and if you sit in one they will kick you out saying that the sunbed belong to another couple. Breakfast didn't offer that much of things. Orange juice, coffee, tea, bread, rice and noodles and few fresh fruit.
After 5 emails not replied to one should have been wary. I had asked for a ground floor room if possible due to weak leg muscles but was accomadated on the first floor even though tthe hotel was less than half full. My disappointment didnt stop there The pool we overlooked was green not fit to swim in. No one did. We asked for a fridge one was put into the room with rusted seal and frame NO KETTLE Whats a girl like without her early coffee Breakfast was very very average with no change whilst we were there Internet very weak Bath mat only changed once in 5 days Used cups left for days at the bottom of the stairs NOT MINE as I never had any On the whole totally below par
Personally, I found the hotel staff, decour, and location to be excellent. Everything is within walking distance...restaurants, bars, shopping stores, convenience stores, the beach, as well as money exchanges, taxi services, and tour companies. The staff were extremely polite and helpful, and the overall decor of Bumas was quite nice. My only suggestion would be to renovate the rooms more to bring out the color and cleanliness. Additionally, I would suggest more items for breakfast, as they served very limited items. More cereal, meats, cheeses and fruit selection would have been helpful.
What a lovely place this is. The staff is nice and helpfull. A lot of Dutch people go here and they will make you feel right at home real soon. There are two pools so there is always one nearby your room, the garden is nice and well kept. This is a really nice place to come at ease.
Let’s be clear about the rooms, there are the newly refurbished ones, which if you are lucky to get are very nice. But if you luck out and get an older room they are awful – mould patches, cracked ceilings, toilets that don’t flush properly, light switches that don’t work, noisy air con etc. Our room didn’t have a safe either which was surprising for Asia. Given the price they are charging the older rooms really are not up to standard. And if you don’t want a sore neck I suggest taking your own pillow as theirs were rock hard and stank. Not sure if they use a laundry service or economise on that expense but the bathroom towels stank even after they were freshly replaced by housekeeping. The 2 pools were nice, but the usual down side of only a few sun beds for a lot of guests, and people putting towels on them that at the crack of dawn. Breakfast was very disappointing. A grumpy egg cook (and I use the word “cook” lightly) who couldn’t manage the most basic fried eggs. I saw staff watering down milk for the cereals and the coffee pot being refilled with water many times without any coffee added. I would rather pay a few dollars less a night for accom and go out and pay for a decent breakfast. These days free wi-fi is almost a given so when you need to walk to reception to get any signal it’s not really acceptable. Staff were helpful if you weren’t raising a problem. It went downhill very quickly if you tried to point out something that was wrong. And if you don’t like sharing your space with group tours then this is not the place for you. The hotel is used by a Dutch booking agency for package holidays and looking after the tour agency business seems more important to the manager than independent paying guests. There is so much lovely accommodation in Sanur too choose from that I won’t be bothering with Bumas again.…
The room we had was large with a huge bed. However the pillows were the worst I have ever slept on. It was as if the pillows were full of rocks they were so hard and lumpy, resulting in a sore neck every morning. Some fresh new pillows would be a good investment for the paying guests. The towels were brown in colour and smelly. I am sure they were not washed daily as i could never smell any detergent in them only a yukky used smell. Breakfast was less than basic with everything cold. The egg station cook couldn't fry eggs or poach them with a satisfactory result. If you then ordered an omelette she would use only one egg instead of two, resulting in a paper thin omelette. There was insufficient sunbeds, four of which were monopolized by four guests from 7am till 6pm. Even if they were not actually using them they had their towels and books placed on the beds. The gardens lacked attention and were sparse. I never saw a gardener there once in ten days. Quite out of character for Bali hotel gardens. I experienced a very unfortunate incident during our stay and i requested the police be called, however the staffer at reception informed me the police do not work Sunday. But of course they work every day and night. The hotel manager was also extremely unhelpful. Our experience at this hotel was very unpleasant and i would not stay there again. We have been going to Bali for 30 years and have been guests at numerous hotels, resorts and boutique guest houses and have never experienced anything as we did at this poorly run hotel.…
Years ago Bumas Hotel was a real find. Now it is found by several tour operators that accomodate their people here. That means groups of people, many Dutch, laughing, talking loudly, claiming the pool area, talking untill late on their terraces. No high crimes, of course, but they use up a lot of space. Too much, to our taste. Bumas is also raising it’s prices considerably, which is not nice. The hotel is located in an street off Tamblingan, but it suffers loud noise from the Lazer Bar, that plays exceptionally loud music, and should leave Sanur and move to Kuta. The Balinese style hotel has a nice garden, two story buildings around two pools. Deluxe room we had is large, with only one chair though, and a small balcony. The AC has to work very hard to cool the room. The rooms are ok, but not in great shape. Mold on the walls, painted over. Cracked ceilings. Toilets are broken, lights don’t work, closetdoors don’t close, that sort of thing. The real nuisance is the wifi. If you are depending on wifi, the lobby is the only place to check your apps or mail. So you cannot be reached if you are not in the lobby. That is not acceptable in 2018. In your room, you suffer noise from slamming doors, and if you’re on the ground floor, neighbors moving chairs above your head will keep you awake. We saw one elderly person putting 4 towels and 4 books on the 4 best and newest sunbeds at the pool, before breakfast. The 4 of them only arrived around noon, keeping 4 sunbeds occupied the whole morning, preventing other guests from using them. They were from Australia. We were not surprised. On a scale 0-10: 6 Will we ever return: maybe, maybe not Value for money: not really, Bumas is a bit overpriced…
2 pools - both clean and quite big compared to other places i have stayed. Room was quite large with good bathroom. Only issue was breakfast always cold - had to ask for everything to be reheated - pancakes, rice etc. - staff happy to accommodate this request. Other than that ... really enjoyed my stay and would stay again. Oh wifi was terrible too!
HOtel has 2 pools in middle of the rooms and surrounded by garden/grass. Peble paths arn't great for stabiilty but are ok. Rooms were large and large bathroom but could do with more shelving or stands in both to put your stuff on. Was clean and serviced each day. No tea and coffee making facilities. A massive coach pulled up one night full of people and it was still very quiet. Staff are mostly friendly except the egg station lady! Cranky pants. Tv only had one part time english channel. NO safe in room but safety deposit box at reception. Good location. Lunch menu in hotel poor but a really close restaurant out the front. About 30 metres to main road which has everything right there. About 10 minutes to beach as you have to walk to one of the access roads. 10 minutes to night markets. Breakfast was simple. NO bacon but was good enough. Fridge in room. Pools clean and good temperature with steps going into not just ladder. Walk in shower. Drinks at reception really good price. Wifi not great from room and sometimes not even good in lobby. I think that might be standard for Sanur as a lot of people were on line when we were there due to the earthquake and they were all saying they didn't have good wifi.…
Older style hotel right in the heart of Sanur. Two pools to choose from, very quiet and comfortable. Basic breakfast but good. Staff very good, room service incredibly quick and wayan and the front counter was lovely. Would definitely stay here again
