This was our second stay at Akana, and we enjoyed it as much (if not more!) than our last visit.

We stayed in a very well decorated, stylish and modern hotel room on the ground floor right by the pool, with hints of balinese room decor to remind you you're still on the island of gods. Due to the low occupancy at present, I have a feeling we were upgraded (despite not paying any additional fees) - which I really appreciated.

The pool is smallish but more than sufficient considering the size of this boutique hotel. It is also clean, I see a review about "stuff in the pool", which I assume refers to the leaves from the palms surrounding it. I don't expect staff to stand around the pool all day collecting every leaf and flower that falls and I see them clean it almost every morning - to me, the pool is great.

The hotel also provides bikes (which weren't available last stay as it was busy, but we used them at our leisure this time). We asked staff to pump up the tires, which they did no problem.

On that note, the staff are fantastic. Nothing is too much of an ask for them, and they always check in to ensure your stay is comfortable. Gede, the manager, also introduced himself and is happy to assist, which makes you feel properly attended to.

Bed is a great size, linen is comfortable (we asked for an extra pillow, staff brought it straight away without issue), and the room's air-conditioning is fabulous, it cools down the room very quickly which is exactly what you need here in Bali!

All in all a great place to stay, I am sure we will be back. Thank you Akana, it's been a pleasure.

Welcoming, polite and friendly hospitality from the start.

Always a staff member available to assist you.

Booked a transfer directly to save jetlagged airport haggling. The driver was waiting with a sign and guided us through the mania of the arrivals hall which was welcomed.

First thing to say is the location was great for a reasonably priced Sanur hotel. It had a selection of restaurants around it (our favourite was Baby Monkeys) and a short walk to the beach, supermarket and shops. Everywhere else could be reached by hailing one of the many taxis.

The rooms were spacious, modern, airy and clean. The bathrooms were a lovely surprise as they were a dark boutique elegance with complementary products, even toothbrushes and combs. There was an odd smell to the rooms but you get used to it and the delicious welcome drink settled us in nicely.

The breakfast was standard fare, a small selection of a few fruits and mini pastries with toast and cereal options. Other options could be paid for. It wasn’t very tasty or appealing so I personally chose to eat elsewhere but if its included in the room price then others seemed to make the best of it.

The only downfall of this hotel was the noise. The rooms situated at the front of the hotel were exposed to the mostly nightly entertainment beneath, the road traffic and a strange arcade type noise as the windows are not sound-proofed. One of our rooms was moved to the back of the hotel which was quieter but the entertainment was still difficult to get my child to sleep with and we were still woken by the cockerel early each morning.

However, I would definitely recommend the hotel.

The pool was small but looked lovely.

Overall, we had a nice stay at the hotel itself but given the location we would not return. First the positives: The room was very clean and well furnished and the check-in was quick. The included breakfast was sufficient, there are some fruits & breads on a self-service table and you can order 1 item from a menu. The pool, while small, was never busy and nice to have. The chairs and umbrellas at the beach were also very nice.
Negatives: A bit of a long walk to the beach area. While we knew Bali beaches were not always amazing, we booked the east-side of Bali for this time of year hearing these would be the best beaches. However, the beach near the hotel was very dirty, lots of debris in the water, and lots of rocks/seaweed. We also did not feel all the safe when walking back to the hotel at nice from other areas. We would much have preferred being near a busier area of Sanur with safer looking streets, more restaurants and cleaner beaches.

I love little boutique hotels like this! Staff were lovely and welcoming and attentive.

I had a pool access room which was very clean and comfortable. Outdoor bathroom was lovely.

The room was very well soundproofed with blockout curtains so had a great rest.

Would definitely stay here again!

POOL ACCESS room. Nice patio to sit on directly across from sparkling pool. Everything in the hotel is immaculately clean. Nice and modern decor for a change from the traditional. We have booked this hotel for over 2 months this year to stay in as so lovely. The room is tastefully decorated with comfy king bed, TV numerous channels and Netflix and Youtube. Bathroom is a dream, with huge bath, rain shower , granite finishes. Room Service was fabulous to be able to order a Pina Colada whenever felt like it. Reception 24 hours so felt secure. Restaurant good menu with plenty of dishes to choose from. Outdoor dining as well as indoor. Plenty of restaurants nearby, plus laundry services and bars . We enjoyed the hotels own restaurant and bar though. Walk 6 mins to the beach, a nice easy walk down a bitumenised lane, leading to a private set up on the beach with daybeds and umbrellas. The sand was even raked. The walk along the beach is paved and great to walk along. So all in all we loved this boutique hotel and chose it to stay in Pool Access room for a long period. Thoroughly recommend this little gem.

I wouldn’t come back. The employees are great but my room smelled like sewage. I read this in some reviews but I imagined that they would have fixed it by now. That was the second room I stayed at, which I got after paying extra £32 because it was an ‘upgrade’ from the first room in which I couldn’t sleep because it was just noisy as it is right under the AC machine for the entire building. Definitely a NO GO.

Stayed here over Christmas in Bali. Rooms are nicely furnished and bathroom is very modern and stylish. Room didn’t have a balcony, but had wooden shutters across the main windows which was not very nice to look at. Felt a prison vibe when trying to look out. Cleaners ensure the room was cleaned daily but they come around 4pm which was very late especially when we had come back early afternoon to get ready and there was no fresh towels.

Breakfast was nice and included in the price we had paid, and the pool was also nice and refreshing too.

Located in Sanur but there isn’t a great deal to do in the local area apart from the beach. Would still recommend to stay here however

Can’t speak more highly of this hotel….all the staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for them…the rooms are spacious and scrupulously cleaned each day.
Breakfast on the deck is beautiful.Sanur is very quiet at the moment and you feel like you are in your own little paradise.the pool is very clean ( not all pools in Bali are …) I’m not sure but I think the rooms are soundproofed because it is very easy to sleep.if you get a chance to stay here do it!!! There are many wonderful restaurants such are Baby monkeys and Hanoi and Saigon cafe within a couple of minutes walk.

We usually always stay at the same resort in Sanur but we decided this time to mix it up a little bit.
Little did we know it would end up being a nightmare stay : we didn't change room only once but 2 times!

The first time, my partner and I wanted to be on the computer at the same time. We plugged them in and the whole electric system just totally went down, burning my computer charger at the same time. Leaving me without for the end of my stay, I even had to buy a new one myself because nothing came from resort.

Then they moved us in another room. We went out and coming back to the resort after dinner, the room smelled like nothing you'd ever experienced! it was a horrible surprise!
11:30pm, we changed again to another room!

In general the rooms where quiet dirty, towels were full of holes and most of the ustensiles were removed from the room.

Only positive side : the reception staff was very nice and felt deeply sorry.

I wouldn't recommend this place and would have loved to have a gesture from the hotel as this was beyond acceptable..

This was my 3rd time at Akana. I was there 5 years ago and stayed there twice over my 2-week trip. This time, I stayed at Akana again with my nephews and was taken care of well. Some of the employees remembered me by name from when I was there 5 years ago! I felt special.

It's a reasonably priced hotel, small. private, quiet, and in a relatively good location. A few restaurants nearby, a beach a short walk away, and easy access to Grab/Uber.

Maybe COVID had something to do with it, but the beds/bathrooms are starting to show their age. Also, the menu at the restaurant doesn't feel Indonesian much. But I guess they cater to their guests.

Breakfast was included with our room, always fresh, made to order, and filling. One of the days I was there, I asked for ice and they didn't have any. Rather than tell me they didn't have any, the lady said yes and then I saw a worker running from the hotel and come running back a few minutes later with a bag of ice! That to me was impressive and greatly appreciated!

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bali. Try to get the pool access rooms...allows easy access to the restaurant, pool, and front desk and beats the hell out of climbing stairs or waiting for the lift!

Looking forward to someday going back to Bali and staying at Akana!

Pretty much anywhere you can get a good feed at reasonable cost. Many great restaurants along the beach front and tucked down some side streets.More expensive ones like Mossimo are good value but pasta dishes around the world are over priced. If you want a very cheap indo meal with no frills just up the road on the crn of Dano Poso is Warung Jawa Moro Seneng where you can get a big meal of mixed dishes of your choice for around A$3 pp so yummy. Also a cheap seafood meal on the beach give Jackfish a go
