Lots of monkeys on campus so one has to be careful. Good location as it is on top of Gunhill right in the middle of Mall road. Evening activities create a fair amount of buzz (noisy!).
One has to be careful is choosing a room. As it is the resort is on a hill so you either take their shuttle (Rs 100 per trip up or down) or walk which is not always fun. Then you may need to climb 0 to 150 steps to get to your room. so plan carefully.
Pick up and drop from Mall Road is available.
Food was excellent 👌
Thanks to Cap Mijan, Vinod, Shekhar, Nitin, Kajal & specially Chef Deepak & Vikram for making our stay pleasant
We were a group of 10 including 2 kids and my 80 year old grandmother. We had booked (and paid for) 2 Royal Suites from June 21 - July 1. The day before our arrival, we called the hotel and they re-confirmed our rooms. To our horror, when we arrived, the receptionist gave me keys for standard rooms! When I showed them our booking receipt and email from the hotel and insisted on our suites, they flatly refused, saying they were occupied. When we raised a hue and cry, the manager finally appeared and tried to appease us by saying that they would shift us to our suites as soon as they were available. What shocked me was that other guests were also being treated the same way and the staff was so nonchalant about it. It seemed as if swindling gullible guests was a daily affair for them!
We didn't accede to their pressure tactics and insisted they shift us to another hotel and a better one than Avalon. After a 2.5 hour wait, they finally sent us to Jaypee . But our horror does not end here. After agreeing to pay for our rooms at Jaypee, the next morning, they backed out saying they were too expensive! We had to pay.
These guys are nothing short of frauds. They messed up our family vacation and gave us an experience we would never forget!
we were overwhelmed by the kind of hospitality offered to us by the generous and caring staff of the resort.
the fun zone and the activity area overflowed with continuous memorable fun activities.
my 8 year old son karanvir remained in the fun zone for all the three days that we stayed in mussoorie.
the fun zone staff was extremely loving, caring and really hospitable.
the friendly bond that they created with my son has left everlasting fond memories in our hearts specially our son.
he was inconsolable for 3 days after returning back home. little children understand only one language, that of love.
the love and courtesy received from club Mahindra staff has left us short of words.

For me this was an complete waste of my money.
So please be more careful if you book the holiday in Avalon and take the rooms down stairs only.
We left from Gurgaon on Friday at around 5’0 clock and drove through NH8 - IIT - Maharani Bagh-NOIDA – MEERUT - KHATAULI – ROORKIE- SAHARANPUR - CHHUTMALPUR - DEHRADUN – MUSSOORIE and reached Mussoorie around 1’o Clock. Club Mahindra called up twice, once before the journey to give us the route and secondly on the day of arrival to know the time we are reaching. CM is 2kms from the library barrier and when we arrived the room was ready and they gave us two options either the Doon valley view or the Himalayan view and we took the later. We stayed in 31B. The room was really nice and the view from the balcony was great. The towels were a bit old but rest of the linens was in good shape and I expect when the CM is fully operational the facilities would be perfect.
We were so tired after a hectic week; we took a nap before getting ready for our lunch. The lunch spread was good and the food was ok. After lunch, we took the drop from the hotel to the Mall Road. (They charge you 75/- for the mall pick and drop and for pick and drop to the hotel from the reception is free). The evening went by as we sat on one of the mall road bench viewing the Doon Valley. We went to Kalsang to have our dinner. It’s a Chinese-Tibetian joint and the food was good.
The Saturday and Sunday was mainly sightseeing followed by lazying around either on the or in the balcony. We booked a cab for the sightseeing like Company Garden, Mussoorie Jheel, Kempty Falls, Santura Mandhir, Buddhist Monastery and Lal Tibba. Company Garden is just a picnic spot and has loads of flower and a artificial fall of 10 ft max. So as per my opinion is best to avoid it and same holds for Mussoorie Jheel, an artificial one with the option of boating. Kempty falls is a natural falls but since we visited in May it was not as beautiful as the other falls I have seen. And the worst part is people started bathing in that knee deep water. There is a ropeway charging 80 bucks for to and fro and you don’t have to take the stairs. Santura Mandir is in a nice location at one of the peak (also visible from our resort) and so is a good place for photographing those winding roads. I loved the Monastery. So peaceful and tranquil. Lal Tibba is another of the high points where there is an old durbeen which gives you less visibility than an 10x zoom camera. Since the valley turns red while sunset it is known as Lal Tibba (Red Table hill). There are other points like Camel Back, Gun Hill, Picture Palace and the best part of Mussoorie is Ruskin Bond comes to the book stall opposite to the Kalsang every Saturday in the evening. So get your copy signed by the author.
Bon Voyage!
P.S. Although the service was very good the sad part is they dont have a spa (irony is name of the resort is Avalon Spa and resort) which you badly need after taking so many stairs everyday :)
No service standard at all. Some how killed our 02 days time by paying good amount in advance.....
Simply ignore it for sure.
We stayed there last week and the stay was memorable.
The only negative was the delay in attending maintenance service calls (Geyser).
There are many activities for the kids and they have a set activity plan through-out the week.
The resort is now run by Club Mahindra.
Restaurant food is also good.
Biggest plus is the room service and house-keeping.
I would certainly recommend this place.
"higher floors mean a lot of climbing. Lower floors are next to the activity area - noisy."Read full review
