We definitely appreciated the charm of the Ganges View Hotel. It is beautifully conceived and executed - in some ways an oasis in the mayhem that is Varanasi. Our rooms were lovely and well-appointed (if full of mosquitoes - make sure to keep your doors closed at all times!). Beds were comfortable. Public areas were also beautiful, and staff were...

The hotel is in a great location for you to start your walk up the ghats. Our room was very beautifully decorated and quite large. The restaurant serves only vegetarian food, however it is delicious and full of interesting art work. If you require a mini bar and tv in your room stay somewhere else but we did not find...

Varanasi is quite an in your face city and the Hotel Ganges View offered tranquility as well as a respite from the cultural over load. It is clean, well taken care of, and comfortably quiet. The food (all vegetarian) was very good. Breakfast was also excellent and the staff is very accomodating. Overall the was the best small hotel on...

This is a lovely hotel with lots of character. We stayed in a room on teh top floor that was spacious, nicely decorated and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable and there was also a seating area outside our room with a good view of the river. It was nice to have a tranquil space to go back to when...

We decided to blow our backpacking budget and spent 3 nights here. But it was definitely worth it. The room was lovely, beautifully decorated with peacocks everywhere and by a mile the most comfortable bed we've slept in in India. But this is of course compared to much cheaper hotels so perhaps to be expected. The food was very good...

The Hotel Ganges View is an authentic Indian property set on the banks of the Ganges at Assi Ghat. We've been here for two nights and have found the experience to be really good. Our room is river facing with a balcony, it's clean with good furnishings and decorated in a pleasing Indian style. The bathroom is a little rough...

We were in room 19 – a room with a river view – and it was a lovely room. In addition, the food was excellent, particularly the Indian breakfasts, and the common areas (terrace and sitting-rooms) were a good place to meet other travellers. However, the Durga festival created a great deal of noise late into every night of our stay, which...

This hotel felt like an old Haveli. If you like antiques and old world charm then this is the place for you. It overlooks the Ganges but I did not see any rooms with an actual view that "Begley85" mentioned in his/her review. The four-poster bedrooms are decorated with original paintings done by an artist who was working on the...

Very good location and the view on the Ganges is fabulous from the balconies (though there is a screen that spoils a little bit the view) or the top terrace. However, it is quite overpriced since the bathroom aren't all very classy and the decoration is in poor taste (mickey mouse clock and Winnie the pooh carpet). Other than that,...

Six months ago we booked a room and had confirmation (river view room on top floor). When we arrived we found that a small group of Americans had arrived the day before and had taken our room so we were not on top floor and no river view. I expressed my displeasure and had my travel agent talk to the...
