It is worth getting the hotel to pick you up from the airport. There are no vehicles allowed the last 800m to the Ganges. The taxi driver phones ahead and someone from the hotel will come and carry your bags through the chaos. We recommend you pay extra to get the top room 302 which had great views. You have breakfast in The Dolphin Restaurant in front of the hotel. You can have anything you want from the menu which is cooked fresh to order. Most of the time we had lunch and dinner at the Dolphin as the food was so good. The Dolphin will also serves beer, 500 rupees, even though it is not on the menu.
There are very few hotels with views of the ganges. We recommend this hotel, even with the hassle of getting there, rather than staying at a hotel away from the river. Once there you can walk up and down the river safely.

We stayed at the Rashmi Guest House from 25-27 February and had a wonderful stay. The staff led by Faizan, a taxi was dispatched to collect us from the airport.
The view is worth it over the Ganges and across to the far bank and sand bar with a myriad of stalls, camel rides etc to see. Meals were easily available at the Dolphin restaurant directly in front of the hotel with a good range of veg and non veg meals and drinks.
Arriving in Varanasi late afternoon to discover we were metres from the Dashashwamedh Ghat the evening Aarti ceremony (the ritual of putting Mother Ganga to sleep), we wandered down the steps of the Ghat and felt this is India. Then meandered our way down to the ceremony and were engulfed by the Hindu religious culture. We offered our prayers to our family by laying flowers and candles on Mother Ganga..
The next day after our tour we were able to hire a boat and the oarsman was very adept at this job, he rowed us up to the Manikarnika Ghat (Burning Ghat), then down the river past several Ghats and meandered our way back to our starting point.
It was a special feeling floating along on Mother Ganga, even though there were literally hundreds of boats on the river you did not feel confined at all. We concluded our day again watching the evening Aarti ceremony and having a much better understanding of the ritual that evening. Varanasi you really need more than one day of adventuring to see what she has to offer.

Thank You so much to Faizan Ahmad +91 77060 64203

Rashmi Guest House and associated restaurant is well managed by experienced Hotel manager Sanjeev. Staff take considerable care to look after their guests. The building offer budget accommodation in the most amazing location right on the ghats near the main Aarti which takes place every evening. The rooms vary in expense and facilities; mine had a view of the Ganga, excellent queen size bed and clean bathroom with hot water. Cupboard provided with clothes hangers, kettle & tea with coffee. Associated Dolphin restaurant has well priced meals again with full view of the Ganga and festivities. Sanjeev with notification will arrange for direct taxi from airport to hotel without commission. He can also arrange for tours, and shopping guides to ensure tourists experience fair pricing. I will book again next visit and have trusted Sanjeev in previous visits.

The staff will constantly make you feel they are doing a favour for having you over.
We were made to wait for 2 hrs to get a room inspite of reminding them 4 hrs earlier. The allotted room dint have working fridge/geyser/land line. After a lot of complain, was shifted to a better room next day although the fridge did not work in the new room as well.
The complimentary breakfast is a scam. You can choose only 1 item from the menu. I ordered extra bread and butter for my Son and was ready to pay for it but the way the manager spoke about the cost with a sour attitude made me cancel the order.
The worst is there is no elevator and you have to walk up 3/4 floors with uneven steps. Best part the reception as well has restaurant will share non functional contact numbers and will force you to walk down 4 floors and back every time.

Overall place is only worth the location and room view. Rest all is pathetic.
The staff is the worst.

Absolutely amazing stay for the family. You will have to climb stairs to 2nd and 3rd Floor but it is worth the climb. The view was amazing and the stay was very comfortable. The front desk, service staff and housekeeping all are extremely helpful and made sure our stay was comfortable. Special thanks and call out to Ajay ji the Senior manager who went over and above to help us with local sight seeing and also covering local desi cuisines and lassi! Your smile made our day!!

Highly recommended.

I have stayed at Rashmi Guest house twice and it's a great place to stay if you want to experience the beauty of Varanasi's ghats. Super close to Dasashwamedh it is perfectly located over looking Ganga and most rooms have a great view of the river. It is surrounded by quaint little temples - so you wake up to not only a gorgeous sunrise but also so some soothing chants and temple bells.

The rooms are clean & spacious and the staff brilliant. Specially want to call out Faizan, Manish, Sanjeev ji & Raja for all the amazing hospitality. They were super friendly and helpful with all my requests.

The guesthouse also runs a restaurant which is right next door - Dolphin. So it's easier to grab a bit if you are working remotely and don't have much time.

Highly recommend Rashmi guest house and I definitely see myself going back to this place.

Last month, on the date of 29th September, me and my family checked into Rashmi Guest House situated by the Manmandir ghat, part of Ganga river. This was according to our plan of our visit of Varanasi. After checking in, the rooms were in a very bad state (our room no was 103 and 102). This Hotel need maintenance very badly.

The only good thing about this property was that it had a great view of the river. Hotel is very much near to the Ganga Ghat. Other than that, nothing is good about the Hotel, service was terrible. For instance, we told a waiter to deliver us a bottle of water but when I was about to drink it, I saw sediments floating on the water. Maintenance was also terrible. The geysers didn't have a switch and had to get them turned on from the receptionists.

But if you are preferring a low cost hotel, where you will roam and stay out all day out and only for sleeping, then it's recommended otherwise you can avoid this.

Very bad experience. I booked room from Goibibo and what we saw in pictures about room and what we got, everyone can see in images. And now hotel and not even Goibibo is going to give my money back...I complained and we didnt even check in after looking into the room quality. Very unhygienic and not sanitized...

Aditya Tiwari, whose family owns Rashmi Guest House and the adjoining Dolphin restaurant, is a former badminton champion like his father before him. He became our friend and went out of his way to satisfy our insatiable desire to explore Varanasi. He told us about places and stories not usually known to lay tourists and arranged for us to visit such places with his most friendly staff. He even took us on a boat to an ashram his family is the care taker of. He introduced us to the Dom Raja of Varanasi and we came to know their amazing story. Varanasi would not have been the same without Aditya and his team. The guest house itself is located right on the ghat in central Varanasi and if one word can describe the service, it is super friendly. Highly recommended.

Hi there, I agree with the previous response but would like to add that we got there from the Garija Ghar using Google Maps which was spot on, took a few minutes only. Enjoy your stay, its a fabulous location.
