My group only spent an afternoon here relaxing in the pool which was wonderful. The manager gave us a guided tour of the hotel with lots of information about the filming which took place here. We were also provided with tea and pakora. Everyone was very welcoming.

A lovely family run hotel which was used as the hotel in the film 'The best exotic marigold hotel'. From the film it appears to be in Jaipur but it is outside Udairpur and not easy to find. Once we got there we were welcomed by the owner and his sons, who also run a stud farm from the premises....

Unfortunately we only stayed one night in this quaint hotel. Wished we were staying longer. We enjoyed the pool, loved the "village walk" thoroughly enjoy the meals and thought the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We visited to see where they made the movie and came a way with an all round experience of a genuine Indian village. Can't...

The Manager Nitin made sure that our stay at the Ravla Khempur (also known as the Best Marigold Hotel for the Old and Beautiful) was one to remember. Village walks; spice smelling and tasting; fresh produce markets; meeting the people; cooking in the homes of villagers; just living the movie dream and sensing the actual movie. Noting was to much...

The Ravla Khempur better known all over India as the Marigold Hotel is an amazing experience.. It is very remote, being an hour and a half drive from Udaipur and if you don't have a car you have to call one from Udaipur. It is set in the middle of the Udaipur countryside and is a place out of the...

A stay at the Ravla Khempur Hotel is an exceptional experience that is well worth including in your itinerary. I absolutely loved staying here. I recommend a stay of no less than 3 nights. I arrived at the Ravla Khempur to regroup after a whirlwind tour of Southwest India and a second visit to Mumbai. I stayed 6 nights, but...

With seven other women an Pollyanna our yoga teacher, we spent three nights at this hotel and loved every minute. The hotel is old and beautiful and its situation well outside Uaidapur is ideal for any kind of tranquil rest and recuperation from urban clang and clamour. Comfy clean beds. Large bedrooms ensuite. The chef is some kind of genius...

I hired a driver to take me to the Ravla Khempur to/from Udaipur, and spent a gorgeous couple of hours there. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is one of my favourite films, so naturally I had to pay a visit. Around an hour and a half's drive from Udaipur, it is definitely worth the trip! The place is just as...

If you are a fan of heritage hotels, royal vibes, horses and generous hospitality I bet you don't want to miss this place if you are in udaipur. Its location makes it all the more exotic as it's away from the main city. It is also a preferable place for shooting movies as the majestic grandeur of the architecture attracts...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Now reopened with Resaalaa Restaurant. Ravla Khempur used as The BestExotic Marigold Hotel,a british movie. The title ‘Ravla’ in Rajasthan refers to the home of a village chieftain”. In earlier days, the Ravla was the focal point of the entire village. Functions such as village welfare, collection of taxes, administration of law and order, and the initiation of festivals took place in the Ravla. Ravla Khempur exudes historical ambience and is graced with breathtaking surroundings. The lofty terraces, open courtyards, sprawling gardens, domes, arches and canopied balconies transport one back in time. Khempur village developed over the centuries to one side of the Ravla. It comprises a small, random and attractive cluster of typical rural dwellings and shops, and shaded squares where the villagers discuss the affairs of the world or share the local gossip. For the visitor, this is a side of India that has its own fascination; the cheerful welcome and natural hospitality of the village folk who ask nothing more than to enjoy a chat over a cup of tea. ... more   less
