Rokeby was built in 1840 by Captain G.N. Cauthy and is one of the landmarks of Landour. The house and two acre estate are situated slightly above and to the east of St. Paul's Church and the old cantonment parade ground, which is now Char Dukan. Like many houses in Mussoorie, its name is taken from the writings of Sir Walter Scott, whose book-length poem describes heroic battles near the original Rokeby Castle in England. Methodist missionaries continued to operate the property as a guest house throughout the rest of the 20th century. Today, Rokeby has been carefully restored to its original glory. This heritage building is resplendent with character in its elaborate brick arches and niches, intricate stone walls, real wood floors and beams, and cosy fireplaces. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, the traditions of bygone years – where colonial officers, renegade soldiers of fortune and pious miss saibs lived under one roof – can still be felt. An air of mystery beckons visitors.
Excellent Ambience any one of a kind Hotel… would like to come again and again and again also not to forget lip smacking food and the hospitality of the staff and also the JACUZZI upstairs which is unique as well

It’s a very small cost property with its history and it’s an experience in itself to stay there in beautiful Landour . Def worth a visit . Still the rustic rooms should be more better at the price they charge and also the breakfast spread can be much better . Thanks

Small heritage property, still charming in parts but not kept up with the times, feels tired and dated. Floor was cold but there are no rugs. Fireplaces not functional. Great staff and service. Good food. No views from the rooms and not much open space, so not a place for kids. We were there with a toddler and would not recommended it for small kids. Good for a short getaway though it’s past it’s prime. Not much to do around Landour except walk around and see cafés and a church or two, everything else needs a drive so if you have a car then it’s more suitable otherwise you’ll be stuck in a small property without amenities and limited options.

Absolutely wonderful stay. The hotel is nestled away on top of the Landour ridge away from the hustle bustle of Mussoorie. The historic ambience ( built in 1840) coupled with the blissful tranquility of the town makes it a one of a kind vacation experience. The food at their Emily's restaurant is lovely and so is the overall service. Would strongly recommend to try Landour and try Rokeby Manor hotel there

Looking at the pictures before traveling we had high expectations. Overall the remoteness and the gardens are its biggest asset. Calling this a Manor by any stretch of imagination would be hilarious. There is little privacy, sheet thin walls, and inadequate security. The restaurant seems popular but it’s quite average at best. If I could go back I would stay definitely somewhere else in Mussoorie.

Rokeby Manor is is a place for dreamers, people who believe in experiencing something different, almost like a Fairytale! The moment you step into the reception, it feels Pickwickian and Wodehousian, some people will know exactly what I mean. Though the Christmas seems to remain in Rokeby even if n February, it doesn’t feel odd. My tiny little room in Rokeby was so quaint and ethereal that I think a part of me will stay there forever. The bed which lies along the window, offers a beautiful of valley and on moonlight nights, the sun shines as brightly as the sun. For solo travellers who want a complete break from their daily routine and want to spend a peaceful, restful and dreamy holiday, I would recommend this 100% While my single room was tiny, it had all the creature comforts, including a well equipped bathroom. And yes, lest I forget, at bedtime, they turn down your bed and put a hot water bottle inside the covers to keep you warm as toast! The staff at the Manor are friendly, helpful and warm. There’s a decent supply of books in the lobby, which has a real log fireplace. If you love your own company, you will love the walks around this very quiet neighbourhood, the only pests are monkeys, so it is recommended to keep your arms and hands empty. On Sunday, you can go to the Kellogg Church, the parson’s wife is a friendly soul who will make you welcome!…
