Comfortable Environment – The property offers a serene and cozy experience, ideal for those looking to unwind.
Cons:
Cleanliness Needs Improvement – The cleanliness of the rooms, particularly the washroom, requires more attention. Despite reporting my concerns on the first day, the issue was not addressed during my stay. This is an area that definitely needs improvement.
Small Property Size – While the ambiance is great, the overall size of the property is on the smaller side, which may limit some experiences.
Slightly Pricey Restaurant – The food quality is good, but the pricing is on the higher end.

Standard rooms have no views and the windows open into work space.
Garden rooms have good views of the Ooty valley.
Toilets are clean and comfortable.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Restaurant space is very artistic and antique, with lots of woodwork and fire places.
European and continental dishes are very well done.
The location of the new bar is a tragedy as it reduces the lawn space and blocks of splendid views of the Ooty valley.
One gets the feeling that the place is more and more run by and run for people who can't fully appreciate it's real historical value.
However, there were significant downsides to my experience. Ooty's ban on plastic means that hotels provide drinking water in glass bottles. Unfortunately, one of the bottles in my room had a thick layer of green algae, which was concerning. I’m relieved I didn’t fall ill. Additionally, the bedsheets were stained, which was disappointing. Although the instruction menu stated that hot water would be available from 6 to 10 AM and PM, it was inconsistent. Despite the Little Earth Group's claims of eco-friendly practices, I had to waste 2-3 buckets of water before hot water would finally come through.
The resort offers complimentary high tea from 5 to 5:30 PM. When I arrived around 5:20, I found there were no snacks available, and I had to order tea and wait. After reminding two staff members, I finally received my tea after a 15-minute wait, but they completely forgot to bring the snacks.
BEWARE, King’s Cliff seems to cater to large groups, hosting noisy parties. During my stay, one such event went on until about 2:30 AM, with loud music and excited guests screaming their lungs out. Despite several requests to the staff for some peace and quiet, my concerns were not addressed.

It is a pleasant place to stay and has all the basic amenities.
The staff are very helpful and attempts to fulfill most of your needs. Of particular mention is Ms. Irsha and Mr. Marshall who were always there to assist us.
The rooms are nice but not very bright as not much natural light flow into the rooms. We stayed in a Deluxe Room/Bungalow or whatever it was called and although the room was large and had a fireplace, natural lighting was lacking.
Those who are frequent hill station visitors will understand what I mean and how important an airy and bright room adds to the "feel good" factor at hill stations.
Also as King's Cliff is located in a grotto surrounded by hills you do not get a view of the rolling green Nilgiri's from your room. You have to come out in the lawn for that.
The food is nice and the Continental cuisine is ok for most purposes. However it does get very crowded during dinner and lunch, with many "walk-in" customers and you may have to wait quite a while for your order to come through. I placed an early order, at 6:30pm, for my daughter's dinner, a simple pasta, to be served at 7:30pm and had to resort to multiple reminders after 7:30pm to have it on the table. By that time kids being kids get cranky to the high heaven's!
Some facilities need to improve because these are now considered to be a regular feature of any vacation/staycation premises.
Firstly: Mobile signal. You will hardly get a signal bar or two in the rooms and data streaming is non existent. Be it any telecom service provider. The situation improves in the common lobby area or if you are in front of the porch. The hotel has a Wi-Fi but availability of that in the rooms is non existent.
Secondly: Laundry facilities are not consistently available. What I understood is that the hotel authorities get the laundry done by launderers who are externally contracted, whose services cannot be assured everytime. We stayed for three days and could not get our laundry done.
Thirdly: Although on a family visit, this is not very important, but if you are in the mood for your favourite tipple, you will not be able to as the hotel does not have a bar! It is to do with the Tamil Nadu Government regulation of having a minimum of 16 rooms for a hotel to have bar facilities. They do not have that, so it's just your bad luck!
Fourthly: if you are travelling with a kid and if he or she is more than 4/5 years old, it is better to take an extra bed as the standard bed will be a squeeze to accomodate all three of you.
To summarise, I would say, that King's Cliff is an "ok-ish " sort of place. You cannot call it excellent, neither can you call it bad. Teh staff particularly are very courteous and that's something i genuinely appreciated. King's Cliff has it foibles which need to be ironed out. For the amount they charge, we have experienced better standards in hill stations of India during peak tourist season in Himachal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, West Bengal even at Kodaikanal.
Would I stay there again? Probably not. Would I recommend a stay for others? Be aware of the shortcomings and take a call.
Cheers!

We were a family of five renting 2 rooms. The bigger room which was garden facing was lovely with a small verandah. The smaller room was cozy but a little stuffy as it was an interior room in the house. The decor is simple.
The staff is attentive. We interacted with Shashi who was very helpful and answered all our questions most satisfactorily. Sekhar from housekeeping was very attentive as well and helped to make our stay comfortable.
The restaurant lives up to it's online reviews. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating in the glasshouse. Both are comfortable and the food is delicious. The staff is considerate towards dietary requirements, however we missed out on their famous Shahi tukda because the chef felt it wasn't a good batch and chose not to serve it. The Indian as well as south east Asian dishes are quite tasty. Breakfast is okay, it felt like the parathas were made from leftover aloo subzi. I'm okay to eat that at home, maybe not in a hotel even if I'm pro-sustainability. Ooty and Coonoor are plastic free so we would get a bottle filled from the hotel when we stepped out. The RO water is heartening as we're still not there as a country from a potable tap water POV.
All in all, highly recommend King's Cliff.

The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, and have a cozy, vintage feel. The fireplace in the room added a special touch, making it perfect for Ooty’s chilly evenings. The staff were incredibly hospitable and attentive, ensuring every need was met promptly.
One of the highlights was the food at their restaurant, Earl’s Secret. This is the best restaurant in entire Oot, the vibe is excellent. The menu had a great variety, and every dish I tried was flavorful and well-prepared. Dining amidst the lush gardens was a delightful experience.
The location is ideal for those seeking peace and tranquility, away from the bustling town, yet close enough for sightseeing.
Overall, King’s Cliff is a perfect blend of history, comfort, and warm hospitality. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ooty and looking for a unique and memorable stay!
