The Handara Golf & Resort Bali, ranked by GOLF Magazine among the "Top 50 Greatest Golf Courses in the World" attracts golfers from all corners of the world to travel to Bali in order to play golf at one of Asia's most iconic and "World-Class" golf courses. Handara Golf & Resort Bali is located in the central highlands of Bali and is nestled down inside the crater of a dormant volcano at an altitude of almost 1,200 meters (almost 4,000 feet) above sea level. The resort is surrounded by lush green mountains, crater lakes and an equatorial rain forest that creates dramatic backdrops for approach shots into the well maintained creeping bentgrass greens. Another unique characteristic of this world-renowned golf resort is the year round coolness of the fresh mountain air (14-24 C), which will make for a pleasantly comfortable round of golf at this 18-hole championship golf course designed by five time British Open Champion Peter Thomson along with his design associates Michael Wolveridge and Ronald Fream. We invite you to take a tour of our facility online and we look forward to welcoming you to Handara Golf & Resort Bali.

It was the second time we stayed here, and always had a great experiences. The view was amazing, the staff all good and professional, especially Mertha, the supervisor,he is good and professional. And the second one we stayed we had tried the new dish "cake". They offered us cake for accompany our coffee time. And we tried that was very delicious (Les douceurs de la France) there was a flavour almond and vanilla. That was the most delicious cake I have ever tried on Bali. It looks like I ate that cake in France. Thanks Handara.

Such a stunning location and so much potential, but you can really tell in the past couple years the facilities and hotel have been given no love or attention. At check in they messed up our reservation as we were guaranteed 2 rooms side by side (because of traveling with children), when we got there they had given away the two side by side rooms and our kids had to be on another floor. Place was fully booked so we had no options. Rooms: The rooms were modern, but everywhere you look it was falling apart... broken beds, stains on couches, stains on carpet, massive black marks and grime on walls, patio doors which didn't lock properly... the list goes on. The room had 2 towels, that's it (and there were 2 bathrooms). No hand towels, extra bathing towels nothing. No soap for showers. Our kids room (main floor) had an awful smell of mould the entire time, even after keeping doors open. The grounds/golf course: The courses needed good maintenance, things were overgrown, all the resting/balle spots had broken benches and falling apart. The pathways had bricks missing making it difficult to drive cart and walk. We tried to have the kids play in the "kids putting area" only to be told there were no balls. Only one restaurant was open and almost every day many items they did not have. One day it was milk for coffee, another day it was limes (and they were advertising a feature drink that required limes, everyday there were no strawberries - despite 100m from the entrance the strawberry fields were plentify). It was constant and actually started to become funny. The staff tried their best, but it became obvious that the place was being run by the staff and that no GM or management was present. Such a shame as its location and grounds it could really be wonderful

Handara Golf Resort is Bali’s oldest and most well-established course. We decided to head up to Bedugul, into the mountains and play a round of golf. I had heard for years about this iconic golf course, which has the reputation of attracting many distinguished patrons and passionate golfers from around the world. I was super-impressed - it was totally spectacular. The beautiful mountain views were breathtaking, and with an average temperature of 14 -24 degrees, it is a perfect temperature for playing golf. You are actually up at 1350 metres, high in the hills. The beautiful fairways were a dream, and the stunning red-orange flame trees and beautiful flowers along the course made this whole experience a delight. I simply love the way a golf course makes you feel. The open space, the greenery, and to be surrounded by nature - it is a divine experience. I always ask the question to my caddie, “What is your handicap?”. My caddy was on 13, and my husband’s caddie was on 3. Impressive! We got the best tips and instructions along the way, where to aim, the lie of the greens and they even arranged for a cappuccino to be brought out to us (we had an early 6.30 am tee-off). The lunch at the clubhouse restaurant was excellent. Super fresh and they brought me out a hand-written vegetarian menu (I asked at the time of booking if they had vegetarian options). Impressed again! I had their famous Japanese silky tofu temptation (there is a dedicated Japanese restaurant there, but at the moment it is closed). My dish was delicious and super fresh with a salad with special Japanese dressing. We stayed 1 night (Monday), and I would definitely recommend coming out mid-week, as the weekends are quite full. It is wise to pre-book and they do not take walk-ups. Handara take COVID very seriously, and all the sanitising is carried out with extreme measures, along with everyone in masks and reminders everywhere, so we were all kept in check. Outstanding care. (Handara was closed for one month, and every area cleaned and sanitised thoroughly). Now, it is open. The standards are very high. The mists coming in from the volcanoes created a feeling of mood and majesty and being located up at 1350 meters, it is so refreshing and so delightfully cool. Handara is a worthwhile experience. I will be back. For me, it was one of the most outstanding golf experiences I have had to date. The course is sheer beauty, and it was a wonderful experience to finally get here and play a round of golf. I would also recommend it if you are a non-golfer, its a great place to base yourself and explore the three lakes and mountains.

We had a reasonably nice round of golf with some rude and abnoxsiois caddies. Food was acceptable but staff are terrible and organising transportation is impossible. Just enjoy your Bali holiday and stay well away, play at Bali National, go to a villa in Lovina. Just don't go to Handara, it will ruin the relaxation.

This hotel is beautiful. My wife and I had to switch to this hotel due to our other one being closed down. It was definitely a blessing. This place was great. The staff was friendly, the food was fantastic, and the views were out of this world.
