I am just sad that they changed such a beautiful guest house, they have new construction that has ruined the common spaces and terrace which were their main attraction.
Best for backpackers and the ones who are on budget but want lake side view.
The dorms are really good, with 2 beds separated with a wall. It cost around 150 Rs. for a night.
They also have luxurious rooms with ac and excellent view of the lake side.
I would recommend that you take room number 17 . Though it is a bit priced as what is the size of the room but its on the terrace and the view from the balcony is just breath taking .
There restaurant too is located on the perfect place alongside the lake .
It does some things extremely well and others not so much.
It's family run and Sanjay can assist with onward bookings though there was a little confusion over our booking which resulted in three of us having to share a room.
Firstly the location is great, right on the edge of Lake Pichola with stunning views and a short walk to the Udaipur Palace with good shopping and eating nearby.
Secondly the young staff are brilliant, very helpful and willing to go the extra mile.
The food is basic but tasty if you want to eat in and a Kingfisher on the roof terrace as the sun goes down is quite an experience.
We stayed in one of the premium rooms right on the lakefront but the thing that let it down was it wasn't as clean as it could have been and there were holes in the sheets.
The wifi reception didn't exist in the room but was available at the checkin desk.
A good tip is you can swim in the rooftop pool at the nearby Udaigarh Hotel for a small fee... a welcome respite when it's hot.
Also there is the facility to store your bags after checkout if you have a late departure.
But my abiding memory is the helpfulness of the young staff... much appreciated.
"Ask for lakeside rooms if available, it will be an awesome experience and every bit worth the extra money spent."Read full review
