Ehi-Passika "come and experience" Buddha used to use this phrase when explorers used to ask about the beauty of his teaching. We are using this to welcome you all to come and experience our humble hospitality. Chandra Niwas is a simple homestay accommodation with basic rooms and bathroom fittings. It is our house which has been converted into a homestay for those who are interested in staying in the non touristy area. Most of all it is a place for socially responsible travelers and for those who are interested in getting to know our rural education initiatives. Located in a peaceful non-touristy neighborhood, Chandra Niwas provides guests with a unique opportunity to experience real Indian life and culture. This is not your average impersonal, commercial hotel in the middle of the touristy area. This is a Homestay into which you will be warmly welcomed and given personal attention to ensure that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. We welcome those guests with an interest in exploring the local community and a desire to escape the hassles and touts that plague touristy areas. Part of the revenue generated from the Homestay is invested in a grassroots non-profit organization, providing education to rural youth. In all our rooms you will find wall-hangings and bed covers made by local village artists. We have many other local arts and crafts on display in the communal area, which guests may purchase if they wish. In addition, all of our staff are employed from local villages and trained for future employment in the hospitality industry. Most rooms have WiFi, and all rooms have en-suite bathrooms with 24 hours hot water. Breakfast is served in a lovely dining area where free internet access and WiFi is available. You may also eat on the roof-top, overlooking the organic vegetable garden, and home-cooked lunches and dinners are available upon request. We also have a small library created by past travelers, including travel books, novels, and DVDs. Your hosts, Dr. Samvit Audichya and his hospitable family will personally assist you in planning your days in Udaipur, depending on your interests and length of stay. The hosts will also gladly take care of your transport needs and help you with onward travel arrangements (all at no extra cost). We genuinely enjoy helping our guests! We are a ten minute drive from the city center (4 kms) and walking distance to many stores, restaurants and a pharmacy.During your stay at Chandra Niwas you will have the opportunity to see Udaipur not just through the eyes of a tourist, but through the eyes of a local. Chandra Niwas Homestay is best suited for mid budget travelers who wish to stay away from the touristy old town and wishes to experience the true Indian Home experience. Dr. Audichya has been connected with travel, hospitality, business and social work for the last six years and is now connecting them both. My arrival at Chandra Niwas Homestay was warm, Samvit with all his patience made the most peaceful and detailed check-in of my entire life, served with a good Chai.

The visual impact regarding the cleanliness, order and sophistication of the place are notable, without a shadow of a doubt, Chandra Niwas Homestay was my best experience so far in India.

Organized apartment, clean towels, new and fragrant bed linen, hot water, clean bathroom and western toilet, fan, sockets throughout the room and quality Wifi.

My apartment had a beautiful painting on the wall and a mini library, small luxuries that we started to value when we arrived in India.

Chandra Niwas Homestay exudes the art of Rajasthan and Udaipur, walls with regional paintings and decorative paintings. The host's concern for bringing you the best possible experience is evident, Samvit is available at all times to assist with any queries, I literally felt like I was at home, the kitchen was always available, and has filtered water, and a refrigerator for store personal items.

All the meals served to me were fresh, especially the Thali!

Samvit offers tourist routes around the city if you like hiking or cycling through the city's forested areas. I also had the wonderful opportunity to share conversations on different topics, always with a good touch of humor and a lot of Chai.

Chandra Niwas Homestay is located in a very quiet area, far from the car horns and the usual hustle and bustle of India. Great for meditating, organizing your plans, practicing Yoga, as terrace areas are available. The view of Udaipur from the terrace is also an attraction, don't miss this opportunity.

From the Homestay you can walk for 5 minutes to Av. Principal and find shuttles to the city's main attractions, I was able to go to the City Palace, Fateh Sagar, and Princess Garden by paying 30 rupees for a shared tuk tuk, it didn't take me longer than 15 minutes to get to the center.

I would like to thank Samvit for all the hospitality, care, attention and moments shared, every Chai, my stay here was special.
I hope to welcome you to Brazil one day, thank you.

I can say, without a doubt, that my experience at Chandra Niwas has exceeded my expectations in absolutely every way. The property itself is quite stunning, in a serene neighborhood with plenty of opportunity to travel to the inner city with no stress. The room itself was beautifully decorated and very spacious, much higher quality than anywhere else I have stayed in India. The entire place was an incredibly warm and inviting environment that had clearly been continuously cleaned and well maintained.

The host offers a wide variety of fun cycling and hiking experiences throughout the city and nearby villages that allowed me to learn so much about the area and the culture of the people here. He has assisted me in travel accommodations as well as finding the best places to visit during my time here. He is a very attentive and good-hearted man that has a lot of wisdom to share about life. He also has a passion and vast knowledge about dogs, which is a great bonus for animal lovers :)

What really separates Chandra Niwas from other properties is the genuine kindness and compassion of the staff- each has made sure that I felt safe, taken care of, and delighted throughout my stay. As a young female solo traveler who had never been to India before, I was nervous about finding accommodations that made me feel comfortable and calm throughout my time in Udaipur, but I truly have been blessed to find a stay as remarkable as this one. The entire staff here is very friendly and personable, and has gone above and beyond to ensure that I have an incredible stay.

I would absolutely recommend this homestay to any traveler coming to this city; the experience here alone will leave a lasting impression for my entire life and has made my trip to India unforgettable. I cannot wait to return here and experience the genuine joy and homeliness that the host and his staff have created here- I could never thank them enough :)

I have been lucky enough to stay in a fantastic hotel/hostel in India that has left an unforgettable impression on me.
From the moment I arrived, I knew that this place was special. The owner, a kind, helpful and extremely empathetic person, took care of my well-being throughout my stay. Always making sure he made me feel at home, he even made sure that the food was to my liking and recommended the best places to visit.

Not only that, but I also discovered that this amazing human being has a great love for dogs, something that filled me with admiration. They even have a children's educational center where travelers can pitch in, demonstrating their commitment to education and the future of their community.

The tranquility that is breathed in this place is incomparable. The rooms are comfortable, comfortable and full of details that really make you feel like a home away from home. The cleanliness is absolutely impeccable in every corner, which is worth admiring.

I want to take this opportunity to deeply thank the hotel/hostel owner and team for their excellent service and hospitality. I can only encourage all people who are looking for accommodation in this beautiful city to consider this place without a doubt. An experience like this is truly one of a kind and I'm sure many other travelers will fall in love with this hotel as much as I did.

Don't miss the opportunity to discover this oasis of serenity and comfort in India! They really deserve it!

I don't know where to begin while describing this gem of a place called Chandra Niwas.
Let's start with the host, Samvit. He is a great human being and a true professional who always has a smile on his face. He is an amazing personality and we had ton of interesting conversations spanning across different topics. He is well read and absolutely fun to hang out with.
These guys also offer a trekking and cycling experience at a very reasonable price. We availed those during our stay and ended up going on a couple of nearby treks and one cycling trip exploring the neighborhoods nearby. Both of these experiences included Samvit (who is an avid trekker and cyclist) arranging everything that we would need and he was also the lead guide in both of those experiences.
Location wise, this place is very close to all the touristy spots that you would want to check off your list.
The food cooked by Motilal bhai was lip smacking delicious. Very authentic and fulfilling.
We met a bunch of fellow guests who were from all across the country. Had a great time chatting with them during dinner.
Last but not the least if you're a dog person you're in for a treat. There are three Saint Bernards who will absolutely melt your heart.

The experience at Chandra Niwas was amazing. I had a warm welcome by the owner Samvit himself. The accommodation was great. Clean, comfortable and silent. The atmosphere of the house is calm and serene, you'll feel good and at home there. The location is actually great, in a quiet neighbourhood, and the center of the city is easily reachable by autorickshaw. I ate good vegetarian meals, just spicy as I like it.
I got the opportunity to do the different activities that Samvit offers, such as bicycling tour and some hiking in the hills, which allowed me to discover the city from a different angle and to see the beautiful nature surrounding Udaipur.
My stay here was a little peace haven in the middle of a tumultuous trip through India.

Stayed here for 10 nights whilst volunteering at nearby animal aid. The room I stayed in was an en-suite double with a lovely shower room. My friend and I ate breakfast and dinner most nights in the homestay, which was always plentiful and freshly prepared. The water is filtered and bottled for you to use for a small donation which was very much appreciated. Samvit is an extremely knowledgeable and generous host who personally showed us the best place to get a chai (amongst other things)!! We would regularly get lifts to animal aid and even lifts to go shopping (for a small fee), in fact, nothing was too much to ask. If I was to recommend anything to bring, it would be a few pegs to hang out your washing on the line on the roof. We found that it was easier to hand wash our own clothes as the laundry takes a few days (it is taken into town somewhere). If you like big dogs, you will also like it here!

My stay at Chandra Niwas was simply blissful. The atmosphere of the house is peaceful, calm and serene, far from the tourist area, the perfect place for feeling home. If you are looking for an authentic experience in Rajasthan and not for a fake one, just go there. Sumvit, the owner of the homestay and founder of an educational project with children in a rural village, will show you around, helping you to deepen in the local traditions and to mingle with the locals too. Villages excursions, street food tours, hiking on the hills and around the lakes, temples exploring and much more. I spent almost every day of my time here with the kids at the "school", which actually is not just a normal school, but more a free space where they can play, learn new subjects, meet new people from new cultures and, above all, discover and practice values such as solidarity, kindness and the importance to be a team. I loved my week here, i also learnt how to cook some great (and deliciously gravy) indian dishes, like the Matar Paneer!! Really hope to come back in the future in this small oasis of peace far from the noise and the aggressivity of the world 🤍

This homestay was such an incredible surprise!!! We just needed a place to stay in the area and came across Samvit's homestay – it was budget friendly, so we decided to book. But it is just incredible value for money.
We think that Samvit's homestay is the best homestay in Udaipur. It represents the ethnic core of the culture of Rajasthan: very beautiful, warm, colorful and ethnic interiors, with amazing artwork.
It has all the amenities one could need, and warm and welcoming hosts!
They were kind enough to let us keep the luggage at their place since they had no booking, and to pick us up from the airport.
Once settled in, we were served with delicious breakfast.
Next morning, we had a great conversation with Samvit and his father and got to know their experiences of hosting a variety of guests.
It is located in a quiet neighborhood, away from the hustle of the city, yet close to it! Tourist attractions like Fathehsagar lake and Saheliyon Ki Bari are closest from the location.
We enjoyed it more than a 4* hotel we stayed at, in Udaipur, which was much more expensive.
The whole experience was memorable for all of us. Highly recommended to book a stay here at least once. Looking forward to visit again!!
