Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river (on supplement charges) -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river.

1 rooms are stinking badly . There is no ventilation Reception staff is very rude . Their website is misleading. They are telling us for lower floor .. which is basement . It is stinking like public toilet The staff is not ready to cooperate. In the name of hertiage building they are proving us stinking rooms

Vinod was very hospitable. We had malai kofta and aloo jeera. The prices were only slightly more than average, but it is a beautiful property with a gorgeous view. There was also live music. We were sat immediately and all staff were attentive and professional. Thanks Vinod for your wonderful service.

Nice hotel. Nice staff. Nice room. Clean room. Ok food; breakfast buffet is extremely limited. If you want anything other than a traditional Indian breakfast your options are toast or toast. No eggs or anything else that resembles western food. But despite all of this …. This hotel is TOO LOUD TOO LOUD TOO LOUD!!! Located near the Ganges in a busy area - the car horns, dogs barking, and religious chanting literally NEVER stops.

My wife and I ( both +60 ) from Kolkata were at PoG from 27th Dec 2023 evening till the 31st evening. PoG is less than 5 minutes walk from Assi Ghat where a lot of activity takes place from 5.30 in the morning; Ganga Aarti, Classical music followed by yoga. The ambience, location, room, house keeping, dining were par excellence. Moreover, the staff ( of any level ) whom we interacted with were extremely courteous, helpful, efficient and always with a smiling face. The buffet breakfast had a very wide spread while the quality / quantity for lunch/dinner/ was tasty, sufficient and priced very reasonably. It is also recommended that the legend/history behind PoG and the contribution of its founders towards society be explored and appreciated. We take pride.

This review focuses on the wonderful restaurant housed in this hotel, Palace on the Ganges. They offer a wide variety of cuisines and the dishes we ordered all were delicious. The service was also very good. It's proximity to Assi Ghat is another plus point. Do visit the restaurant.

My cousins and their friends had stayed here earlier hence this property came with great recommendation on service and hospitality by the staff. The property is also very well kept considering there cant be any remodeling or renovation right at the ghats. We chose the room on the top most floor. Its one room only, quite small actually but we were fine with it. I could get the view of river Ganges from my sofa-cum-bed by the window. There is a double bed as well, and a TV and small closet and a compact bathroom as well. A wee bit cramped but clean and well maintained. We were two of us and hardly spent time in the room hence it didnt matter. it was quite hot when we visited Varanasi, the AC in the room worked just fine and so did the electric kettle. No other amenities in that room. The climb to this floor is arduous if you have a problem climbing stairs. There is a sizeable space outside the room and have a cuppa with a book perhaps on a good weather day. There are a few benches too. Can view the assi ghat aarti from the open space and a clear long stretch view of the river ganges. Location, location and location is all that matters at assi ghat. This is the best property from that pov. Your cab will drop you right at the entrance of the hotel. You dont have to walk at all. The ghat is a 50 metre walk from the hotel and there is a market around this hotel where you can buy everything including forex/sim etc. Most iconic places are close by from this hotel. Mr Vikas and Mr Pranchal at the front office were most helpful! They even offered me to just come over to the hotel and look and then decide if I want to stay there, considering I really wanted to stay at the ghat and was divided between a really luxurious property and this one. Breakfast is a small spread, mix of western and Indian, but fresh and good. Would advise to go across the road and have local kachori + sabji + lassi or kulhad chai (tea in earthen glass) Every floor has a good, well lit, open, common lobby space where you can hang around with friends and family.

Great location! Its just a 3 min walk to where the evening aarti's are held & you get to see 2 of them side-by-side. The morning aarti is also just across the hotel. As a solo female traveler, this made it easy & safe for me to experience the aartis and the Ganges. Being a heritage property, it is old. So don't expect squeaky clean. And there was problems with the plumbing so no hot water for almost a day (plus the drilling as they rushed to fix the problem :-)) The restaurant at the rooftop is great - excellent Lucknowi biryani!

Great view and location from my top-of-the-building terrace room. Extremely small room, but the terrace is the biggest luxury we enjoyed. Reception, check-in, staff was excellent. Though it takes a long time to climb-up for the staff to serve you. But they did it with a smile all the time. Most of the times, there will be no ice, so better buy from outside. Food is great. But be ready for lot of stairs to climb as it's a tall building. The bathroom is small - almost uncomfortable and needs lot of cleaning and re-imagination. Beds were ok.

Such a bad place! Charging heftily .. pretentious goons. Do not come! For two dingy rooms for four nights, we have paid 1.2 lacs. The place is a scam. Experience is a little better than awful .. they have beautiful handmade paintings of some yesteryear’s stalwarts. Staff are average to below average. Feeling like an idiot. Now we are stuck here .. I wish we booked somewhere else..
