DISCOVER RURAL INDIA! The Krishna Ranch is an excellent place for everyone who wants to get away from India's busy cities and discover rural India. The ranch is located at a very peaceful spot in the Arravali mountains, just 7 kilometers out of Udaipur city. The Krishna Ranch is not a typical resort, but a living farm with 14 beautiful Marwari horses, many other animals and lush fields with a variety of crops. The cottages at the ranch are clean and spacious, nicely decorated with regional handicrafts. We serve excellent vegetarian meals, mostly prepared from vegetables grown at our ecological farm. The ranch is a great starting point for short walks and bicycle rides to the surrounding villages. We will provide a simple map of the area and packed lunches for a pick-nick on the way are available. Guided treks to the remote parts of the Arravali-mountains are also possible. The beautiful and peaceful ranch is of course also a place to just sit back and relax. There is a small library with books and games. Roomrates include breakfast and pick up from Udaipu-city at the start of your stay and drop off at the end of your stay. The main activity organized by Krishna Ranch are professionally guided horse-safaris through the beautiful Arravali mountain-range. There are possibilities for everyone: from beginners to experienced riders, from 2,5 hours to 10 days! Of course all our horses and other animals are very well looked after by us and our dedicated staff. Note that rides/guided hikes need to be booked in advance.

It’s with a heavy heart I write this review because the plus points are - the place is owned by a lovely friendly couple, the staff we met were happy and smiling, their dogs are adorable, the rooms are clean and large, nice big bathrooms, dinner and breakfast that we had was nice… BUT - it’s called a ‘ranch’ with horses, so you can ride. Except there’s no riding at the moment and honestly, if it had said this online I wouldn’t have booked it. I had read reviews on TA and my friend was very excited to ride a mewari horse for the first time. To be informed that we should have checked - kind of defeats the purpose of going to stay on a ranch for riding!? Silly me for assuming… It is out of the city so in our case once the car dropped us off we were there with nowhere to go, and now nothing much to do. If you are a horse lover (and when riding is available) I can imagine you’d have a lovely stay here.

My wife and I completed a 10 day horse safari starting with an overnight stay at the ranch and a 350km ten day ride north through the Aravalli hills to kiruli and then on a circular route back to Ranakpur. We spent a mix of nights under canvass and in local hotels. This is riding through rural India and is as exciting as it is charming. These well cared for horses are a joy to ride but the real gem of the holiday is Dinesh and his support team, evenings talking around the open fire were a particular treat. I am an enthusiastic carnivore but ten days on the fantastic vegetarian food prepared by the team was a joy. Our next event with this team will hopefully be pushkar horse and camel fair and then south to Udaipur.

We absolutely loved to stay there! We were there for three nights and stayed in the double room/house, which is very spacious, includes a terrace and is well equipped (be aware that the beds are quite hard though). The rest of the ranch offers plenty of outside space too: a common room where meals are taken, but also a patio/pavillion. Francine and Dinesh are great hosts, they answered all our questions and provided us with all the assistance we needed for organising transport (from/to the city, the airport and our next destination). The ranch is very quiet, in the countryside, so surrounded by wild animals (squirrels, monkeys, peacock) and the ranch also hosts plenty of animals (horses of course, but also dogs and goats). It's only 7 kms away from Udaipur, which means it is also very easy to reach. Breakfast was great (tea/coffee, eggs, fruits, toasts), and so were lunch and dinner! The ranch also provides filtered water. We also enjoyed very much the half day of horse riding with Dinesh to discover the surroundings.

This is the best place to be if you want to rest and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It's close to the city, but it feels miles away, so quiet and peaceful. No fog or honking at all. We did a very special hike through the mountains which was also breathtakingly beautiful. The food is delicious: continental options but also amazing homemade traditional Indian food made by the lovely cooks. All the staff are so nice and most of them speak very good English. They provide fresh filtered water, and they do not use straws! They are very eco-friendly. The milk comes from their own cows and some greens come from their own land. In short: perfect for a small family, couple or single traveler who want to enjoy the amazing nature and peace this place brings.

It was a real pleasure to be welcomed here after city life. The Ranch's walking tour provided a fascinating insight into rural and farming life, as well as great photo opportunities. The food used home-grown ingredients and every care was taken to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. We were driven to Udaipur to see the palace, etc so got the best of both worlds.

Krishna Ranch is the perfect place to relax if you need to get away a bit from the hustle and bustle of Indian life in bigger cities. There is something deeply relaxing about hearing the sounds of nature with the odd horse neighing. Dinesh was a wonderful host who went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience on his farm and in the surrounding area. We went on a horse ride and Dinesh had both of our kids lead by one of his guys which was great. Because his horses frequently feature at weddings we also had the unique opportunity to witness some rural wedding parties which was truly special. The rooms are beautiful, clean and tastefully furnished, there is a beautiful pagoda to read, meditate or just watch the peacocks and monkeys. The food was amazing and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Possibly the best place we have stayed in in our now ten weeks in India!

We stayed 2 nights in one of the cottages and rode the fabulous Marwari horses round the hills and villages with Dinesh. So lush and green after the cities, Krishna Ranch is the perfect peaceful haven. Dinesh’s wife Francine is warm and welcoming; food was great and nothing seemed too much trouble. We had to drag ourselves away

I love this place, love sleeping in the countryside just outside Udaipur, listening to monkeys, peacocks and other birds. Great place, great hosts and beautiful location only a few minutes from the city. A wonderful place to retreat from the noise and pollution of indian cities and appreciate the life of the rajasthani countryside. Great hikes too and of course, horses ! I would add that the ranch is providing free filtered water thus reducing plastic bottle waste and using solar power for hot water - I like that !
