From the moment we stepped through into the incredible foyer, we were hooked, everyone doing their utmost to make us feel welcome. We had arranged room 302 on advice of other travellers and it was definitely worth the extra money, the view is just fabulous and it was great waking up in the early morning and seeing the Ganges in...

A very nice hotel for Varanasi. A great place to stay on the Ganges. I found Ramesh and his staff helpful and personable. And, the guide the hotel uses named Pappu put his heart into showing me the city he loves. Pappu is a great guide.

The location is perfect. It just at a ghat so you can easily walk into the Ganges or into a boat. The large burning ghat is reachable within a 5 minute walk. So you watch this incredible phenomenon at a very close distance. All the people are very nice and helpfull. The people at the reception desk, the cleaners, our...

I was skeptical when we arrived to A Palace On The River after seeing a few negative reviews but in actuality we had such an amazing experience there! We were beyond exhausted when we arrived off of a 14 hour train to Varanasi. The hotel managers greeted us warmly, offered us tea, gave us fresh garlands representative of the holy...

great location but we were there for 24 hours and just enought. The 'superior/deluxe view' room (at $125) had a great view but only deluxe due to view. there were no windows and it was very hot and bathrom was probably the worst designed bathroom have stayed in. The rooftop restaurant has great views and food is good but the...

Would it be at the complete and utter disbelief and disappointment at having paid a lot of money and having the door open to a room no better than a motor inn? Would it be the lack of hot water for even one person to shower let alone two? Would it be the grey, hole riddled sheets, the rock hard...

We had a wonderful stay at the Rashmi Guest House just after Christmas. Upon arrival in Varanasi the traffic was such that we could not physically get to the hotel and after a quick call, the porters from the hotel met us and assisted with bringing our luggage. My son was not feeling well and they offered a shower and...

When booking we were told they only had a "Super Deluxe" room left with a partial view of the Ganges. As it was Christmas Day that we were arriving in Varanasi and everything else we looked at was fully booked we swallowed the pricey US Dollar cost ($249 - 2 nights) and considering this was 4 times more expensive than...

Overall this hotel was nice and a good location (once we found it!). Very hard to find and we ended up walking for about 25mins before you finally reached the hotel - there is no direct car access unfortunately. It was extremely pricey for what it was and we were sure we could have found the exact same quality for...
