It was an absolute pleasure to stay at the Mela Kothi, hosted by the gracious Mrs and Mr Singh and the wonderful staff at the property. The campus is sprawling with many many trees and open spaces. The rooms are very well spread out, we stayed in the main wing and our room was very well appointed and there were no hassles at all. There was even a tube of odomos in the room, which I must point out we did not need. I have seen a few reviews saying lizards in room etc and I must point out this is not an urban setting but a rural one in the wilderness and I would be very surprised if there were no lizards or insects around ! Please when you visit do the chambal river safari for sure , it was a different and a wonderful experience and it helped to have a very good guide in Gajendra. The food at the lodge was very tasty. Both airtel and jio work decently all over the property. There are no televisions anywhere and I am very thankful to the owners for this. This really is not the place to watch tv. I hope to be back soon at this lovely place ..…
This place is abode for Nature lovers or for those who really care for environment. It is huge property (out of which 80 to 90% is donated to nature to let it grow on her own). All meals were extremely delicious and properly cooked with little spices and little sugar. All bakery, pickles and jaggery were also made in-house and were very tasty. The feel of the property is just calming, soothing and amazing. One should not miss Chambal river safari, specially for those who love to see ghariyals, crocodiles, turtles, and variety of birds. Whole property is no plastic zone and filled with ecofriendly and heritage items. We can't forget Ram Pratap ji and Anu ji who really care for their guests, property and the environment. Someone may find it costly but every single penny is worth to spend. Nearby places to visit are Bateshwar temple, Jain temple, holipura village and of course chambal river safari. Note: Don't get confuse it with Chamble wildlife safari lodge which is different and below standard property. 5 star dil se for "Chambal Safari Lodge- Mela Kothi" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐…
Stayed at the Chambal Safari Lodge for 3 days and 2 nights, and we really enjoyed all aspects of our time here- the resort, the room, the food, and the bird/wildlife watching. We loved the layout of the resort- the cottages were spread out across a green, woodsy area in clusters, allowing for guests to have privacy. Our room was called Surkhab (Ruddy Shell Duck)- which was lovingly decorated with wooden furniture, with lots of space to relax. There were also lovely little extras like Blue Tokai coffee sachets in the tea/coffee setup! The food was really yummy- some of our favorites were the desserts such as lemon tart, and white chocolate blondie/brownie. When we arrived, we were paired up with a naturalist named Bachu Singh, and he accompanied us on a Chambal River Safari, and also guided us on a bird walk of the grounds. He was super knowledgeable about wildlife- especially birds- and we saw over 30 species of wildlife including gharial, ruddy shell duck, brown hawk owl, orange-headed thrush, and Indian Tent turtles during out time there. The service from the staff was also really great- everyone was super helpful, and Anu, the owner, was really welcoming, as well. Overall, I can highly recommend Chambal Safari Lodge, and hope to go back again someday!…
Mela Kothis is a perfect place for bird watching and nature photography groups very close to Agra and a secluded spot where you could just be close to nature. One could even take kids for a rural experience to this place.
This was a nice trip to Mela Kothi although i feel the place is highly priced . In case the prices are better i think more travellers would opt for this place . It is a well managed property . Nature and peace is all around the place . One can relax well . I would be happier if it had a small pool or pool villa and a SPA . The food is good . Excellent hospitality .
One of our best safaris and stay experience at Chambal Safari lodge where you can hv best of both the worlds. From experiencing undiluted nature to thoughtfully carved out stay you are bound to get flavour of sheer rural life while having all the comforts of home. For me it's like Chambal River Safari nahi kiya toh U.P. kya dekha !!!
We visited in feb 2021 - a family trip.. what an amazing place , with a great staff team and amazing food.. the owners were so warm and friendly.. felt like a home away from home.. really enjoyed the hospitality, safaris and the whole ambience. Sad could just visit for 4 nights. I guess that’ll make us visit again. 😊 I don’t think we will stay in 5 star properties near Agra anymore! This place is a treat for nature lovers! 7 star/ beyond And last but not the least the nimbu ka aachar is to die for! 😎
We 3 couples stayed here for a weekend and travelled all the way from Jaipur and Delhi to this place. First, the room allotment was a total mess. We booked 3 rooms in sheesham sarai but were given only two . Two of us were given a room elsewhere despite our confirmed booking and advance. The owner told us to adjust or take a refund. The linen was not of good quality. The food was ok but not worth the charges we paid. A too costly place , almost 10000 INR a day for a couple in lowest category room. No WiFi, no intercom and poor connectivity with lizards ,ants and mosquitoes in room.
Wasted one day from our three days holiday after a year gap. We were not given the three rooms together though we booked a month back and on top of that the owner had the guts to say that she is sorry and she can give us the refund knowing very well that there is no place to go anywhere nearby. It is overpriced . Bees and lizards in the room were scary. Breakfast served was nothing great. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
We travelled over a long weekend to Mela Kothi. Travel time from Delhi (via Yamuna Expressway and Agra-Lucknow Expressway) is under 4 hours. Anu and Ram are among the most graceful hosts we have come across; they are so welcoming, kind and make you feel at home. Not to forget the absolutely hassle-free check-in experience; Star-rated/Boutique hotel chains have a lesson or two to learn here. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and they really do make sure that you are taken care of and show great attention to detail. You get authentic local cuisines, with a "home-made" feel which, ought to be due to the locally and organically grown veggies and fruits. Lunch, for a change, is served in the lawn in front of the reception. Ram and Anu could arrange a "must-do boating in Chambal River" in the company of the in-house naturalist, Bachhu Singh. If there's one more reason to why one should often visit Mela Kothi, it should be to learn from Bachhu Singh; an incredibly experienced birder and naturalist. We were forced to check out much earlier than our planned departure due to a personal emergency with our dog. They were kind and gracious enough to understand our situation and did not charge us, which they had every right to, under the booking rules, for the remaining days in our original booking. Anu and Ram prove right the adage; Class always shows without being announced. Must-visit, Must-meet, Must-do!…
