We have been to Bali many times, but never stayed in Kuta as it used to be full of loud partygoers and it didn't feel safe at night. This time we decided to give the Kuta Beach Club Hotel a go and we are so pleased we did. The rooms are well designed with walk in showers, very comfortable beds and plenty of room to move about. We stayed in the Premium rooms right by the pool, the windows and doors are double glazed so if you are not a morning person you won't be woken. The breakfast is normal Balinese fare with an egg station and plenty of accompaniments. Great fruit, pancakes etc.
The pool area is fabulous, there are 2 pools one with a swim up to bar.
Staff are exceptionally friendly and kind hearted.
I have scored this hotel 1 less point as the bathroom and pool towels are not great and the cleaning is a little haphazard but saying that we will definitely be back.
You are close to Kuta beach and there is no traffic noise at all sitting by the pool. Street has restaurants.
Make sure you look up the Bali Turtle release programme, such a privilege to being able to do something so amazing.

Couldn't of asked for better staff, accommodation, facilities and service. Very central to a lot of shopping and restaurants. Rooms are very clean and tidy, beds quite comfortable. The only 2 gripes I have, is the use of pool chairs. Many people believe it is ok to place your towel on a seat and go out all day and expect no one to use that chair., especially the ones under some shade. This needs to be rectified, putting up notices that if a towel is placed on a chair and is seen to be not used in more than 2 hours, then staff will remove the towels. Also alcohol needs to be cut off if the behaviour becomes a nuisance for other guests wanting to use the pool.

The bed linen is Disgusting, clean but very stained. Towles are thread bear and stained. They wipe over the floor with towels before removing them. When rooms are cleaned there is only one cloth used for everything, toilet, benches, wiping of drinking glass's.
Breakfasts, food cold in baymaries, cooking section very slow and lines to get anything are long. Staff are friendly. Coffee in very strong mud like.
Pool area is a charm of this hotel.

TL;DR- If you’re considering booking here
-RUN.

I feel for the Melia name and booked here for 4 nights with breakfast. Break fast is really bad. They serve greasy, dry, inedible food. You’ve to pay additional money to get a rather disappointing coffee. Save your tummy and taste buds by eating outside.

I had complained that the AC in my room had issues for days to no avail. I write this review while my aircon is running like a chopper. Their room service is terrible too. Asked for water and had to wait for 4 hours and a visit down to the lobby to get one. They forgot to keep towels in my room. We came back from a long tour at midnight to find this and had to call their reception again to get this fixed. Their swimming pool was a mini gutter for 2 days, and unusable.

To top all these incompetence they openly discriminate guests with something as basic as the towels. Folks in the older buildings get a worn out, crappy towel while the ones in the newer blocks get a decent one. It was very insulting to be around this.

A $20 hostel provide a better experience than this.

Stay there for 5 nights in this hotel. I arrived very late at night during check-in and really appreciate that there are staff still there waiting for us. Check-in was fast and easy as we were very tired from the long flight.

The location of this hotel is without a doubt is very good. Walking distance to Kuta beach, shops lot and etc. Is also very quiet and has no problem sleeping. Breakfast is ok with more on asian choice. Really grateful that the staff is going a step beyond to prepare a breakfast box for us to take away as 1 of the days we have a tour in the morning and need to leave the hotel at 3am.

However, the hotel's room needs some improvement. The room is very spacious and having a large bed that is comfy to sleep in. But I cannot imagine how many years they have used the bed sheets and pillows as I was small stains on the bed sheet and the entire pillow was yellow in color.
The shower's water pressure is very, very low. Sometimes it is so low that the water will even stop momentarily. Basic toilet amenities were provided but shock to learn that no facial tissue were provided (only toilet rolls) and it's confirm by the staffs that they don't provide facial tissue in room which in my opinion were pretty basic to have it in room. Towel is also been thinning due to years of usage. The shower room only got 1 glass panel separate from the sink without a door therefore it has no full coverage, the floor will be soaking wet everytime we shower so we have to ask for house keeping everyday.

Overall I must say I'm a little disappointed with how old the hotel looks cause it is different than what I saw in the pictures when I booked it. But again I must emphasize that the staff of the hotel were all very polite and smiley and their presence make my stays enjoyable. If only they can make some changes in the room's interior.

Our stay at Sol Kuta surpassed all expectations. Despite it being an older hotel there was some upgrading and we loved our Sol Xtra Room as the king bed was very comfortable and the linen and room was spotless. We had requested a room near the pools and on the ground floor and was delighted that this was achieved. The pools were well maintained and it was very relaxing on the nice loungers under the umbrellas. We found the breakfast buffet more than adequate. Even though the hotel is in a very busy area, it was quiet and peaceful once you entered the grounds and only a 5 minute walk to beach. Most of all, the staff were superb, being very respectful, helpful and their lovely smiley faces made our day. If you are looking for decent accommodation where you get great value for money, then you can't go past Sol Melia Kuta. Our thanks to all the staff who made our holiday nothing short of wonderful. Well done Sol Melia Kuta!

After many stay at Sol Kuta, this would have to been the most disappointing experience. As always the staff that knew us were welcoming, friendly and accommodating.
The rooms we were put on were run down, at times smelly and bed bugs were bad. I woke up bitten quite badly every day, our shower didn’t work as water was running out of wall not shower head. We booked 12 months in advance and requested the usual rooms we have used in the past, this was not the case when we arrived, we were told they were fully booked, bit hard to believe. As I have a bad knee and back we requested a room with minimal steps, didn’t happen. After several complaints we were finally moved to a new room which was appreciated. Breakfast buffet not very good, more Asian orientated then western, one toaster was not enough, ants everywhere even in bread basket, instead of individual butter packets, it was a bowl of butter which I feel isn’t hygienic. At times for people dinning at night in restaurant it was badly under staffed. People can say you get what you pay for but we paid more then others staying in the older rooms.
Sadly I feel se won’t stay there anymore. It doesn’t feel as friendly as it used to, and management needs to improve quality of rooms.
We witnessed young people getting drunk in pool, passing out drunk, not a good example for the young children staying there.

Super comfy bed, and the nicest staff. I stayed in the old part of the hotel so was a bit run down but was clean and I was perfectly content. If you a little bit fussy you might want to upgrade to the big rooms which are the newly renovated sections. Great location easy to get round, quick walk to the beach, close to the airport no problems getting gojeks. Great massage just on the corner think it was Annie's. Great pool and cocktails. All the staff are really great even the security are polite and courteous and super helpful. Breakfast was yum they even had bacon, don't expect something over the top. It's clean basic food with some western and Indonesian offerings. The fresh fruit was the best and a lovely yoghurt great way to start the day. The omelettes were good and there is some cheese and ham by the cold section which I added on top once it was done. I always order coffee but you can get the free coffee which isn't bad but I like a kick. On the street there are 4 mini marts which is awesome great for grabbing water and juice and some snacks. The vendors are lovely across the road and alot cheaper than the market at Seminyak. I used the laundry services went through the hotel although it's is cheaper to take them yourself but I just couldn't be bothered. Came back so nice and clean cheap, very strong floral scent but I just aired them and they were fine. I had dinner at the hotel was yum, but do yourself a favour and go to the place on the corner from the hotel as you exit turn left you won't miss it. Gabah Restaurant & Bar. Easy to check in and check out no issues at all. Would stay again.

Arrogant security, for your information this hotel is located behind a shopping stores in separate building. Shopping area in the first building and the hotel behind it on the second building, where to walk out from the hotel to main road is very far. My gojek driver who brought food was told to wait outside on the security post on the main road, outside the shopping stores, and the security guy told my gojek driver to contact me, so that I could go to outside in the main road to meet him, because he was prohibited from entering, even to leave it at the receptionist or hotel lobby was not allowed. Also the security guy don't want to received it and don't want to bring it to hotel reception. I must do it all by myself.

I was in the toilet, so I told him to wait for me outside until I came out.

I should be able to accept it, if my question is answered properly, but I get a harsh answer from 2 security guy, first security is younger around 20-30 and the second security is bit old around 50-60 i don't know his name, but surely they still remember me that night.

when I went out and asked about it, the security guard answered arrogantly that everything was like that and he was allowed by his manager to work like that. and he also challange me if want to complain. Oh Come on guys, I don't care about who are you , or your background, but if you working in that hotel, you're also representing your hotel.

I'm sorry, the person at the reception is very kind, good attitude and professional, he knows how to treat hotel guests properly, they're the one who helped get everything done and helped receive my other package when i'm complaining.

even though you are a security guard but you guys working in a hospitality industry, don't just rely on your muscle, be polite and please treat a customer well.

We spent 10 nights in the hotel and overall we had a quite good stay. The big plus was the room, it was very big and the bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast is ok, could be better but could be worse (at least there is a buffet). What we didn’t like was the a la charte dinner, with very few choices. What about trying to change the menu sometimes? After few days we were basically eating always the same things, although the food was well presented and tasty. What I didn’t like at all is that they force you to pay immediately when you order drinks from the restaurant or the bar. I stayed in many hotels and something like this never happened to me. They ask you to pay immediately the cocktails ordered from the pool. I am supposed to bring my credit card inside the pool?! It is useless to say that when I had this unpleasant experience I did not order anything anymore and I went to buy my drinks in a shop very close to the hotel (half price). Same for the drinks at dinner, I drank water for 9 days only because I don’t like to pay immediately (I have a name, a room and I booked with a credit card, do you think I will run away without paying? Another limitation: the hotel has no animation team. You should consider making some shows in the evening, there is just someone playing at the “grill evening”.

First and foremost, on behalf of the Management, I would like to extend an apology for the unpleasant experiences during your stay at our hotel. Rest assured we value guest feedback such as yours and I have personally addressed those issues to the respective departments for immediate attention and improvement. It has been our serious evaluation to brief the leaders and the team to implement the procedures and to clearly explain to each guest upon check-in their payment method preferences, therefore guest stay would be more comfortable. The Chef has been reviewing the menu for more variety of ones and the Management is in the middle of contracting with more entertainment teams to have more evening activities within a week.
