This place is absolute paradise. First of all let me say that the staff are so friendly here and they will do anything to ensure your stay is comfortable. The best thing I liked about poppies wasn't just the beautiful secluded cottages perfect for a romantic getaway, it's wasn't the amazing breakfast you got delivered every morning outside your front... Let me start with the downside first - Kuta is an awful place and to be avoided. Mopeds everywhere, more tourist traps that you can shake a stick at, and people trying to flog tourist tat left right and centre. We were pleased to only be there for 2 days en route to Gili T. Having said that, Poppies was... More

We stayed here as a couple for 12 nights and cannot find fault. The accommodation is simple but charming, but with plenty of room and all necessary amenities. Apart from sleeping, we more or less lived on the small terrace with the fan cooling us down. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning very effective (we had it on... More

After a week in the manufactured resort of Nusa Dua , arriving at Poppies was a delight. Walking in from the street felt like entering The Secret Garden. At last we felt as if we were actually in Bali. The cottages are built in true Balinese style and are totally relaxing with quiet rooms and a beautiful pool. The restaurant... More

Kuta is nothing to write about unless you want to party and buy souvenirs, but this hotel is a quiet, beautiful oasis in the busy hustle and bustle. The rooms are traditional and the garden is stunning. We spent the morning at their beautiful pool and the breakfast was great. I highly recommend this place if you have to stay... More

We first stayed in Kuta more than 25 years ago so have a lot of experience of different places to stay. Poppies is a real gem, which has come a long way from its backpacker roots. It isn't cheap, but is good-value, friendly and very well-run. The rooms are excellent, comfortable and very well furnished with a superb bathroom and... More

We have stayed at the fabulous Poppies Samui on a couple of occasions so it was an easy choice to try their sister hotel on our first visit to Bali. Our chalet number 18 was secluded and quiet. Quite the perfect retreat after the madness of Kuta. We loved to sit on our balcony, mornings for coffee and a sundowner... More

Thank you for your helpful review, to both fellow travellers and to the management! Regarding Water, Coffee, and Tea... We are baffled by your remark about complimentary water. Throughout a guest's stay we place a thermos of complimentary iced water on the table in front of every room. It is labelled 'Drinking Water' - it comes from a water chiller... More

I am not sure how many times we have stayed at Poppies now but it never fails to provide us with the best accommodation in Bali. We arrived close to midnight and the wonderful Nyoman was waiting with a pot of tea, a bucket of ice and limes in our room The staff are all amazing and treat us like... More

We had a one night layover in Denpasar, and stayed here rather than an airport hotel, having heard about it over the years. It's the most amazing place, gracious, quiet, beautiful. Elegantly appointed with traditional ikat hangings and batik robes. The musty smell some people note is I think the thatched roof--I loved it. The staff are cheery and obliging,... More
