The famous 154 year old house from "Kapoor and sons" is aesthetically pleasing and provides breathtaking views. The classic British interior also adds to its IG appeal. But the service at this place is not at par with the price. For eg: for my 1 day stay, washroom ran out of water twice, there was no wifi in the room. The intercom didn't work and there was power cut from 3am till 8am. You can visit the restaurant as it serves decent good and click some photos of the property but spending the night here will not be worth the money.

Best, Best, Best place to stay in Coonor. I will always recommend for this place to all my family & friends. View from every corner of Villa is so beautiful that u will never want to leave this place. Very old british building. Food is awesome, Staff are very humble and polite. Especially Michael, Joseph, Ibrahim & Nancy. BUT.... Furniture need maintenance and repair.. Door and bed are creaking and giving a spooky feel in quite nights . Room has a smell of old furniture. It has very dim light and in night it was almost dark in the room. Atleast they should put one bright white light .

We happened to go to 180 Mclver for lunch. It was a terrible experience. The staff was racist to the core. Seeing that we were not knowing Tamil and had ordered vegetarian food, the waiter refused to lay the table mats whereas other tables there had. On asking to lay the same, his curt reply was that the stocks are over. Just unbelievable. Never been to a place where we felt so unwelcome. After arguing he brought and laid the mats. The food was average. The dessert - Pannacotta - horrible. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Maciver is a beautiful villa in Connoor overlooking the valley with 180 degree view with the most exotic flaura and fauna, it is the ideal stay for travellers who enjoy colonial style living. It has six rooms with old look and Blackwood room is the best. It is most spacious and has the most spectacular view. The lawns are very well kept and the view from the property is breathtakingly beautiful. Its an ideal place to get away from the hustle bustle of city life. The staff are very hospitable. Nancy, Alfred and Nawab add warmth with their personal care. Nawab is outstanding with his service catering to all the requirements of the guests. The food is exceptionally good. Apple pie needs special mention. On the whole experience of Maciver is wonderful.

Not sure whether I can review this place as I only visited and didn't eat anything. We heard about this (probably due a Bollywood movie) and decided to try out for lunch. We reached around 12.30 PM and entire place was empty and there was only one staff. He looked totally disinterested. With great difficulty we got hold of a menu and when we were about to order, he said it will take more than 45 minutes (we were the only ones in the restaurant). If it was some genuine reason, he could have told us properly. Somehow we lost all enthusiasm and left. Yes. we did have a fabulous lunch at Gateway, probably for much lesser cost. A brilliant property getting wasted by bad management.

Property is awesome. We have been asked to give our mobile number and waite. After a long 1 hour we saw a lot of others who came later having food. Politely asked how long more we have to wait. Answer was might be another 30 minutes. Walked away without having food. But thanks to the owners. We enjoyed every bit of being there.

Table Setting. Not very clean. Leftover food on the mats. Food. Chicken Lasagna - flowing with oil. Veg Pizza - good. Service. Not good. Waiters do not keep an eye on the tables and don't have much idea of service. Grounds and Lawn Furniture. Haphazard. Ladies Toilet. Filthy. Property. Very good, but poorly maintained and organised.

The place was dirty and badly kept. Bathrooms were like a chawl with broken Fittings and dirty. The staff are untrained and leave dirty plates and cutlery behind. Such a beautiful location but with poor upkeep. The lasagne ordered was floating with oil. My veg pizza was very good. Please improve upkeep and services. The garden was unkept and overgrown.

Who takes 2 hours and 10 minutes to make lunch and still not be done cooking??? Mc Ivers...they do!!! We placed our order at 2.09 and were told 50 mins wait as they were expecting a large crowd. We said OK and sat. We walked out at 4.13 because they still didn’t have our lunch ready. It took them 1 hour to give us French fries because after 50 mins we requested them to. It took another 30 mins to give us 1 starter. After 2 hours and repeated requests from us our lunch still wasn’t ready. So either you tell us exactly how long you will take or you don’t seat us if you’re going to be busy. To top this the manager at the restaurant has such an unpleasant behaviour. He didn’t care about how long we had waited and when I was trying to talk to Him he just turned his back and walked away. This was the point where it became disrespectful. Come to the city and this restaurant won’t survive a day!! I know this review may probably not make any difference to the owners or the staff at Mc ivers. That’s not my idea. But for those of you planning on going there think twice!!

Inspite of booking one day ahead , table for 6 of us for lunch on the 15th Nov 2020 , the person incharge and the owners inspite of booking our table , refused to give us a Table and were extremely Rude and Arrogant. Never step into that horrible place where the management and staff lack courtesy and manners . They should close and learn to handle customers from roadside vendors , who have far more maturity and manners
