I stayed here as part of a group and perhaps, on reflection , should have requested a change of room. It took three trips back down to the main desk to actually penetrate the room as it seemed very difficult to supply me with a working key card. No fun when travel weary. Someone in the past had invested heavily in an electronic type device to close curtains, adjust lights etc from the bed. However it didn't work at all and the curtains were jammed and I had to climb in and out of bed to turn lights on and off and the room was very cold The bath was chipped and both rooms needed redecorating , However the house hold staff ensured it was clean.
Out of the five places I stayed in India this had the worst breakfast. The buffet choice was poor and the service slow . It was adequate though, just. The hotel has some very reasonable and well stocked shops in the foyer and is central for most sites. Other guests were pleased with their rooms so i cam only assume that as a single traveller I was given a poor one.

As i was visiting Agra for first time, i had very bad experience of the hotel, as they had goofed-up with my booking. when i went to hotel at 1.30pm for check-in they bluntly told me that they don't have any rooms available, whereas i had booking confirmation from cleartrip, they didn't even showed the courtesy that if they goofed-up about the booking atleast they could have suggested some hotel or anything else. I had go searching around the city for another hotel for an hour, after which i had to shell-out Rs.5500/- for a 3 star hotel.

I had my group to yamunaview in February. I had very good previous experience of this hotel.
But
Now
It was horrible. Same staff but very poor in service.food was average. Pool side was dirty. I told them in noon to arrange dinner at pool side but till night it was not cleaned /arranged. When students visit such place like Agra. I wish that they go with good unforgotable memories but few poor services ruined.

The foyer to the hotel Ashok looked fantastic and I thought I had got a good hotel. However, on seeing my twin room I realised looks can be deceiving. The first room I tried smelt very damp, some of the carpet was coming up off the floor and when I went into the bathroom there was something unidentifiable but brown splattered up the back of the door. I requested to change rooms.

The next room still smelt of damp but the carpet was stuck to the floor and there was nothing splattered on the bathroom door. Progress. It turned out that the room was right next to the road and lorries drive along there, honking their horns all night, sleep proved to be elusive. Even without the traffic the pillows were so nasty that you wouldn't want to put your head on them anyway.

Don't stay there. There has to be a better hotel in Agra. Plus it's changed its name to something else. I think it has the family in its title. Watch out.

Also, they have a microwave in the restaurant which they use to nuke the breakfast

Naming anywhere the .......... View implies that there is a view of something, in this case the Yamuna river lapping up to the Taj Mahal. This might be the case if you employed a CCTV drone or the attack periscope from a nuclear submarine but with the naked eye, no.
The hotel is very dated from the exterior and also the rooms, the first we refused on the grounds that plaster was blowing off the walls and the bath was a fetching black colour! The staff at reception couldn't seem to understand what the problem was and were most reluctant to assist. So to dinner: oh, the restaurant is entirely empty, I wonder why? OK, we'll go to the bar, is it open, oh yes, the barman was asleep on a sofa, now it's open. What, no gin? OK beer then. Thus to breakfast: truly horrible, how unusual, a no choice buffet. Sadly we were here two nights and although the restaurant manager found us in the bar and gave us a free dinner (which incidentally was OK) I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers.

There is always a problem of water in rooms I believe there is a permanent problem with the room/part of the building we stayed in and, for the price of this hotel, it's not really acceptable to offer people a tap and bucket when it says hot shower in the advertising but what was even worse was, instead of just warning me about this problem (or potential problem) and telling me the solution (of using the tap and bucket).
manager is not seems so well because we asked so many times to fix problems, towels and cleaning but he always denied us what to say more You would here the honking less if the windows in the hall were closed. But they were working on it, so probably only temporary.
not good at all for stay

Found this hotel on the Tourism counter and forced the taxi driver to take us there since it is centrally located and near all attractions in Agra , specially the Taj Mahal. Taxi drivers would try to lure you to other hotels but you have to insist on going to the hotel you want. Its neat and clean and has descent bathrooms with bathtubs etc. Nice to relax in a hot-tub after a tiring day outside. Made our experience in Agra really comfortable....Kudos to the staff and management. They used to call it Hotel Agra Ashok when I had been there.

A large, though ordinary-looking hotel with spacious rooms and and an impressive black marble and glass bathroom; but it was all downhill from there. The toilet smelled putrid of stale urine, and the crusty build-up around the toilet seat indicated that it had not been properley cleaned for quite some time, and the air-conditioning was virtually ineffective. The reception staff rudely didn't bother even to acknowledge a guest until they had finished looking at their computer. When they finally did, they were aloof, unfriendly and indifferent. The food was average, the service superficial and somewhat pretentious, particularly the maitr'd. The upstairs bar staff just went through the motions, yet tried to serve the Indian version of the international spirit I requested and then wanted to argue the matter when I politely complained. I've never bothered to write a review before as I am fairly easy-going, and tolerant of of many small issues but this hotel fell badly short in some important areas; and a smelly toilet is inexcusable and unacceptable

Response from HotelYamunaView, General Manager at Hotel Yamuna View
Responded 6 Jul 2013
Dear Guest We are extremely saddened and pained to receive such a distressing feedback from your end Hospitality is always a work in progress and it is customers like you who give us the regular reality check and keep us on our toes. However We wish you had spoken to one of our staff members who would have definitely looked into the matter and resolved the problem. Though we are not perfect we do have many good things at our hotel and we are really saddened that none of these things appealed to your fine tastes . On behalf of our entire staff here at Yamuna View we thank you for your business and apologies for your discomfort. We hope you come again to Agra give us a chance to show you that this is definitely not us and that we can do so much better .

A hotel i will never forget, i had to stay for a day since all other hotels were booked. The lobby is dingy with plenty of clutter, rooms were stinking as if they had not been opened for days, toilets were just okay with you not feeling like touching anything extra, basic amenities like tea maker was not available and even after reminding the reception was not provided, the buffet was atrocious with only fish in N/Veg (what about those who do not eat fish), for pack breakfast (early morning) permission had to be taken & the items in the mini bar were old, the bed sheets did not appear to have been changed etc etc. The ad saying " pooch ke bataonga" is apt for the staff. Went almost into a depression in one day. Avoid at all costs.

I agree with the many others who had a very bad experience here. They must, somehow, get travel agents to book people in here. Our stay was part of a package tour including car and driver. The lobby smells of stale aftershave. The carpets are worn, torn and dirty. The only up side is that there are two restaurants on the property which is important since Agra is a charmless city that tourists cannot walk around. The pool area is also nice but that's about all the pluses. The front desk is also inept. We left a wakeup call the first night so we could be up early to view the Taj Mahal at daybreak and the call never came. Luckily, we had set an alarm clock to wake us. When I went to the desk to let them know they said they did not have a request for a wakeup call for our room. I stood there and watched them write our request for a call the next morning in their ledger.
