If you want to have a truly wonderful stay in Udaipur, I would recommend you Jagat Niwas Palace. This was one of my best stays while I was in India with friends and family this May. I was feeling uneasy from too much hot as we landed in Udaipur, but, the moment Naveen drove us near Pichola ghat for our boat- ride to the hotel, all my heartburn vanished magically. It was our first glimpse of the Jagat Niwas and it was indeed a magical entrance. Our room had the lakeside view; after the hot sun, this room was always soothing and welcoming. This review would be complete if I don’t say anything about food. This was our first sample of Indian food in Udaipur and the food in Jagat Niwas was simply delicious. Their Lal mas and chicken tandoori was amazing; every morning they were making savory Indian breakfast for us. It was fresh and mouth watering. Our driver was Naveen for this stay; he was an amazing person and he had his way of making our travel quite smooth. We enjoyed his company immensely and had very nice talks with him. We had been thankful to have Naveen as our chauffeur in Udaipur. Thank you Naveen and Manish more enjoyable.…
excellent location and stunning views of the lake! Rooms are big and clean. they had good cultural programs in the eve to showcase Rajasthan culture. I loved the Santoor play every morning during breakfast by mr Suraj meethu ji was very caring in service. Hemant in the rooftop restaurant too was very hospitable. The rooftop restaurant has excellent views. Hemant at reception was again very helpful and cordial. above all the travel desk by Manish was very helpful….reasonable rates and had a comfortable cab with an efficient driver Navin who showed us around the place.
Thought of it as a budget hotel while booking but turned out to be a very good one. Although one may not expect the luxury of a 4 or 5 star hotel in terms of serive but for a no frills hotel its really superb property. Breakfast on roof top restaurant is amazing. Hotel has a small boat but their permission had expired when we visited the property else would have been a wonderful experience. For the kind of price one pays for it, its definitely a yes yes
Stayed for a 2 night stay in Mar - the hotel is an ideal location for tourists right next to City Palace & Lake Pichola. plenty of shopping/restaurants within walking distance. Hotel itself is a nice old style haveli on a hillside with lovely views onto the Lake from multiple viewing galleries/large breezy windows on all 3 floors. Since the hotel is located in the old city with very small pedestrian lanes only, cars need to drop you off short distance from the property, though autorickshaws can reach all the way.
You will get to see the breathtaking views of Lake Pichola from the restaurant of this centuries old exceptionally well maintained property. Quality of North Indian snacks as ordered by us was also mouthwatering. A must visit place when in udaipur. Services given by Mr. BP Singh was comforting.
We booked a 2 night stay at this palace hotel win their Lake Facing Suite. Hence it was expensive but we wanted an unforgettable stay on the Lake. Consider the tariff , we were very disappointed with the service. We asked for some ice for a drink, we were told we would have to pay for the ice in the ice bucket! We were stunned since this is the first time we’ve encountered a price for ice in a hotel, that too an expensive palace hotel! When we tried to reason with them, we were told that it is a “ hotel policy”. We were allowed to open the windows of our suite, which immediately let in a lot of mosquitoes ! When we requested them to clean that up, we were told that it’s our fault that we opened the windows! So the service and behaviour was unfriendly and cold. There was no greeting or acknowledgment as we walked past Reception! Very much in contrast to all our other hotels in the rest of Rajasthan who were so polite, hospitable and helpful. Another big annoyance is that cars do not go up to the hotel, so every time you need to go out and then return to the hotel, you will have to pay extra for the auto! The hotel only offers a free auto pick up and drop off service at check in and check out. When asked why not so when the guests have to leave the hotel or return, we were stated the same “ hotel policy”. Rather unacceptable, considering the high tariff. The 2 positives are that it truly is a very beautiful property, lavishly decorated and it has fabulous views and sunsets on Lake Pichola! But what good is all this grandeur and lake views when the guests feel that service and hospitality is not up the mark?…
The hotel is so beautiful and clean and it allows you to enjoy the magic view over the lake and to walk around Udaipur easily. We had a great time there and the restaurant on the rooftop is very very good. And a big thanks to the staff that is very helpful and nice!
Worst experience of a dineout resturant in the entire udaipur town. Forst of all my food was given to me after 45 minutes when I placed the order even at the lunch time . The taste on the other hand was pathetic. won't recommend it to anyone ever.
Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Have booked a room for 3. Positive 1) Excellent view (10/10) 2) Well maintained (10/10) 3) Good food (8/10) 4) Prompt service (10/10) Negative 1) Difficult to reach. Though they provide auto service, reaching is not easy especially if u carry heavy luggage. 2) The rooms are small. Though good for a couple, putting a third bed becomes difficult. Strongly advise for couples to stay in the hotel. But avoid if you are a family with kids.
WOWWW! That's this place! A small haveli turned into a hotel, this place is amazing! Extremely neat and clean! They provide the BEST views ever! Undisputed views of Lake Pichola, Taj Lake Palace and the Entire Ambrai Ghat! It's breathtaking! The staff is extremely Helpful and Kind! Every corner of this hotel is an Instagram-worthy Spot! The Rooftop Dining is like a Cherry on the Cake! Unparalleled view with Super Tasty Food! The hotel is located at a walkable distances from almost all Tourist places and famous Cafes- Restaurants! Only negative point would be the commute! A personal vehicle wouldn't reach its gates because of extremely narrow lanes. You're bound to take a local rickshaw that drops you in! But it's all worth it the extra effort!
