My wife & I spent two nights at Scindia Guest House. We could not have been more pleased with the facility or the service. The room was clean & comfortable, hot water plentiful (not the norm in most of India's more modest accoms) & the view absolutely spectacular. The manager, Mr. Kush Barman, was extremely helpful & congenial in all dealings, from the initial reservation to the booking of airport transportation upon our departure. He even sent us an ecard on Christmas Day! Highly recommended to any traveller.

I disagree with a good review of Schindhia Guest House... Just stayed there a week ago and had to move to a different hotel cause 1) walk back to the hotel after dark is totally impossible! I was alone and it was a huge problem, maybe not that bad in a group, but individual travellers pretty much won't be able to go out after 6 p.m. 2) staff has some serious attitude problems, 3) there was a lizard in the bathroom !

I had a balcony and a corner room on the top floor. I was constantly visited by monkeys on the balcony. If you leave your balcony door open, and leave food in your room, they are liable to come and get it. I had a friendly gecko in my room periodically. The hotel places you right in the thick of things, but affords you the opportunity to retreat and detach from the ghats. Kush Barman is the young manager, and is a wonderful
