With probably one of the best views in Udaipur, the Wonder view hotel's rooftop is clearly a diamond in the rough. Much has to be done to the Hotel though. Overall in bad conditions, everything looks quite old and not taken care of. The price of food and beverages is expensive and poorly competitive looking to other main rooftops on the surroundings. In my opinion, it's worth to go only for nice sunset pictures and that is all.

1. Its a normal family who managed the property so its quiet like home not hotel.
2 its budget hotel
3. No service
4. Do not eat food here. We only use to have tea in morning.
5. View is real good from the balcony.
6. The best part is the location. Its not in city palace area so very quiet. Plus it has ambrai & Upre restaurant just beside it, so u wont have any issues for food.
7. Quiet clean.

I had two days stay at this place & had the worst experience. The son of owner is very rude/ unprofessional. They are having only one service boy. Rooms are not clean, they didn’t even provide freah towels & bedsheets. They are getting high charges. Please avoid booking here.

We travelled by car from Vadodara (Gujarat) to Udaipur. Guided by Google Maps through the very narrow lanes of the Lake City, we finally landed at the Hotel. It is close to Hotel Leela Palace in the corner with optimum parking (open space) for guests. However during peak season, parking can be an issue, please confirm with Hotel staff in case you plan to drive in. The Hotel has 3floors, with Lake facing/ non-Lake facing rooms. Lake facing rooms have exotic view of the Lake, Lake Palace and City Palace. However non-lake facing rooms (201 where we stayed) are a good budget option as you can view the lake from the common balcony where there are nice tables to enjoy lunch/ dinner. However non-lake facing rooms are a bit damp, no sunlight and cold in winters.

The Hotel staff is extremely cooperative and polite; cannot understand why people post such staunch reviews. The Hotel restaurant (rooftop) has breathtaking view of the lake, but plastic chairs shall spoil your photographs. The restaurant service is snail paced (the kitchen is on the ground floor and restaurant is on 4th floor), very costly but tasty.

However for a budget couple, this is a good option. The area is dominated by Foreign tourists, hence Indian food is very costly. If you need Indian food, the Hotel BAWARCHI is a good option (around Delhi Gate- Hatipole).

We had a great time at Udaipur-Nathdwara-Chittorgarh; very beautiful and romantic. Covering Udaipur on foot is indeed an experience in winters.

Go and have a blast guys!!!

New construction currently underway between this hotel and the lake means that the previously unspoiled view no longer exists. The elderly woman owner of this hotel has no interest in her guests whatsoever. Her woolen-jacket-suited snarling Pomeranian dog wakes the entire hotel at dawn, snapping at the ankles of visitors to the lobby, and yapping without control. If you are looking forward to a leisurely sleep-in, forget it! Internet is begrudgingly made available in the same office that night shift workers are still asleep in in the morning. Skype conversation is impossible unless you don't mind waking them. Breakfasts were OK - served by a very pleasant young man who made the stay in the hotel just bearable due to his friendliness and attention to your needs. Bathroom mirror had not been cleaned, for, I would estimate, 20 years or so. The power in your room would be switched off by hotel staff using an external master switch. This meant that if you had left your camera or computer charging while you were out for a few hours - forget it - your battery is still dead! Rooms not cleaned or attended to without needing to harangue the old woman at the front desk, who was generally upset at her day being interrupted by pesky guests. I would stay in this hotel again if I could find sufficiently robust ear plugs, and had an urge to be treated like an unwanted nuisance. Not recommended.

Udaipur was a beautiful city, but the visit was spoilt by our stay in this hotel. The hotel has beautiful views, but you have to be ready to compromise on a so many different levels.
The hotel room was not prepared, and remained dirty throughout our stay. In spite of repeated requests and repeated promises, the hotel could not provide us with clean towels, bathroom, a decent TV reception, and clean sheets.
To top it, they tried to overcharge us at check-out. We had to prove our booking on email. The matter was corrected but no apology was offered.

(I wrote a review of a similarly named "wonder view palace" -- disregard, this is the "wonder view i meant")

Before heading to Udaipur, I called around and compared hotel prices - really wanting to find a good deal on a lake view room. The Wonder View Hotel - 2000Rs per night with balcony and the desired lake view -- sounded like a good deal. Right ? Wrong.

Upon arrival we noticed the hotel was in a very sad state - almost like an abandoned building you'd expect to see in a war movie. We said we wanted to see the room before we decided -- We went upstairs and found a rather charming, albeit spartan, double room. The view, however, was absolutely laughable. Older reviews (ca. 2006) may not reflect this but there is now a half completed cement foundation right in front of each room -- save the top I believe.

We were appalled and felt cheated. Noticing the hotel's lack of guests and realizing that the manager was probably desperate for our business we politely declined the 2000 Rs double room with the awful view. I even offered to give the manager some money for his trouble - as we had booked over the phone (but not paid!).

The manager became immediately aggressive and yelled "you will NEVER leave this hotel". He got uncomfortably close to my face and starting yelling empty threats - we literally ran back to the room to grab our gear but were chased by the manager and several cronies who pounded on the door once we were inside.

After a brief hold-up in the room, we exited and made our way for the exit. Another undesirable encounter with the hotel staff ensued -- one of them even grabbed my arm! and again (desperately) told me "i am not able to leave". I assured them this was not the case, threw 100 Rs on the reception desk and we hightailed it to the neighbouring AMET HAVELI (which is a lovely place with much fairer prices).

I would never, under any circumstance, be able to recommend this hotel based on my awful experience.

As stated in other reviews, the place has potential but the chance of improvement is highly unlikely given the staff's sleazy worth ethic.
