Firstly, let me talk about the location, it’s located closer to the railway station and 20mins away by walk to Meenakshi Amman Temple. Also, it’s in a lane which is one way so the place is very congested.
Now about the hotel. The hotel calls themselves as a premium hotel, however as per my stay it’s just an average hotel. I booked their standard room and they did not an electric kettle. Even a basic hotel these days has an electric kettle.
No water bottles are kept. We have to literally remind them that they haven’t provided water bottles. Ideally everyday the hotel is suppose to provide water. We were a family of 3 and only two half litre bottles were kept for us.
Because 3 members stayed in a room they had to provide us an extra bed. The person who
Answered the called at housekeeping wasn’t not helpful at all. He refused the bed by stating it will be provided only in the night. However, on my request at the reception they were able to provide us the bed. The staff at the reception is very polite and helpful.
The standard rooms are really small, it only fits a bed, there is not much place to even walk around.
What the staff needs to work on:
1) check everything before the guest checks in.
2) provide toiletries per the number of guest
3) provide water bottles proactively (here we have remind them daily, also out of 3 days stay water was provided only for 2 days)
4) have extra bed added in the room (do not wait for the guest to request, imagine after a road travel of 4 hours when you request the bed & staff informs they will only provide in the night)
I prefer staying where I don’t have to follow up.
However, if one is okay with water bottles not being provided, no electric kettles, no timely extra beds provided then they can go for this hotel.
Next time I wouldn’t prefer staying with them, rather find better options with better service.

Visited this hotel with my family in February , genuinely hotel structure needs to upgrade and the hotel staff don't know how to talk . Please don't expect any chance of good gesture from manager or even any staff specially non humble towards North Indian peoples . Must ask hotel as they are on repairing so it will be inconvinence to sleep . Located in the busy street of Madurai market , good for eating outside as the hotel is very rigid for their services of providing anything extra like spoon , plates or glasses . Please don't visit Madurai residency if you want blessings of Meenakshi temple as you get irritated by the hotel and badly insulted too .

The Residency is well-located in the temple area of Madurai, good for shopping and walking. Staff are always helpful and attentive. Breakfast buffet is good, roof-top restaurant at night should be experienced and the food has always been very good. Internet was not working on my last visit, which was problematic. Hotel management could have been more helpful in finding a way for us to contact family to let them know we had arrived. Always enjoy staying at the Residency.

The hotel was booked in flexible hours and even we informed them in evening that we are on the way and will reach around 9 pm they didnt make the room ready, They asked to wait for 30+ minutes at 10 PM to clean the room. We just stayed for 14 hours in the property and paid for 24 hours,
Ideally yatra.com or hotel should refund some amount as they given our room to other customers and harassed us by waiting for long time.
Food is v expensive for example INR 60 for two chapatis. They didnt given us room on time and then it was quite late so we had no option but to have dinner their itself.The hotel is good for business people as near to Railway station and not good for family as the staff didnt given respect to family and made us awaited even we informed them to keep room ready.

I stayed for just one night, from 29th Feb to 1st March 2020. Check-in was smooth, I booked through agoda.com and booked a comfort room. My room 406 was very nice and provided all the amenities. Fortunately, room was on the same floor where Breakfast n lunch is served and had to climb very few stairs for roof top dinner. Only area of improvement can be breakfast though its manageable. Just to add couple of more options as I have seen only South-Indian options during my stay.
The cost of food items are also not expensive and I had my dinner at roof top restaurant. The roads were noisy but I enjoyed the noise too. But the noise doesn't disturb the sleep.
The hotel is walk-able distance to market leading to Temple. Also I used the services of Travel Desk for Drop to Airport. It was very much on time.
No issues at all with the hotel and highly recommended.

We went to Madurai during our trip to Periyar/Thekkady/Madurai/Rameswaram from Bangalore and stayed here in Madurai Residency for one day...On entering the hotel, we received a warm welcome from the team. After check-in, we found the hotel room was very spacious and equipped with all required items... Location of the Hotel is a plus point - it's very near to the Temple (walkable distance) and also to the Railway station. Restaurant is another good part. We had very tasty and quality food there. Overall we are very happy with our stay here in this Hotel..In future whenever we'll the city, our 1st preference will be Madurai Residency

The Madurai Residency is located in the busy street of Madurai city about 2km from the railway station. Major advantage of staying in this place is that the major attraction of this city , the Madurai Meenakshy Temple is walking distance away from here, as one can reach the southern gopuram ( tower ) to make an entry to the temple.
Staff at reception is cordial and accept cards and cash as the case may be. Parking area is aproblem but the security staff is quite helpful in this regard.
Rooms are well furnished and maintained with all facilities including wifi etc. bath com toilet is slightly smaller but comfortable.
Breakfast if included in the room is complementary and is mainly south indian cuisine with cornflakes and bread butter etc.The restaurant is in the top floor and in addition there is one more roof top restaurant which commands a wonderful view of the temple city.

We confirmed our booking through online and reached the hotel @ 11.15pm and the dinner was closed..The front office staff called the soue chef and collected the menu and arranged the dinner @ room itself.The food quality and taste was awesome..It was fantastic...generally all the hotels will follow 12noon CHKOUT time for online booking guest...but when I 'request to extend our CHKOUT till afternoon 3.o clock with frontoffice manager.. never refused.He added " with pleasure.you can CHKOUT @ 3.00PM." HK Staffs and Restaurant staffs are also trainned well.I never expected such a five star hospitality from a business class hotel...Thank you once again for the great hospitality.

We stayed in Madurai Residency during our Meenakshi Amman temple visit. The hotel is walk able from railway station (approx 300m), main market (approx 500m) and most importantly from Meenakshi Temple (approx 1km). Clean and comfortable rooms, Clean toilets and very good room service are few noticeable positives. They have two restaurants and the food of the rooftop restaurant was excellent and yummy, everyone of our group liked the food especially the non-veg continental dishes. Overall it is a very good option for family as well as business travelers. We would highly recommend this hotel to people who are visiting Madurai.

Pls check if there are floors with no smoke smell, even if u opt for no smoking rooms. Rooms were extremly smaller than shown & no value for money. Rooms where extremly smaller & not clean. Not value for money.

Yes its true. They have 24 hours check in facility. I reached there at 11.00 p.m . They have parking facility but not ample. 4 to 5 parks can be easily parked.
Can you rent a car from Madurai? Any reference you might have?

Am not sure about this. The front office should be able to help you with this.
