Was looking forward to staying in Agra but this hotel soured our experience, staff are inefficient, a/c did not work, water smelled horrendous and work was going on. The manager there who appeared to be helpful really was not very nice, impolite and rude to staff and tried to overcharge and compel us t use certain services we didn't want... More

The hotel was near the bus station which is convenient. The first thing the owner warned us for was taxi drivers. Helped us being certain of the amount we needed to pay the taxi driver or auto rickshaw driver. The room was very nice and so was the service.

Rates are economical but service is lacking. There is no manager/owner at the hotel (actually a motel), they operate from some remote location. Every time the staff goofs up, the managers/owners are contacted on the phone and they bark orders. Before check-in you are promised the moon, the nightmare begins after check in. Never take a car hire from them,... More

Do not stay in this hotel. Out of fairness I'll start with the good. The hotel is quite clean, and feels fairly modern. That's pretty much it. Now the bad. First, each room is equipped with its own water heater, which by itself should be fine. The problem is, the heater is incredibly small, with a full tank lasting less... More

I stayed at Taj Homestay for 2 nights in late Dec. 2008. The term homestay is misleading as it felt more like a small hotel, with rooms coming off a center marble staircase, and no mingling or chatting with the family or staff. The homestay serves well as a resting point for sightseeing, but may be too basic for travellers... More

We stayed in this hotel from December 14 till December 16, 2008. The hotel belongs to the same hosts as Incredible HomeStay (see my review of this hotel to get a better idea of the whole chain). The room was fine, clean, with TV, hot water shower, fridge and air conditioner. The roof top restaurant is strange, just one table,... More

agra was our first stop in my india trip in late november 2008. we arrived in the evening straight from delhi once landed. the email was responsive enough. and the pickup worked out after i phoned them when i was on train from delhi to agra -- so that was relief considering the chaos i've been through since i landed.... The Taj Homestay was clean and well run - laundry service was good too. Breakfast was fine. It 's a little way from the Taj but this was probably an asset. Certainly it was easy to go sight seeing across the river from here. My only reservation was the pushy nature of the reception staff. They had drivers available and... More

We didn't actually get to stay in this homestay in the end so I can't comment on the rooms or interior. We were getting the train from Delhi and knew we'd be arriving in the evening so emailed the Taj Homestay to let them know when we were arriving and to confirm we were definitely coming (We'd found that some...
