Fabulous! A lagoon room and everything we could possibly want with the level upgrade:-) Staff were beautiful.. loved the coffee shop by the pool! Food and restaurants were great.. The only thing we would have complained about was the warm beer…
We have been staying at Melia Bali for a month and still going😊. During this pandemic, Melia Bali is such a rare find, the hotel is alive with multitudes of activities, still with full on Covid protocol. It is perfect for my 2 active boys, to have tonnes of options of activities, one day is not enough to keep up. Kayaking, archery, paddle board, and the Junior club activities too such as soccer, tennis, pool games, water polo, and more. In addition to its clean room and beautiful gardens, the hotel staff have been nothing but warm and extremely welcoming made it really hard to leave Melia. Pak Irul, Bu Dayu always around with fun, exciting events such as the Pirate treasure hunt, marshmallow by the beach and movie every night (with popcorn) which was superb! I'd love to mention some staff that always made our days pleasant, Pak Ian (yoga master), pak Alep, Pak Agus, Bu Resini, Bu Dayu, Bu Sasih at kids club, Tya, Jung Mas, Pak Edmund, Bayu, Pak Dewa and all the restaurant staff, Bu Kartini, bu Artini, pak Mudana, pak Nadi at kayaking, and many more that we can't mention one by one by name. My boys have to do online learning and to know that they still can enjoy full pack outdoor, fun and exciting activities made online school bearable. I totally recomend Melia Bali! …
Check in time 3P.M and we waited for 1hour till the room ready just because they said they need to change 1 lamp. We also ask and pay more for extra bed, but when arrive at our room, there's no extra bed. Call the reception again, and wait about another 1hour for the extra bed. The staff who set the extra bed was un-masked, and just wear his mask because we're all masked... Ask them for re-disinfect and re-cleaning our room, wait for another 1 hour and no respond, so we disinfect and re-clean our room by ourself... What a shame for a 5star hotel
I went for a workout in the hotel gym and was offered a free training session with Ian. It was good, intense boxing training with pads. Ian provided a brilliant session that not only worked me physically, but also worked on the skills of boxing as well. If you want to have a good workout during your stay, Ian is the man to go to.
This is a big resort hotel at Nusa Dua, which is the upscale beach hotel area close to the Denpasar airport. The positives in this hotel are as follows. This is very convenient if you arrive by plane, only a short drive (by Bali standards) from the airport. The beach is quite nice. The extensive garden and pool areas are probably the best at Nusa Dua (my comparison was based on walking past the other hotels garden/pool areas and having a look at Google Maps aerial view.) The swimming pools in the garden are nice and suitable for children of different ages. The beach is clean (and cleaned from seaweed every morning), the water is beautiful, and a nice place to swim. The size of the waves varies: during the rising tide the water is quite calm due to the shallowness of the bay, but at high tide there are a bit bigger waves. At the low tide the water is gone (save some small ponds here and there), but due to the about 12 hours tidal cycle, there will be good swimming conditions either in the morning or in the afternoon. There is a 4 kilometer walking/running/bicycling track going round the Nusa Dua hotel area, and you can walk along the beach past the other upscale hotels, so you are not limited to the Melia hotel garden and beach only. The hotel was built quite long ago (1980s?), and the rooms have not been renewed after that, so the look and feel of the rooms is quite outdated. Our 2-level loft with beds for 4 only had one bathroom, and the bathroom felt quite old. The room was OK, but not at the level of many less expensive rooms elsewhere in Bali. A more serious issue is with the hotel's restaurants. This is a resort hotel, and many guests prefer having all meals at the hotel. The breakfast was good, but the lunch/dinner offerings were not. All of the hotels 4+ "restaurants" share one kitchen, so it is not really 4+ restaurants, but one restaurant with different menus for different seating areas. We (a group of 8 people) had dinner twice in the hotel restaurants. The first time some of the dishes were OK (e.g. the teriyaki chicken), but others were between unimpressive and bad. Two dishes (Thai and Japanese) with beef were basically inedible due to the quality of the beef, which was too chewy due to the almost complete absence of muscle meat. We had a quite watery milkshake replaced with a better one when we asked for it. We had other meals on other evenings elsewhere, but tried again with one adult and three kids a couple of evenings later. Now the teriyaki chicken had turned miserable and bland, and the spaghetti with bolognese sauce was basically fried beef mince chaotically mixed with spaghetti. The food was nowhere near the level one would expect of a 4 or 5 star hotel anywhere. The current situation at the hotel is explained by the following: even though this is a very expensive hotel (by Bali standards), for the overseas tourists (who are the majority of the guests) the prices are just mid-level (or highish for middle class overseas tourists), with correspondingly low expectations for things like the food. Kids are happy with mediocre hamburgers and chicken nuggets, as long as the beach and pools are nice, and most families will visit this hotel and Bali only once anyway, so repeat customers are not important for the hotel. We had much better lunches at nearby hotels and restaurants a bit outside the Nusa Dua area, and would strongly suggest all guests to this hotel to do the same.…
In 2016 we reviewed the Melia and that was our Title ( Service, Smiles and Quality) nothing has changed there. Having just returned from our second visit to this wonderful resort, we decided to go for THE LEVEL experience and the All Inclusive Deal. Firstly THE LEVEL Experience was more than we expected from the special THE LEVEL Lobby check in - personally engraved Coconut with our names to a beautiful floral Lei all in the LEVEL Lobby. Better quality rooms, better quality bottles of water and an espresso machine in the room and a dedicated breakfast area. We stayed in the Romance Suite and it was spacious and clean. We were apprehensive about the All Inclusive deal, as it usually sounds better than the actual delivery and you end up with more exclusions than inclusions. NOT AT THE MELIA. All the restaurants were included, along with the menu food items. The menus were not overly extensive but there was certainly enough choices to satisfy all tastes, and nothing was too much trouble if we wanted to slightly change a dish. The Pizzas at Sateria were to die for. The drinks choices were also extensive and when they say unlimited dining and drinks and that is exactly what you get. So we’ll done Melia. The staff were absolutely fabulous and there are too many to name them all, but we really want to mention three individuals that just simply stood out from the crowd. Chef Bayu from breakfast went way and beyond to make, my wife feel special, when he found out she had been feeling unwell. Oki and Yudi ( Putu ) not only had the biggest infectious smiles always on their faces but were extremely attentive to our needs. My wife would certainly also recommend the YHI SPA where she enjoyed a number of treatments Beautiful Resort, Beautiful Grounds, Great Staff , Great experience AGAIN. Would thoroughly recommend this resort.…
We stayed for 11 nights and could not be happier with our choice. Hotel is huge, plenty of space by the pool and beach. The grounds are well kept and truly amazing both during the day and in the evenings when lit with the candles. Restaurants offer variety of different food, and all inclusive pays off, since includes bikes, and other water sports, along with the food, drinks, snacks. Our only complaint would be the room, we stayed in family suite and the beds where very squeaky, otherwise room was spacious and very nicely decorated. Overall would happily come back and recommend.
It was our second time here and it was still as great as usual. The grounds and public spaces are kept immaculate and clean. Food was superb, cooked fresh Staff are always friendly, helpful and courteous and housekeeping do a great job We see you all next year
Great facilities, amazing surroundings. The staff is so so accommodating and nice. Always smiling. 3 restaurants, restaurant at the beach is great. The Level is highly recommended, in fact, I wouldn’t take it any other way. There is no better service than The Level
Melia is great for families. Travelling with husband, 3yo and 10 month old we booked a family room. My daughter loved the princess bed in the loft. Kids club were very welcoming however unable to leave kids under 4 there but that didn’t bother me. The breakfast OMG I have never seen so much delicious food in my life. Only down side is on two occasions there were no clean pool towels available. Lots of sun lounges avail around the pool but good luck getting a sun bed. The beach also didn’t have many sun lounges avail unless u were a VIP member. Also the pressure in the shower was shocking. I am not one to complain but the water was just dribbling out. We stayed in a 3 star hotel prior in Legian and it has 10 times better water pressure. There is also not many cheap places to eat in nusa dua. Bali collections which is right next door was mostly closed. Only one restaurant open therefore only options is to eat at the resort restaurants which are normal AUD prices. Over all it’s a great hotel. Hopefully once it gets busier there will be more cheaper places to eat. I would recommend this hotel…
