Visited during April 2015. Resort Location is good, situated on a small hillock. But lack activities. we were a family of 4 , tariff included breakfast, but breakfast had no choise, since we were the only one in resort. I think this resort will be ideal for reunions and get to gethers. Restaurant menu choice is very less and no chance of buffet spread unless you order as group. you have to order your dinner well before 6pm so that it will be ready by 8pm Big swimming pool . Rooms are good,neat and maintained but no intercom facilities, you need to call the room service/reception thru your mobile .Less occupancy makes it second choice, Please go as group of 10 or above

Regarding intercom: There was a big thunder and lightning on previous day and some of the intercoms were down. We had given our mobile numbers for any service call. We arrange buffet system for breakfast when more guests are in the resort and we do unlimited breakfast service on the table when occupancy is lower. We are on the process of restructuring and revising the menu inwhich more of ethnic food items will be incorporated. Hi, I had a horrible experience last week with this resort. I have visited many resorts across the country, but haven't seen such a pathetic. Worst maintenance at the entrance. Worst hospitality by the people there. No proper guidance. Swimming pool is under maintainance (which they are not revealing to the guest), no Mobile signals in and around of the Resort. My humble request is please do not go by the internet photos of this resort. No facilities available. I won't suggest this place to anyone in future.

We visited this place to book for our reunion. They quoted Rs.3800 for a double room with breakfast. The room reminded me of a budget hotel (Tune hotels, Malaysia), it was so cramped and it is not worth for it's price. Food and beverages were below average, cost was too high (almost equal to Taj Gateway hotels). Entertainment cost was also very high, they gave a quote of Rs.100000 for 3-4 hours of entertainment for a group of 70 people.
Great location and view but nothing more than that.....Great for an evening and not for a night!
Carlton of Kodaikanal offered a better package and price, so we ended up there!

I am an avid traveller always looking for local cultural immersion and Kadambavanam resort was pleasant surprise.
Location: This is about 40 mts from madurai Meenakshi amman temple. Located in a very beautiful scenic setting. You can see mango groves and coconut groves stretching through the valleys as far as you can see.
Cultural immersion : The owners are awesome and their passion for tamil culture was obvious as they immersed us in the Tamil experience with cultural programs. I am tamil living in New york and it was the perfect fix for the tamil experience that I was missing so much. They even have temple inside a resort with beautiful landscaping that is very rare to see in India.There is a big cultural centre where the events take place.
Food : We are strictly vegetarians. There was wide selection of tamil dishes and we were happy to find out that the dishes were very authentic. We actually took the time to appreciate the chef.
Accommodation : The rooms were excellent and beyond expectations. The look like traditional Indian homes from outside but has all the western standard amenities inside. I actually went to India after traveling for a month in Europe ( Paris , Berlin etc ) and had stayed in very good hotels and resorts. The rooms are comparable to any of the best resorts in Europe. I loved the shower especially..:) it is a open roof shower that gives the feeling of outdoors. I thought that was a very nice touch as you can see the sky while you shower. The beds were super comfortable and they had HBO ..! which was sweet as I can watch my fav Game of thrones. Most importantly everything was super clean. In India you can go to very good resorts and still have bad experience because of bad maintenance and poor customer service. Luckily we had a great experience here as it was clean and room service was very attentive and friendly.
Nearby activities - Highly recommend talking to the managers / owners as they have many activities available nearby.
Swimming pool - There is an amazing swimming pool that was almost finished. It is a pool that is almost like an infinity pool with an amazing view. Can't wait to see the completed version when I go there next time.
Gardens and Landscape - I loved the attention to details in the various gardens and landscaped through out the resort. It does make you feel very good and relaxed. I love to do pranayama and yoga. The gardens with great view provided the best setting for me to do relaxing pranayama outdoors with clean air.
Sun rise and Sun set - There is a rocky hill right in the resort that you can hike. You can reach the top in 15 - 20 mts. Once there you have breath taking views. Highly recommend the sun rise and sun set from this area.

Location: Its a good 30min drive from the madurai main city. But the drive is worth it. through the villages and paddy fields , you reach kadambavanam. View: They have a pool and the restaurant, both overlooking acres of agricultural land below the hills. The view is fantastic, the lawns are well maintained. The view of sunset is simply breathtaking. Restaurant: The ambience is quite decent. the view you get is the highlight. the service is okay, could be a lot better and professional. Waiters can be trained to not stare down at customers. the food is good. if you are there for the evening, don't miss the thipili sukku coffee.

hi i used to work as a professor of architecture at srm university...and had visited kadambavanam with my students...Amazing ambience, a good place to rejuvenate yourself, i stayed there for 5 days...excellent food...d hospitality of the staff is very good. The resort is surrounded by a sea of greenery on all sides and the property is set amidst a mangrove..the students had a wonderful time and enjoyed the cultural show to the core..!! It was also an ideal place for architecture students as the property is designed and owned by an architect by d name of M.Ganapathy who is considered as one of d leading architects of Madurai city..!!

I don't think they have a bar. I have visited twice but don't recall seeing a bar.
Getting beer from outside shouldn't be a problem though. There are plenty of options available.
