A stone's throw away from Bedford circle and Sim's Park in upper coonoor, the YWCA offers the virtues of a no-frills accommodation and expectation is really the key in deciding whether to stay here or at the more pricier comfortable home stays the town has to offer.

The bungalow has about 3 rooms downstairs and 6 upstairs. There is a small dining area and living room with television adjoining a covered verandah that overlooks a small garden. Again the garden could've been better maintained, but at 900 rupees for a double, without meals, there is only that much to expect. The rooms are all clean with a dresser cum mirror, 1-2 sofa chairs, a table and television. Some rooms may have a small cupboard and/or hooks to hang clothes. Barring one large room upstairs which is entirely separate, the rest have either a door that connects to the other room or in the case of 3 rooms upstairs, a non solid wall..perhaps of wood. May have been a dormitory at some point that was partioned to make 3 rooms. The point is that walls are thin and not the best for those who want complete solitude or privacy. We changed our rooms twice. In the first instance, the room tube light didn't work and the second light was too dull. In the second instance, we could get cigarette smoke from the room next door. We moved downstairs, only to be woken at night by the animated sounds of boys partying over the long holiday weekend.

Meals need to be ordered in advance, except for breakfast. The dosas, idlis and omlettes were all good. We didn't have any other meal here although I have eaten here on previous occasions and it's tasty. The service is friendly and the atmosphere fairly homely.

If you're looking for a quiet but not-so-private and clean budget accommodation, this is a good bet.

YWCA Coonoor offers all the ingredients for a comfortable and memorable stay. The property has recently been renovated and it now sports a chic and classy look.

Budget friendly accommodation, clean environs, scenic views, tranquil setting, warm and welcoming service, are the hallmarks of this beautiful property.

Seekers of luxury will feel out of place here, as it is a no frills space. Guests can wake up to the noise of chirping birds and spot them in surrounding trees and sit in the balcony relishing the mist clad serenity of the area. The view of coonoor town late evening is mesmerising.

Rooms are neat, spacious and offers all the basics. Winters tend to be freezing cold and the staff will be more than happy to help you with extra blankets and warm water.

Food is an area that needs improvement. It is homely and made fresh. It might be wise to only stay here, and go on a culinary trail of coonoor, exploring local bakeries and reputed eateries.

We had a delightful two nights stay. Good Luck to the entire team.

The room was clean and there was hot water which was good for the cold mornings! Breakfast was average. It's a great location up in the hills and only a 10 min (very steep) walk up to the guest house. The staff were very helpful with local knowledge and helped me to find my way round the town - thanks for a good stay

A charming building is all we can say. We stayed one night and left. The manager at the reception desk was one of the most unfriendly characters we have met during our trip in South India. On top of that: he refuses mixed couples. Shame on you Y.W.C.A!!!

The Wyoming YWCA- Coonoor is situated on a hill among the many hills Coonoor boasts of in the Nilgiris, with its Tea garden overlooking a deep valley with thick forests. I had made online booking a week before; we were received by the Manager Mr. Vinu, who after the formalities of registration gave the room key. WYOMING building is almost 160 years old. For a building as old this, she is beautiful both outside and inside and very well maintained, with no sign of stress or fatigue to the walls, ceilings and the pillars!!! As the adage goes “First impression is the best impression” this fits very well for WYOMING and she didn’t disappoint us, we were very satisfied as we checked into the room.

it wasn't too easy to find but that in itself was an adventure. The nearby hospital is the best landmark. This was my second visit which speaks for itself. The building is a bit 'worn at the edges', staff are attentive, rooms might benefit from a bit of sprucing up but I loved it. Oozing character, plenty of space, there is a place to eat and drink a short walk away and it benefits from being out of town. I Preferred Coonoor over Ooty. The market, tea factory in and around the town were great, never quite found the fort.

It is located at the uphill close to Coonoor bus station.
Walkable distance but during night better to get a cab or rickshaw if you are not on own vehicle. They have decent parking space.

It is Guest House, don't expect too much.
It is a well maintained very old bungalow with different sizes of rooms. We had booked one room for three person but they provided one single room and double room. Rooms are clean. Good for a night stay.

The staff is friendly. They have restaurant for basic foods. But need to pre-order. They cook homely food.

The ywca is in a great location away from the hustle and bustle of Coonoor town..the building is really nice and the rooms comfy and clean. A few things that let it down for me.. it was just so cold and there was no heating even in the common room which meant in the evenings sitting in bed under blankets.. the service was also mediocre.. we were hoping for a little advice on what to do around town but were told to look at the map. All in all i think it is a good place to stay if you aren't too turned off by the cold!!
