The ethereal Taj Lake Palace affords guests the pleasures of India's bygone princely era. Over the centuries, it has played host to royalty, poets and writers and the Maharana's guests. Trappings like a welcoming vintage car ride to the charming city of Udaipur, the Jiva Spa boat, royal butlers, recipes from traditional Mewari cuisine and arrival by boat - all little facets that make this former pleasure palace the celebrated luxury hotel it is today.

My wife and I are just back from a 5 day stay at the Lake Palace. I am happy to confirm all the positives written by previous reviewers. My own contribution would be this. If one were to consider the Lake Palace as a luxury cruise ship then it follows that personal space is at a

Response from Nayan_Seth, General Manager at Taj Lake Palace Udaipur

Dear Guest, Thank you for the excellent review. We are most delighted that your wife and you had an enjoyable experience and absolutely fabulous stay at Taj Lake Palace. Being fortunate to work in the magical setting of our 272 years old original, historic Palace and playing host to wonderful guests like you, nothing inspires us more than receiving such encouraging feedback. We appreciate your kind comments about the Palace, suites, restaurants, food, staff and their hospitality. The Udai Mahal Suite is also known as Maharaja Suite and its a Grand Royal Suite, one of the most demanded suites amongst our guests. Again as mentioned by you, the Bhairo roof top restaurant is also mostly appreciated by all our guests. It is a pleasure to learn that you enjoyed all aspects at the Palace and felt like a Maharaja during your stay here. I have shared your compliments with all my colleagues, including Gaurav Samtani, whose efforts made this possible. We look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future. Kind regards, Nayan Seth General Manager - Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur

My wife and I found every aspect of the Lake Palace Hotel beyond expectations and of all other 5 star hotels we have stayed in across the world. The location in the lake was spectacular. The public and private rooms elegantly furnished and the staff warmly efficient.

We finished our 5 week trip at the Taj Lake Palace and couldn’t have asked for a better finale. The staff make you feel like royalty from the moment you arrive and until you depart. Sure, there are pigeons, but this is India....there are pigeons everywhere. It’s part of the

The hotel is very old, over run with pigeons and the staff at check-in are very arrogant. Not sure why the hotel is part of the Amex fine hotels program when the Oberoi and Leela are both much better in Udaipur. The gym is tiny, steam room is moldy and restaurant selections are

Beautiful lake view room
Extremely unprofessional. It makes it seem like everything is artificial and not genuine hospitality. People understand the history of terrorism but this is not how you treat other people. Very sad.
