My second bad experience with Westin : after Cancun (see my review 2017 ), now Bali !! The resort have many signs of the time except the reception who’s wonderful and the welcome is perfect. The beach is full of seaweed and they cleaned few meters of the after my reclamation . The nearest Melia was cleaned before customers arrival … At 09.00 am a nice guy ring at every door asking you kindly to leave the room because he have to work …. Also here we have a small work in progress along the beach ( not mentioned on the website) with some noise during the day . I was forgetting the Wi-Fi who’s terrible around the swimming pool , not working on the beach and low on the rooms .

First the good points: We travelled as a family of four and booked a family suite. We had two spacious bedrooms, one with super-king sized bed and another with two queen size beds. Each bedroom had its own equally spacious bathroom with walk in shower as well as a free standing bath. Finally there was a separate sitting room joining the bedrooms. The hotel itself is well kept, very clean and tidy, the garden areas and pool are very pleasant and the hotel frontage is right on the beach. Staff were, without exception, attentive and very friendly. WiFi is available throughout and is generally capable enough. The reason I’ve only given the review three stars: The hotel is totally devoid of any atmosphere in the evenings. We ended up getting taxis to Seminyak or spending the evenings in neighbouring hotels, such was the lack of anything going on in the Westin. This isn’t helped by the fact that the main beachfront restaurant is being remodelled and is currently closed. They’ve put a few tables out on the beach and expect that to suffice. The dining options for lunch and dinner are, in my opinion, very restricted. There is an all day menu available, but by the time you strip away all the “well-being poke bowls” and vegetarian options, there are very few substantial meals available. The first time we ate out in the improvised restaurant on the beach, my wife had the chicken and was violently ill within a couple of hours. Given that at that point, she’d solely eaten and drank in the hotel for two days, it doesn’t take much to point the finger of blame at the food hygiene in this case (we’d been very careful only to drink bottled water and avoid ice). When challenged, the hotel would not admit liability but did ask us to fill out a form. Other restaurants in the hotel didn’t fare particularly well either. There seems to be an inability of the kitchen and waiting staff to coordinate themselves such that everyone in the party gets their meal at the same time, regardless of which restaurant you’re at. In the Japanese restaurant it took over thirty minutes between the first and last of our party to receive their main courses. Others we met did not rate the Prego Italian restaurant much better, either on hygiene or service, although I can’t vouch for this personally. Overall, high prices, poor portion sizes, lack of choice and slow inefficient service mean that I can’t recommend the Westin for anything other than breakfast. Other points that may be of interest: If you like to sit out side your room on a balcony sipping a drink of an evening then you’re out of luck except if you get a ground floor room. There are balconies, but they are no more than about a meter square. The beach is nice but if you’re looking for snorkelling, forget it. The area in front of the hotel is a maritime desert. Apparently there are boats that’ll take you out past the reef edge for snorkelling but when I enquired, they wanted a ridiculous IDR 450,000 per person to take you literally a couple of hundred yards off the beach for an hour. Given you can hire a driver and car for the entire day for around 500-600k this is daylight robbery. The construction noise from the building of the new restaurant is constant every day. This makes sitting by the pool in peace and quiet almost impossible. They seem to have given up on trying to keep the noise down. This hotel seems to be more concerned with the business it does as an international conference centre (its hosting the G20 in November) than it does serving the higher end of the tourist market. Whilst it is well maintained, it is looking very dated and could do with a face lift from its late 80’s decor. Considering the rich artistic culture of these islands, there is very little of it represented here, which is a real shame.

I've arrived very late rainy midnight due to flight schedule. The hotel transfer driver arranged was kind enough and felt safe. The hotel was quite occupied and couldn't get upgraded on the first night. The terrace access twin deluxe room (I believe) was not quite roomy with two young kids; questionably the assigned room at the closest building to beach felt like a bit smaller than other Deluxe rooms, especially the space between end of beds to the wall. And the room condition was showing the history of the hotel, too. However, the staffs of the Westin was very kind and responsible. The staff recognized member status, and promptly provided room upgrade to 2-bedroom suite, next day evening as soon as available. The new room was very spacious which has a living room area with a large table and two rooms were connected through it. And the room condition is quite good enough, although it still shows its history. The buffet breakfast was crowded and lively. Many of foods there were healthy selects, and met typical five star's quality. The afternoon tea at the lounge bar near lobby was excellent! The staffs were very friendly and kindly cared my kids. The cakes and puddings fruits made all really happy, after hours of swimming at excellent 4 pools and enjoying beautiful calm beach. My wife finally said got satisfied with those all! As a heavy traveler due to businness trips, I usually find not many hotels makes customers get satisfied. I wrote hotel/resort reviews a few times, but not all of them were positive. Many of them were neutral or even negative. Because it requires high qualities in all the aspects. Especially, the hotels which has a long history, it's not easy. Although the rooms of Westin Nusa Dua might need some renovation in near future to keep its quality, I can strongly recommend to family vacation travelers; you'll love their foods, pools, beautiful beach and excellent services! During this 15-day vacation, after long waits due to Covid-19, I'll visit two more resorts the Renaissance hotel and the Laguna, Luxury Collection at Nusa Dua. Let me keep post on those, also.

Excellent stay! We’re so glad we chose Westin to be our home in Bali. We’re a couple travelling to get some rest and relaxation. We were apprehensive at first because we kep seeing reviews that this is a family hotel. However, when we got to the resort, it was so huge that there is a lot of space for the guests and we never got bothered by rowdy children. What we loved: 1. Check in - it was quick and efficient. Yuni at the front desk was so kind to answer all our questions and made sure all our needs are taken cared of. 2. Breakfast - there are plenty of choices, there are western options, as well as local cuisine, and other asian fare. We enjoyed the breakfast during our stay. One of the staff, Mataram, was very attentive to guests and made us feel very welcome every day. 3. Room - we booked a Deluxe King Garden View room and got one that has a small porch in front of a garden that leads to the beach (Room 1506). The room is clean and very spacious, bigger than your usual hotel room. Same as shown in the website photos! Bed was a bit too soft for us, but not really an issue- just a matter of preference. 4. Pool and Beach - the adult pools are quite nice with deeper waters good for swimming. There is also a much quieter pool near the Prego restaurant which we liked better. However, we went to Bali for the beach and it did not disappoint! The water is very clear and the beach is well maintained. We spent hours swimming and lounging here- there are always sunbeds available for everyone. Take note though that low tide is very early morning and around dusk. When it is lowtide, there is hardly any water for swimming. There were vendors but they won’t bother you if you tell them you’re not interested to buy anything. 4. Check-out - our flight leaves past midnight and we had to extend our stay later than the normal check-out. Nina at the front desk was very helpful in providing us options in extending our stay. She made sure that our stay was comfortable until the end of our vacation. Overall, the resort was lovely and I can’t really find any fault here. What even made our stay better are all the kind, well trained staff- special mention to Yuni, Nina and Mataram! We were extremely happy with the Westin at Nusa Dua. We highly recommend it and we will return!

The Westin Nusa Dua never disappoints! We have been coming to this property since 1997 (before it was a Westin), and find that we have most consistent and wonderful experience every time. At check in we were helped by Ms. Satryani Nyoman who greeted us so pleasantly and made us feel like we were coming back home. Well the resort does not have a club lounge, they do have a lovely hi tea and a “managers welcoming gathering” with wine and beer which is very pleasant. The rooms are a bit old/dated, and in need of an upgrade- but considering we are in Bali and not in the room for most of the time we didn’t really mind too much, although they should probably consider a bit of investment on modernising the rooms. The food has always been consistently excellent at all the outlets. In the main restaurant down by the beach is under construction I should be finished by November, that will be a really nice space. Overall I would highly recommend the property, and especially would like to recognise the wonderful staff here.
