My first trip to India so I was a bit hesitant; especially since I was traveling alone but Aman Homestay took care of everything a traveler could need or want for my week long stay in Agra. I would consider this to be more of home away from home or a boutique bed and breakfast over a hotel. My stay was absolutely wonderful.
The amazing Tuk-Tuk driver, Vicky who escorted me around town is a well established and trusted man at the hotel. Vicky’s knowledge of the local shops and personal connections makes exploring the city of Agra feel pretty amazing. From fabric shops to marble inlay, local tea shops and fresh juice carts, and embroidery that is more art than anything else, Vicky is your man.
My tour guide, Muhammad Tariq Mughni, was fabulous while visiting the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. He took wonderful photos and videos and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of India and historical sites.
Despite everything I saw and did, my favorite part of India was the home cooked meals for breakfast and dinner that was served at Aman Homestay. My room was exceptional with a nice sized walk in shower and I loved the terraced rooftops- I was able to sip my tea and amaze at the Taj Mahal not far away or down at the busy local streets. Monkeys and wild green parrots were often enjoying the rooftop sunrise as well!
India is a huge country with lots to see and experience but I will definitely be returning with my small children (ages 2 and 8) so they too can enjoy the exotic country of India.

We stayed at Aman Homestay for one night and found it perfect. The room was large for 3 of us and very comfortable. The meals were delicious and prepared by the owner, Ranjana. Her children help run the homestay and were very helpful. We ate with other people staying in the hotel and it felt like being in someone's home, not a hotel. The homestay also arranged a driver to take us to Jaipur which was very helpful.

This property is only 6-7 yrs old but already makes it's mark in hospitality business. Only 3 km away from Tajmahal and 7 km away from Agra cantt Railway station, this homestay is run by a great lady named Mrs. Ranjana Faujdar and her family. My scorecard are as follows - Surroundings 5/5, Hospitality 5+/5, Rooms 5/5, Cleanliness 5 +/5, Food 5/5, Location 4+/5. If you are planning to visit Agra then don't hesitate to book it or call @900 718 4000 to make your stay cool and calm in this homely atmosphere. Car rental is available as per requirements including pick up and drop.

Stayed at Aman Homestay for 2 days and 1 night and had a great experience. It's a really cool setup. The home and rooms are spacious, clean and designed in a really cool way. We loved the rooftop lounge that provided a place to relax with awesome views of the city and Taj Mahal. The location is ideal and within walking distance of the Taj. Above all, the staff was great. They were responsive, provided great recommendations, and served up tasty food in a home like atmosphere. The value of this place is great and highly recommended for your stay in Agra!

It is easy to see why this homestay has 5 star ratings. Firstly I’d like to explain about the ‘homestay’ bit. Initially this put me off a little because I thought I’d be sleeping in a spare room in the family’s house. This is absolutely not the case. This establishment has 19 letting bedrooms and for us westerners, I’d say it most closely resembles an upmarket B&B.
Communications with Aman were easy from before I booked with every question being answered.
Aman organised our airport taxi. It’s absolute bedlam when you come out of the airport, passengers are loaded onto buses (which you have to take and it’s 50 rupees each plus tip for guy who snatches your cases off you and loads them into the bus). Taxis are not allowed on the airport grounds. Once through the gates, you’re on a bustling street with dozens and dozens of locals jostling at the windows to be your taxi driver. I’ve never been so pleased to see someone with a piece of paper with my name on it!! He followed the bus on foot and got us safely off and took us to Aman. Thus cost about £4 I think so definitely worth asking Aman to organise.
Room was well appointed as was the bathroom. There was soap, shower gel etc if needed, water and little snacks daily.
Breakfast is optional and is cooked by Mum. No need to book. Large menu, write down what you’d like and it’s cooked to order. Most people choose to sit at larger tables and chat to others, although there are a few smaller tables if you’re not feeling personable. In this area there is also an honesty fridge with soft drinks, water, beer and wine available 24/7 - make a note of what you have and let Aman know when you come to check out. Lots of people eat here at night too - just let them know by 16:30.
We had the hotel driver Vicky throughout our stay and we were so glad. He’s amazing, getting us everywhere safely with lots of hints and tips too. We paid for all the journeys on check out then gave him a tip. No one in the hotel expects a tip all the time, like everywhere else we visited. There is a tips box on the desk for when you check out and it was actually lively to put a larger tip in there for Aman to share out.
The roof terraces are absolutely lovely and in a clear day you can see the Taj Mahal. Lots of monkeys on adjoining roofs too (as everywhere in Agra, Aman loves music and there is a baby grand piano on the roof which my husband played for them and we also did some singing with Aman- great sound set up. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We wouldn’t hesitate to return here if we went back to Agra. It’s a beauty family set up with all the professionalism of a hotel.

We spent 2 nights here. I had booked the accommodation based on reviews and photos showing a beautiful roof top terrace with views over Agra. On arrival it was clear to see the hotel is undergoing major refurbishment. The entrance is a building site with the front being completely remodelled. This was a surprise and disappointing, as we had hoped to enjoy spending time on the roof terrace shown on their website and booking sites. It would have been courteous to have contacted us before our stay to tell us about this and perhaps have offered a discount, however they did not.

Putting aside the current building work, they were considerate and gave us a large comfortable room that I believe was an upgrade to the one we had booked. The building work did not impact our sleep and we were out touring during the day. Just bear this in mind if you are expecting to arrive and enjoy drinks on the roof!

We planned to do a tour of Wildlife SOS Bear and Elephant Centres with a stop at Akbar’s tomb the day we arrived and they
kindly arranged for a taxi to collect us from the station and drive us for the day. The price was comparable with other quotes, so we accepted, however I would recommend that if you are travelling within the main areas an Uber is more competitive than the prices listed by the hotel. Furthermore, the taxi driver organised by the hotel was very keen to take us to other sites and to shops. We reluctantly went to a marble shop which was admittedly very interesting and we purchased some coasters, however we had not planned to do this and found ourselves parting with 5000RS for 3 marble coasters. The coasters are exceptionally beautiful but never would I typically spend that amount on coasters. We are backpacking to keep our costs down. We are travelling for the experience and not to shop. We then spent further time being shown jewellery but firmly said we did not want to buy I they finally accepted. We had started our day at 5am and been on the move for 12 hours so were tired so when we got back in the taxi and he asked for us to go into a spice shop we strongly asked to be dropped back at our hotel and he agreed.

In summary, our stay here was not quite what we had hoped for but was very comfortable. The staff are kind and friendly, we were provided with a simple tasty breakfast and the evening meal we paid for was very good. The taxi driver they use does do a hard sell, so bear this in mind if you book him.

Slightly miffed that this guesthouse is so highly-rated. On the plus side it's in a fabulous location - you can walk to the east gate of the taj Mahal - and there are a couple of nice restaurants nearby. The staff were nice but not particularly quick to respond there seems to be a tendency to "go with the flow", which is fine if you're planning on spending a long time in Agra (I don't think many people do). The rooms are clean but not overly warm or cosy and breakfast was fine but overpriced for local equivalents. Overall it's an okay place to stay, especially considering that Agra doesn't demand too much time other than to cover fort and the Taj, and probably good if you're bored of bland hotels.

I had a wonderful, one night stay in Agra. Aman has a great family home here and was very welcoming. I liked that it was family operation with his mom and sister doing the meal prepartion in the kitchen just off the dining area. I chose to have dinner and breakfast which were both delicious and affordable. Just know dinner is family style, around the one large table, at the set time of 730pm. I was travelling alone and the only english speaker at my table so dinner for me was pretty much in silence with the others ate and talked but that was just fine with me. Dinner was delicious, vegetarian Indian. Hotel has beer available (a big plus for me, as it can be a bit challenging to find places). The hotel has two upper, outdoor terrace areas that are great for hanging out, having a beer, checking out the views over the city and the Taj Mahal. The location is perfect for visiting the Taj as it is a very short walk, probably 3 minutes, to the spot where you catch electric carts that whisk you to the east gate of the Taj Mahal. Found my room and bathroom to be very clean, comfortable and basic. You have to remember it's not a Hilton but it also only costs a little over $40......so it more than met my expectations, which is why I have rated it so well. Great water pressure in the shower.

We really enjoyed our two night stay here. Loved the colored lighting in the room, the friendly staff, and the fact that it was just a short walk to the Taj. Breakfast was great and homecooked- they served different meals both days we had it. This is a nice place to base yourself in Agra!

The Aman Homestay is perfectly located, a short walk from the Taj Mahal east entrance gate.
This boutique hotel is very professionally managed by a charming family who has a passion for hospitality and truly take care of their guests. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated.
The mother is cooking the best vegetarian Indian cuisine full of savors. The breakfast is also very good. At night the son is playing piano and singing on the upper terrace, which is really very pleasant. This short stay was an amazing experience.

Hello, the catering offered is all vegetarians food and delicious. When you book, you book room only and when you arrive, you can add breakfast and an evening meal for IR 1000 per day (£5) per person. The food is cooked in front of you , is wholesome and we ate there for three days with no problems at all. Eggs can also be requested at breakfast and I recommend the omelettes. When you go, you can easily walk to the Taj, but please also visit the baby Taj on the other side of the river as this is equally spectacular and not often visited by tourists. If you need any tips or help please get in touch with me as we go every year and last went in Jan this year (before all this madness). We have lots of contacts and great hotels ( and know the ones to avoid) especially if you are visiting the Golden Triangle and would be happy to share our experiences. Feel free to get in touch.

Yes , elevators to all floors. Our room certainly had a/c (except the bathroom which had the most powerful fan I've ever seen!) The a/c was very effective. I don't know what was inside the mattresses but we slept very well. We had a lovely stay, and the home cooking was amazing!
