Rokeby was built in 1840 by Captain G.N. Cauthy and is one of the landmarks of Landour. The house and two acre estate are situated slightly above and to the east of St. Paul's Church and the old cantonment parade ground, which is now Char Dukan. Like many houses in Mussoorie, its name is taken from the writings of Sir Walter Scott, whose book-length poem describes heroic battles near the original Rokeby Castle in England. Methodist missionaries continued to operate the property as a guest house throughout the rest of the 20th century. Today, Rokeby has been carefully restored to its original glory. This heritage building is resplendent with character in its elaborate brick arches and niches, intricate stone walls, real wood floors and beams, and cosy fireplaces. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, the traditions of bygone years – where colonial officers, renegade soldiers of fortune and pious miss saibs lived under one roof – can still be felt. An air of mystery beckons visitors.

The property is charming but the rooms are small, not aired very well and overall the place is quite noisy. Maybe it was a peaceful haven once but we had a mixed experience. Landour and the walks around are very pretty.

Dear guest, Landour is definitely not as quiet as it once used to be and there are days that the area can get busy. We understand that this was the case during your visit. We hope that the good moments you had will make up for the noisier ones.

Rokeby Manor was nothing short of a magical experience for me and my family. Our stay there exceeded all expectations. The combination of old world charm and modern comfort along with the gracious hospitality and warmth of the staff makes this one of the most memorable trips I have taken. A special shoutout to Sandeep Semwal for his outstanding customer service and responsiveness to every request we had. A truly memorable experience!!!

To escape from the daily rush and noise in the city we went for a 3 day trip to the hills and what best to visit than Landour Cantonment and stay at the beautiful colonial property called Rokeby Manor. The rooms are very well done up, inspite of the fact that the property is more than a century and a half old. Facing the Shivalik hills and the Himalayan ranges, Rokeby Manor is the ultimate place for relaxation, de-stressing oneself and at the same time enjoy the colonial luxury. The highlight of Rokeby Manor is the food served in the restaurant, Emily's; this restaurant epitomises the best of continental food. The Landour Bakery is yet another place to get your bakes and cakes. In addition, the high tea at Rokeby Manor is served with the same style as in Britain; with sandwiches, scones and pastries on the three tier serving stand along with English Breakfast Tea....one is transported to the colonial era no doubt!!

We were a family group of 4 , this was our first trip since early 2020 and Rokeby Manor and team helped make this a memorable experience ! We were at the Pine Tree Lodge and savoured every minute of our stay. Kudos to Sanjay Narang for this wonderful property and letting people have their dream come true of an idyllic holiday in the hills .. would like to thank the management of Rokeby Manor for letting us have a credit shell for 1 year when our travel plans were disrupted a year ago. And hoping am not missing out anybody but a big big thank you Team Rokeby especially Vikram and Sajjan for taking such good care of us with delicious food and comforts , Vikas, Suresh, Sanjay, Lalit, Sailesh, Derek and all the others … so grateful to you all for making our stay so special !
