Certificate of Excellence
Fateh Garh, a Heritage Renaissance Resort - Sanctuary, perched on the edge of Udaipur city in the Aravalli ranges, with 360° commanding views, welcomes guests with style & traditional fanfare. Fateh Garh, a 50 room property offers travelers a spacious, peaceful and quiet refuge from the noisy and crowded urban India. Conde Nast Hot List 2009:- "Until now the best places to stay in Udaipur have been the princely piles on Lake Pichola's shores or its fairy-tale island palace. Fateh Garh offers something different: "Heritage Renaissance" style. Perched on a hilltop 20 minutes outside the city, this newly constructed 51-room hotel incorporates local stone and antique architectural elements culled from abandoned historic buildings. A confection of bulbous domes, sugar-white pillars, crenellations, and intricate jali screens, it escapes the kitschy through its graceful proportions and airy reception areas, courtyard, and verandas—all of which are graced with antiques and delicate frescoes inspired by the style of Rajput miniatures. Lie by the infinity pool, listening to the sound of splashing fountains mingling with live classical shehnai music. The hotel kitchen does best with local Mewari dishes, which are a welcome change from standard Indian hotel fare".

As previous reviews have mentioned the views from the hotel are superb but I’m afraid for us that is where it ended.

Great venue for weddings and functions but you don’t want to be staying there when they are happening.

We had 3 nights...first two quiet with hardly anyone there

I couldn't rate my experience at the Fateh Garh highly enough. Among the mountains, the view alone is spectacular, at sunrise or sunset, it's practically a religious experience.Admittedly the bar service may have been a tad slow , understaffed perhaps but that only added to it's

The hotel is well outside of the centre of Udaipur and there are great views looking back to the lake. The rooms are OK, but nothing special, and everything else is mediocre at best. There is a bar...... but the staff are well trained to ignore customers. If you do get a drink yo

Hi, just wanted to know how far the hotel is from the city, I understand it is on the outskirts of Udaipur. What options are available for travel to Udaipur?
It is about 20 minutes from main city circle (chetak circle).

Yes, they do offer excellent food menu with variety of dishes to suite your palette. If you are looking for taste to match your country meal, that's rathar different coz each has its own speciality but nevertheless, this restaurants at Fateh Garh is best in Udaipur with great ambience, great cuisine and roof top amidst nature. The cooks are par excellent to serve your choice.

Hello. Your review of Fateh Garh was helpful. We are a family of five with three teen daughters. We are thinking of going there at the end of December which is probably a popular time to be there. Wondering how you found the restaurant prices and menus... I keep reading the 2 restaurants are really expensive? Do they have basic options that aren't overly fancy for my kids? Also, doesn't look like the pools are heated -any chance they are? It'll be cold in December. Thanks for your help. Vivian
We were there in January. I do not believe the pool was heated, but there were 2 women dipping themselves briefly. The weather was cool, but beautiful to sit outside in the afternoon in the sunshine and have snacks/drinks overlooking the infinity pool and the lake and city below. We did not find the restaurants pricey, maybe a little more than in town. The breakfast buffet is included with plenty of options, both Indian and not, and very satisfying. Afternoons we shared some great snacks, including a BBQ chicken type pizza. Dinner was either a choice of prix fixe buffet or a la carte, which we chose and enjoyed. Meals were offered outside on the picturesque patio, or you could go inside to the glass enclosed dining room. One night we dined in town at Ambrai, and ate lakeside surrounded by sparkling palaces (and would highly recommend that for a nice family dinner in town/Udaipur). Layered clothing is a must for that time of year, as the evenings could be cool, especially if dining outside (many places, including Fateh Garh, have patio heaters). During the day, we could wear short or long-sleeved shirts.
