The Madurai Residency is located in the busy street of Madurai city about 2km from the railway station. Major advantage of staying in this place is that the major attraction of this city , the Madurai Meenakshy Temple is walking distance away from here, as one can reach the southern gopuram ( tower ) to make an entry to the temple. Staff at reception is cordial and accept cards and cash as the case may be. Parking area is aproblem but the security staff is quite helpful in this regard. Rooms are well furnished and maintained with all facilities including wifi etc. bath com toilet is slightly smaller but comfortable. Breakfast if included in the room is complementary and is mainly south indian cuisine with cornflakes and bread butter etc.The restaurant is in the top floor and in…
We stayed in the Madurai Residency for two nights on arrival to India. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a big hotel situated in the centre of the city. It is walking distance to the Meenakshi Temple which is a wonderful temple. The room was average but clean and functional. We opted for the rate which included dinner. We did not hold out much hope but the dinner was EXCELLENT. The restaurant is on the rooftop with a great view of the city and another big plus is that they serve beer. We were subsequently to find out that very few places served beer so this is a real treat. Reception staff very efficient. They could organise all sorts of tours and taxis for you if you want but we like to organise things ourself. All in all a good choice for a couple of…
I was in Madurai from 5th to 9th March for a local entertainment program. Booked Madurai Residency Hotel and was happy with my right choice. Located at the busy city center with human and traffic flow. I was welcomed by Mr, Syed and Mr.Vijay at the Front Desk.Superb service by both who checked me in within minutes. The hotel is clean and well maintain. Staff are very responsive within minutes...The maintenance and housekeeping and the room service. The view is very good from the rooftop dining area with the busy street below and the famous Meenakshi Temple Gopuram.(PyramidalTower) On my 1st day I went for dinner and had our first Madurai briyani at a restaurant. Just dusty everywhere as the city is going tru a transformation with works on roadside and footpath. It will be a…
The Residency is well-located in the temple area of Madurai, good for shopping and walking. Staff are always helpful and attentive. Breakfast buffet is good, roof-top restaurant at night should be experienced and the food has always been very good. Internet was not working on my last visit, which was problematic. Hotel management could have been more helpful in finding a way for us to contact family to let them know we had arrived. Always enjoy staying at the Residency.
My stay for 3 days at Madurai Residency was amazing. Very organized staff, always ready to serve and guide you. Fantastic rooftop restaurant. Would love to visit the same place again. Easily accessible to railway station too.
Stayed on 21st February 2020 with family, during our visit to Madurai. Hotel is centrally located, very near to Meenakshi temple. Rooms are in good conditions. Check -in Check out is smooth. They have a 24 hrs check out policy which is good, if travel arrangement times are odd. Front desk is very helpful in providing local information. They have a roof top restaurant, where dinner is served. Feed is good quality, only negative point in the restaurant is attitude of the waiters. Lot of foreign nationals were staying in the hotel, so waiters were more busy in serving them. As far as Breakfast is concerned it has good spread and is tasty. Overall a good stay.
We were staying as a family with our 3 adult children. The staff were helpful and kind. The roof top restaurant was very pleasant. The only thing we thought could have been better was the wifi which was not reliable. But we would be happy to stay in the Madurai Residency again.
I stayed for just one night, from 29th Feb to 1st March 2020. Check-in was smooth, I booked through agoda.com and booked a comfort room. My room 406 was very nice and provided all the amenities. Fortunately, room was on the same floor where Breakfast n lunch is served and had to climb very few stairs for roof top dinner. Only area of improvement can be breakfast though its manageable. Just to add couple of more options as I have seen only South-Indian options during my stay. The cost of food items are also not expensive and I had my dinner at roof top restaurant. The roads were noisy but I enjoyed the noise too. But the noise doesn't disturb the sleep. The hotel is walk-able distance to market leading to Temple. Also I used the services of Travel Desk for Drop to Airport. It was…
We stated one night in this hotel. Right in the market area and near train station. Rooms are good and clean. Staff is helpful. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner on their terrace restaurant, it was okay not so good. Minakshi temple is walkable from hotel or you can take auto rickshaws. Staff will help for same. You can visit to nearby silk saree shops for shopping too (we went to Chennai Silk Sarees, its huge shop cum mall). Suggested for 1-2 night stay.
Stayed 3 nights in a standard room (305). Rather cramped & shabby with excessive traffic noise. Poor check-in - NO information proffered. I had to call reception to find out about wifi (unsecured), breakfast. Hot water unreliable. But the housekeeping staff were on the ball - anything asked for arrived in minutes. Rooftop restaurant on 7th floor. Bar in the basement. Indian & western breakfast buffet. A short walk to the Meenakshi Amman Temple. Travel desk at reception can organise your travel needs - we ordered a taxi to take my husband and I to Kollam in Kerala as we didn't like the train/bus schedules. In hindsight, there is a travel office opposite the hotel which may have offered the same service at a better price! OK for the location.
