We had an excellent few days staying with Monu and his family in Varanasi. The upper bedroom was clean, spacious, quiet and has a small roof terrace to relax away from the bustle of the city. The guesthouse is very well situated in the old town and Monu gave us helpful advice about Varanasi and our onward journey. I would definitely go back to this guesthouse if I return to Varanasi.
The three of us had a wonderful cooking class at Monu’s Guesthouse! We learned how to make chapatis, mixed vegetables and dhal for a thali. Hindu explained is everything and made us laugh with her stories. She gave us tips to never fail the food and we eat at the end, it was delicious!! We didn’t stay there but will definitely recommend to book a cooking class there! Thanks for your kindness and take care!
I was initially supposed to stay 4 days. Ended up staying nearly 2 weeks. Really enjoyed my time there. The family is very nice, and great hosts! I felt very comfortable. Will def stay there again at my next visit. Thank you for your hospitality and looking after me during my stay. Much appreciated!
Centrally located cozy and private guest house featuring ensuite bathrooms, clean and comfortable accommodation in a family atmosphere. Breakfast was included, with option of other meals and snacks if needed. Very helpful family, and very close to Kashi Vishveshwar temple, Annapoorna Temple, and Dashashwamedh Ghat where Ganga Aarti happens in the evenings.
We had a really great stay at Monu‘s guesthouse in Varanasi. Don’t get me wrong, it is a simple place to stay and you do hear noises from the street but the value for money is really worth it. Monu and his family was always helpful and super kind. He organized airport transfer and a boat tour for really fair prices. Don’t miss out on the rooftop! Thank you for a nice couple of days in Varanasi!
Living in the guesthouse of Monu and his family feels like coming home. Breakfast was very tasty and Monu helped us a lot planning our sight seeing tour through Varanasi and our further trip through India. We can highly recommend this guesthouse!
Me and two friends stayed at Monu’s for our 3 nights in Varanasi and it was great. Monu helped us organise pick up from the train station and met us to walk us to the guest house - it’s a bit of a maze in the lanes of Varanasi so it was very helpful!! The guest house itself is full of personality and very colourful and we had some very delicious breakfasts there too. The location is great - very close to the ghats but also off a bit of a side street so doesn’t feel too hectic. A great stay.
Monu’s guesthouse is simple but comfortable. His wife and daughter are delightful and his parents who have shop right next door are also fully integrated into the scene. We felt safe and cared for in a very very intense and unique city. The rooftop is a good feature where you can watch neighborhood kids flying kites and be watched by monkeys. The Golden Temple is right around the corner. Monu also included us, musicians, in an evening jam with his sitar playong friend and his great tabla playing. Very special. We recommend this place for non-fussy adventurers and budget travellers.
So many good reviews and I’m not sure why.. the place is dirty and not friendly, highly disappointed. Breakfast is 3 slices of toast. For a short stay it is ok but I regret to say I wouldn’t recommend. The wife and daughter are sweet.
Monu and his family are very friendly and willing to help, good walking & boat tour & others can be organised. The location is very central and close to the famous golden temple. Use the description here and/or maps.me and it’s easy to find. We liked the surrounding area, very authentic. The guesthouse itself was cosy, good bed and shower, fast wifi and tasty breakfast included, overall very good value. We could have stayed longer. Thank you and all the best.
