Devra in Udaipur is a five-acre estate, home to the charming couple Maj Durga Das & Jyoti Jasol who have graciously opened their doors to travelers from all around the world to come and share their experiences in their little paradise. Devra literally translates to 'where God resides' - epitomized by tranquility, the serenity of the setting and an 800-year-old temple still standing at the sight of Devra. In the local language "Devra" means a Tribal Temple. The house set amidst lush green fields perched atop a small hillock is a perfect retreat for travelers looking to immerse themselves into an experience of heritage and nature. A mere ten minutes’ drive from the city center, it is neither too far from tourist attractions, nor is too close to the city’s bustle. Devra is a country homestay with a warm, tranquil and rustic feel. The house has been built with passion, care and love incorporating a local stone facade with an open-to-sky courtyard, panoramic view of the majestic skyline & the City Palace and has an infinity pool overlooking the magnificent Sajjan Garh fort. It is an ideal getaway for couples, families, small groups and all-girls stays, all of who would adore the aura and ambiance of being at home while away from home.

At the very outset I need to apologies for this inordinate delay in writing this review.I visited Devra ,quite some time back but the memory of Devra are still fresh,as yesterday. Devra is a beautiful place, surrounded by wilderness and fresh air and personal warmth of the owners, who take personal care .
We also stayed at a well known five star at Udaipur ,but the personal warmth of both Sir Durga Das and Mam Jyoti was much beyond, than the five star or any other place visited by me.Me and my wife were simply floored by the hospitality at Devra
The room were well appointed, the interiors, the service, the personal warmth ,and the overall experience was simply amazing, this cannot be shared in words it has to be experienced !!
The Mandir in the property, the positive vibrations ,and the Chula ki roti ,the tastly and mouth watering Rajasthani food , The memories,we experienced ,are memories of a lifetime.
I strongly, recommend this place,to all especially for someone who is not just looking for just a BNB ,but for an experience, and to carry back happy memories.
Thank You ,would love to visit again.
highly recommended

What a wonderful treat to see all the sights of Udaipur then return ‘home’ after a short drive away from all the hustle & bustle. Devra has fabulous hosts who treat you as family, equally interesting guests & definitely the best home-cooking & meals of the our trip. We would love to come back sometime. It was such a pleasure & highlight of our visit to Rajasthan.

This was my second time in Devra and I must day if I ever visit Udaipur this is going to be my stay. It is not a hotel but a home away from home. With a 360 degree picturesque view its a must go place. Jyoti is an amazing host, the food is super awesome, the staffs are so cordial. It was properly sanitised. This place has got perfect privacy, be it the swimming pool or your room, you will not feel that you are outside your comfort zone.

We went to this home stay cum boutique place in January 2022 !

The enterance, dinning area , their main house were very well maintained and upto mark !
The rooms where we stayed were huge and decent
And not that newly done
Needed maintenance- bathrooms were very well maintained but the rooms needed an upgrade for the price that we paid

The food was delicious and freshly made by their in-house cooks !
Very delicious and tasty !

Devra is a most beautiful property lovingly developed over many years by our hosts Jyoti and Major Durga Das, who introduced themselves to us on arrival and made sure we felt welcome throughout our 3 day stay. We loved the tranquility of the setting with its many outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy the views and our room was large and comfortable with a very homely feel.

As sisters we had planned our trip to Rajasthan around the dates of Diwali as we hoped to experience something of how Indian families celebrate Diwali at home. So we specifically chose to stay in a homestay for this festival rather than the heritage hotels booked for the rest of our holiday . We mentioned this to Jyoti when we arrived and were so very grateful to be invited to join their private family celebration on the evening. We were made so welcome by Jyoti and the Major and their lovely family, who included us in an experience we will treasure forever. I hope to return to beautiful Udaipur with my husband and will certainly stay at Devra again.

We, based on the reviews booked the Villa for a day out. We were 4 couples, all from Udaipur. The property undoubtably was good. Safety measure were taken for the Covid. Pool was not very clean. There were old utensils inside it. Too much chlorine. We couldn't spend much time in there. We ordered snacks which were fine. We ordered roasted chicken, but we got boiled chicken cooked in some spices which turned out to be good luckily but was not something we ordered. Service was not very good. Everything was fine till we had our dinner. There was only one dish in non-veg which was so bad that we had to switch to veg to fill our bellies. Chicken curry was the dish which the chef himself recommended, was pathetically bad. So basically, if you just want to go and enjoy the property and the view, this place won't disappoint you, but if you are someone for whom food is a priority, you should explore some other options as in Udaipur, properties would hardly disappoint you. There can be endless options.

Dear guest. Thank you for your review. You enjoyed your pool for the whole day with continuous supply of snacks. Why didn't you complain while at the property? We met you all 3/4 times and you were very happy. A little does of extra chlorine is for the safety in virus days. No question of any utensils in the pool. It was a crystal clear water. One of the pool lights pulled out its socket is your own doing. I you had pointed out to us about any such unwanted things in the pool.

The most special thing about Devra for me has to be the service at the shrine that I got to witness. This is a place that can really help you get in touch with your creative self. There are ample nooks and corners where you can read, paint or just reflect. Everywhere you go in devra there is fresh energy and inspiration. Ofcourse, the energy of this space is made and upheld by the wonderful people who live there. There is no better way to connect with a place than through its people and the family whose home this is leave no stone unturned in making you feel welcome. They make great conversation and have so much to share about their culture. Can’t wait to be back :)

This is in a really quiet area yet convenient for travel in to Udaipur. The hosts are welcoming and we had a big room which was very comfortable. We were welcome to pop in to the house and to have breakfast sitting on the back porch, which is a lovely area. The breakfast was very good, offering eggs, cereals, fruit, toast and jams. Umesh, who looked after us over our three night trip, was excellent, always ready with a smile. He prepared the breakfasts for us and ensured we were home safely in the evenings. We did eat there on the first night but felt we’d get different food, and a choice, if we ate out on our other nights. The restaurants we went to were very good. I’d ideally like to give 4.5, the only slight ‘recommendation’ would be to offer guests a free tea/coffee service (although there are facilities in your room) but having said that it didn’t cost much. We’ve had other homestay experiences though where we’ve been offered free tea/coffee/juice and cake hence the 4.5 rating!! We’d recommend the homestay without hesitation. The staff are all excellent.

We were traveling Udaipur as a group of 13 people and booked whole property! Some of us stayed there before and they strongly recommended this place so we all were excited. Trust us, this place was one of the best property we stayed in our life. Beautiful location, food, people, atmosphere, cleanliness, hospitality, swimming pool, no interference, what a lovely place! It was just wonderful. Since we were there for some work, schedule was tight and all the staff was supportive to arrange tea/coffee, snacks spontaneously! Also, we had to take an early morning flight, therefore, owner arranged the breakfast sandwich for everyone :-) Homemade food was extraordinary and everyone loved it. We highly recommend this place if you are looking for a stay in Udaipur! We will surely come back again.

We were invited to a cooking class at Udaipur. The hospitality was very warm and the story of the host and the family is very interesting. Befoer coming we have asked to have less spicy food and the whole menu was adjusted according yo our request. Beyond all that the atmosphire was great and the food was delicious. Thank you so much for a delighted evening.
