Shiva Gange Guest house overlooking the Ganges. Great location, neat and cosy place. Gives you the vintage old city feeling with all the modern amenities. The views of the river, boats and above all th sunrise in the mornings is divine. Mr. Tandon was courteous and hospitable. Get home cooked food as well.
Diganta Mukherjee Stayed for 3 nights with my parents - 22nd December to 24th December, 2022. Not a very good experience to stay for us. Firstly, the owners (Tandon jee) are money magnets. They will lure guests with decorated pictures of the hotel, but the reality is completely different. It's like a trap for guests, where once you enter, you will fall into the hands of tricksters. Secondly, Indian guests are not welcome in his hotel, the owner takes Indian guests for granted. The main target customers of this so called three star hotel are foreigners, who are easily fooled by this impolite owner. The surrounding and ambience is filthy, littered and unhygienic, and unapproachable by car. There is no lift facility, my parents had to climb up 3 storeys. And Room service ? That's a joke. Breakfast and other meals are served after 1 to 1.30 hours after booking. Complimentary breakfast menu is limited and subject to availability. And if you do not subscribe to the agents of the owner for tour and other purposes, he will misbehave and non-cooperate with you. Lastly, the food bill has to be compulsorily paid in cash (as it is without GST bill for black money purposes). In one sentence- All that glitters is not gold. Will not recommend any Indian guests to book this homestay (though services are worse than homestay). I would never stay in this homestay even for free.…
This place really feels like home. The rooms are clean, the staff is so kind, and the homemade food is just incredible. They have some cool tours to do too, like walking tour with a guide, yoga and meditation, ayurvedic massage. They also provide loundry service. We hightly recommend this place. You will absolutelly feel like you are at home. I also have to mention the incredible rooftop with Ganges view. There yoy can meditate with a yoga teacher and have your meals there too. We loved the experience, it will last in our memories for sure.
The hotel was very nice. Directly located at the Ganga it is only some steps and we were right in the middle of everything. The staff was very friendly and they provided us with delicious home made food. In addition, the terrace view is amazing!
The place is a Ganga Facing heritage building. Staying feals like going back to the memories of original India from the books and movies. The staff are well communicating and make you feel like home. Recommend to come and stay atleast once.
Easily best place to stay in Varanasi, fantastic service and location. Food was absolutely delicious and they were accomodating to all of our needs. Only thing I’d recommend is if you are sensitive to noise see if you can stay on one of the upper levels as the dogs do bark sometimes during the night.
Beautiful heritage property on the banks of the Ganges, located right at Mansarovar ghat. Stayed in a Ganga view room on the second floor. Friendly and helpful staff, always ready to help by going out of their way. Home cooked tasty and healthy food. Nice experience. Would love to visit again. Highly recommended.
All I can say is WOW! Varanasi is the most incredible place that was made even more incredible by our stay at Shiva Ganges View. We arrived late in the evening, very tired after a full day of travel. We were instantly revived after enjoying an amazing meal at the hotel and enjoying the view of the Ganges from the rooftop. All the staff at the hotel are incredibly friendly and helpful and go way out of their way to accomodate any of your needs. The location is PERFECT - seconds away from the river but also located on a more quiet and relaxing part of the river. Would recommend to anyone visiting!
Pros: -Excellent room accommodation; -Homely environment; -being At the bank of river, walking on the ghats in very convenient; -Staffs are available to carry your luggage from main road; -service is also excellent Cons: - no elevator, not a great deal for walkers
Mark Twain said that Varanasi is older than history. When you walk into the Shiva Ganges guest house, you are met with old world charm. This is a magnificent heritage building where the light filters through shutters and windows from the Ganges. The food is that of the Gods. We loved its' homeliness, humour, relaxed atmosphere and the warmth of everyone who lives and works there. Truly an experience in itself, this guest house is the perfect place to stay. The family, Vinod and Sharm went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The best place to stay if you want to explore the alleyways or watch boats cruising along the river and kite fliers from the rooftop.
