I stayed here for about a month, in March of 2018. The owner gave me a very nice discount because I stayed so long. Everything worked out great. The owner and the rest of the staff were very polite and attentive. They were not greedy like many other hotels I went to in India. They were very honest as well.

The room was not too big, but it was fine. It was very clean, and the view was beautiful! I got the deluxe room with a balcony, because a balcony with a good view is important to me. My friend stayed in a basic room for a cheaper price, and he was happy with his room, too.

The outdoor rooftop restaurant is very good. And the staff there are very good at their job, very polite and attentive and charming. The food and prices were as good as any other hotel restaurant in the area. The views from the restaurant are great! All the prices for taxis and buses and motorbikes, etc., were as cheap or cheaper as any other that I could find in the city.

I really enjoyed the location as well. It's much quieter than the other area with hotels, across the bridge. There are a few similar hotels with similar restaurants/views/menu, and those were nice options when I wanted to get out of my hotel and try something new.

Overall, I was very happy with my experience. The only problem is I am very sensitive to noise, and sometimes it was very loud. Across the lake, there is a city square and it seems like there is a festival or concert or fireworks almost every night. It's fun at first, but sometimes it gets pretty annoying -- especially when it happens late at night and you're trying to sleep. But this isn't the hotel's fault -- it's just how India is, I think. And all the hotels in the city would also hear the same noises, so you can't really control it.

The only thing that bothered me is my room was directly below the restaurant, and every morning at 7:00 AM or so, the staff would clean the restaurant and move the metal chairs across the floor. It was very loud and annoying, and usually would wake me up. I politely asked them to try to lift the chairs so I didn't hear the noise, but it didn't really change. I guess the chairs are pretty heavy and they are already working hard, so they don't want to lift the chairs. I understand that, and it wasn't a big deal.

Overall it was a very positive experience. Highly recommend!!

Had a few nights at panorama and it was great, location is amazing, quiet little spot but just over the footbridge is the busier tourist area. Staff are helpful and friendly also.

Highlight is the rooftop restaurant with amazing views and really relaxed atmosphere. Had one full meal here which was one of the best I've had so far in India.

I only visited the restaurant at this place, I didn't stay at the hotel.
The meals were good and the portion size was more than I was able to eat. Waiting service was ok. The best part for most of the restaurant's customers might be the rooftop view that you have while eating your meal.

I booked this guest house based on the reviews here. The guest house was neat and clean and for 900 rupees i got a small room. The approach to the guesthouse is little confusing and the roads are very narrow but it is same for other places too. The location is great and all the tourist places are nearby. The room was okay and had a attached bath and had no almirah. The bath and toilet were not functioning properly. The water in the bathroom was hard water, very dirty and had a foul smell. After complaining about it to the staff and the owner, nobody bothered about it and said we can't do anything. Also the bathroom door could not be closed from inside due to some problem and after complaining about this too, nothing happened. The blankets and towels provided were dirty. The restaurant at the rooftop was good and was clean and hygenic. The food served was also good. So my final verdict is that it was not worth the money and you should look for a better hotel nearby.

A little expensive, but it's totally worth it because of the view. And the service is good too. You can watch the movie octopussy at 7pm every night or go to see the sunset. The food I had was delicious.

probably the best place to stay as a backpacker in Udaipur! especially the rooftop restaurant and the quiet terrace on the first floor (with turtles) add up to its charm.
The rooms are good, and quite cheap (800 INR for a double).
Also the food is really good! We had breakfast, pizza and an Indian meal, all excellent!
It is also very well located, walking distance from all major attractions, and yet not too busy. You do have to pass through some very narrow streets, so if you come by car there are more accessible locations...
Only downside: Wifi was not always working as it should.

Starting was extremely bad but later on good stay overall. we reached Udaipur around 11.30PM after driving very long stretch(Mumbai to Udaipur 750km in a day). We(me and my wife) were dead tired. No one was awake, everyone was slept. After trying hard to wake up someone. One guy finally came out, When he saw my car parked in front of hotel. He rudely said dont park here.. park behind other rickshaws. I apologised that guy and assured him I will do it once our luggage in our room. When we asked that guy to take our luggage to our room. He rudely replied "NO...". We have to take our own luggage to our room(no lift in hotel). Even after telling him that we came all the way from Mumbai and tired. It was horrible experience.
Normally we get a water bottle to our room but here I thought I did great mistake for asking one. When we ask can we get some food..again thought of asking was mistake to that guy.

About room, it was small but adequate, clean, had no TV, phone was dead, bathroom were good and clean. bed mattress was nice but due to ANT's we couldn't sleep properly. When complained next day. They did clean the room and not much of problem. Staircase are pretty small but it goes with every other hotel in that area.
Few good things happened too.
Daytime service was pretty good. Specially Mr. Krishna(Manager) was way more than helpful. When we complained about our room(ant problem) he was more eager to get that done than us.Asked about nearby places to visit, he guided us very well, including auto fare and all. All day time staff were nice to us.

We loved the rooftop dinner(Candle light, moon light) with great view of lake pichola. Service was excellent there, but menu was not much of Indian and costly.

Location is good if you dont take you car but its goes with every other hotel nearby extremely narrow roads/lanes. Walking distance from City palace, sunset point, ropeway and some good places.

Found this hotel average compare to what ever experience till date.

We appreciate your comments about our guesthouse, as with all guesthouses the staff usually go to sleep at 11 pm. It was unfortunate that your late arrival meant they had fallen into a deep sleep. Most expensive hotel have lifts and free water but this is a family run guesthouse and we are delighted that the following day you received good and courteous help from our staff and were happy with your stay. With best wishes Krishna and all the staff at Panorama Guesthouse.

For under a thousand rupees you can get a double room with a private balcony overlooking the beautiful city of Udaipur, including the massive palace complex. The breakfasts on the rooftop were some of the best we've had in India and the neighborhood is more authentic than the other touristy parts of Udaipur. There are several temples and mosques in the surrounding area so the mornings were filled with a wonderful cacophony of sound so don't plan on sleeping late but I felt this really added to the ambience.

How is the family room at panorama guest house?
Answer from Mitul Bhavsar
Ahmedabad, India238 contributions18 helpful votes
strictly ok but as its a budget hotel, you cant expect great.. so if you are ok with rooms and services - not like a hotel, go for it. its near by everything around udaipur so thats advantage... but make sure you ask them CLEARLY about what you have to pay because they may ask some money upfront when you go there by saying any extra stuff inclusive.
Answer from Lopamudra M

1. The weather will be very pleasant, absolutely no need of AC. Keep those windows open with great view that would work. 2. Yup hot water service was there in the attached bathroom. 3. Confirm with them regarding parking, the lanes are quite narrow and it would depend on availability of space.
