The location of the hotel is excellent on a hill top and you can get an excellent 360 degree view from its tereace (barring a water tank which blocks the view partially). It has ample parking and also has a pool (closed now due to COVID).
The rooms were spacious and clean with ample storage and space to keep your luggage confortably. The view from lake facing room was excellent overseeing the Fateh sagar lake.
It has 2 restaurants, one of them on the terrace giving excellent view of Fateh Sagar lake. The hotel manager told that they maintain separate platform for veg and non veg food which gave us some comfort as we are particular about veg food. The food tasted well and it had excellent breakfast spread. The staff were very helpful especially in the restaurant.
Few points where the hotel was not upto the mark are: 1. It did not have children play area or any game room. 2. The rooms were dimly lit, few corners were just too dark at night even with all lights on. 3. In the lake facing room, the geyser was faulty and we did not get hot water. Even after the repair it stopped working the next day. Because of these points, i give this hotel a 3 star rating, else it deserves good 5 star rating.
Things to do: capture the beautiful sunset from its terrace and enjoy the view of fateh sagar lake.
Mr Rishee took good care of us during our stay.
As soon as we reached the hotel after a long drive from Delhi, We were greeted by the amazing sunset view of Fateh Sagar Lake. The hotel is amazingly located at the bank of Fateh Sagar Lake and has their dedicated gated parking in case you are traveling by car. The buffet breakfast provides plenty of tasty food options to choose from, The hotel staff was courteous and were always on their toes to provide you with the best experience. One area of improvement could be the maintenance of washrooms, Although newly renovated the bath fittings were not in the best of their shapes. I hope to visit again some day.
My room was dated and dirty. After looking at reviews and images from other travellers on this site, I wonder if they had stayed in an entirely different hotel. The room originally had a swing in it, the swing is gone but the hooks are still in the ceiling. I was unable to get the air conditioner working and after removing the remote from the wall found that it was filthy. The switches for the bedside lamps were broken and also dirty. In many parts of the room, a thick layer of dust was visible in areas you wouldn't necessarily use but were still visible - this made you question just how clean the rest of the room was. I was unable to get pictures but will explain more on that later. The lighting in the room was very limited.
The bathroom was very dated and above the sink was a glass shelf (I have no idea what it was for) which you could tell hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. There were no tissues provided.
The internet was excellent when it worked.
Food selection was fine but the quality was less than fantastic and most group members thought it was the most average meal all trip. Effort had been made to incorporate a St Patrick's Day theme into the dinner service which I will give them credit for.
Finally, the hotel staff were very good. They informed our tour guide that the Rajasthan Government was implementing a mandatory 14 day lockdown as part of the Coronavirus for all new arrivals and were able to check us out of the rooms while we were out. It was a quick dash when we got back to pack up and head to the airport to catch our flight. I was unable to get images of the room as a result.
With a bit of effort, this hotel could be quite something and I hope that the management / owners can bring it back to its former glory.
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and the only thing which was good was the view.
From the same repeated breakfast to a drunk group of men creating a mess in the pool at 8 in the morning, you can witness plenty of such things as per your luck.
This hotel has been getting a lot of booking because of their location & price and thus maintains a check-in time of 2 pm, but they will never inform the guest about the non availability of early check in it and if you try connecting then you can just pray to god that they pick your call.
Upon arrival You might also get lucky to get a room next to the one which is under repair and you can enjoy drilling and hammering for free on your head as any number of times you complain a new person will always be there to tell you that he just knew about it and the work continues.
If you happen to order anything extra for kids then you can see staff making faces in front of you, the room service is a step ahead as they come and tell you on your face to order food in a single order and not to disturb them again & again!!!
They will even offer you pool towels at times saying that room towels have not come back from washing.
There is absolute "0" hospitality that you will see in the reception staff and room service staff, restaurant staff just stay within some decency limit during breakfast.
Overall a bad experience if you want relax in the hotel, consider using this as a bed & breakfast kind of place only.
This was our first visit to Udaipur and we are grateful to have discovered a warm and welcoming hotel and staff such as this.
As the name suggests, it sits atop a hill with some fabulous views from the terrace (where they serve dinner). The view from our room was great as well (we were on the floor above the reception) as we were facing the lake as well as the gardens and the pool.
While we didn't use the pool, we noticed lots of happy families enjoying the facility.
Our room and its balcony were spacious and comfortable.
The food and service were very good and it was wonderful to see a 'gender equality' in the Housekeeping, F&B as well as reception.
Our Housekeeping in Charge, Gopalji was A one - extremely helpful and efficient.
If ever back in Udaipur, would surely choose the Hilltop Palace Hotel again.
"Come after 2 pm for check-in else you wait for hours, they won't even offer water while you wait."Read full review
