It was a family trip in December 2016. The property is a palace and all the chandeliers and antique/show pieces which they have used are awesome. The management is least bothered about the property it seems. we had to have free breakfast and Food is terrible !!! If you are staying don't even think about having food from here.Since our...

Ferrnhills Royale Palace - The summer Palace of the Mysore Maharajas was built in 1844 by Capt. F. Cotton. Palace is located over 50 acres of estate with sprawling lawns, beautiful gardens, dense forests with rich and stunning views, overlooking lush green valleys and tea gardens.

This property is located at arguably the best location in ooty, no traffic, no hustle bustle, great view of nature. Property is restored very well however, somehow the upkeep is not as great as you expect at such a heritage property. Still Is a recommended place i you want to spend your holidays in peace at Ooty.

It's a heritage experience of Ooty that is ideal for lovers of history. Once the summer palace of the royal family of Mysore, it now stands as a living memory of a royal life. While the rest of Ooty is getting more commercial with time, this is one of the few remaining vestiges of the charm of old Ooty. Worth...

The hotel can be reached by ooty or through lovedale. Through Lovedale the drive is good however the road from Ooty is preferred. The property is located on huge area with good view and a lot of parking space. The palace belonged to erstwhile Maharaja's of Mysore. The hotel is little away from Ooty and an ideal place for couples...

We had a tasty lunch here in the very impressive dining room which is richly decorated with carved plaster wall plaques. We didn't view the rooms, but the public areas were looking a little shabby in places. This is such a lovely hotel it should be renovated to bring it back to the splendour of its earlier days.

Staying here is like staying in a museum, the photographs and items on display are perhaps its most attractive feature. The gardens and building have the air of being maintained by government rather than business and require considerable attention to bring them to the class that one expects of a palace. I can only compare it with St Andrews Hotel...

This is a beautiful palace of the former Maharaja. This is also a famous location for movie makers. Sits on the cool hill top with mesmerizing scenery. The hotel maintains the rustic furniture as well as classic tea sets.

This is a beautiful hotel in the photos but is not being properly maintained and managed. The rooms are spacious but cold, the electric went out over 10 times in the course of 1 evening. The hot water is turned on only at specific times. The "Bar" wasn't even manned and only beer and wine available (even though the liquor...

Fernhills Palace is the summer palace of the Mysore Maharajas. It was built in 1844 by Capt. F. Cotton. It changed several hands as the time went by till mid-1860s, when it was temporarily named Moonesami and served as one of the Ooty's earliest club hotels. The year was 1873 when Ferrnhills Palace found a new royal owner. His Highness Chamarajendra Wadiyar X is the first Indian royal to buy an English holding in Ooty. Since then Ferrnhills Royale Palace has been with the Wadiyar dynasty and today it continues in the capable hands of His Highness Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.
