Stayed 4 nights recently. Surely one of the most authentic and peaceful places to stay near the park. Small but incredibly cozy Luxury Cottage overlooking lake. It was sadly wet, mizzly and at times misty so we rarely had opportunities to sit outside or to explore. Not the weather for outside bathing either. Pity! It was pretty cold too so the heating was fabulous and even dried out our wet clothes. The owners have quite a story to tell and it was a nice coincidence to meet Usha again after 16 years. There is an onsite shop which is run by a concession. Great range of materials and good prices so we took advantage. Highly recommend it. Tiger sightings were good despite the weather. However, the down side not reflected in other reviews is that the place does not feel sharply run.…
We selected Khem villas for the reviews praising it of its authentic spirit of conservation and tourism. We were not disappointed. The owners over several decades have miraculously changed the landscape of barren land to become that which is teeming with rich wildlife and forest, hereby attracting all sorts of exciting animals including leopards, panthers, crocs, bears and even tigers. The staff really know their stuff. I was so impressed by the knowledge of local wildlife and species of their in-house conservationists and guides, Digvijay and Rohit. The two make a great duo and are good fun as you get to know them, as we did, by the fireside trying to observe the stars and moon on the lunar eclipse night - next to the in-house croc-filled lake! They went out of their way to…
Wonderful family stay at Khemvillas. We stayed in the main house. Large rooms with bay window reading nook, en-suite bathroom. Clean, comfortable and excellent service. There are also villas and tent accommodation which overlook a large lake. There is a pool but too cold in winter. There is a bar area overlooking another lake with resident crocodiles. Little touches like hot water bottles at night and on safari along with blankets and provisions puts Khem villas into a class of its own. Resident naturist to help with any wildlife queries. Father of current owners was prominent in Tiger rescue in India. They show a video on preservation of natural environment and tiger programs. Rare to tick all the eco boxes in India. The delicious vegetarian food at khem villas is organic from…
Khem Villas is a bit further out than some of the other hotels, but is a piece of paradise! The tents were beautiful, the entire property was completely peaceful, and the staff were very welcoming. All food is vegetarian and most is locally grown - you drive past their huge veggie garden as you enter the property. The hotel also provides a nature walk around the property - unfortunately we had to cut ours short due to timing, however I think this walk can go for 2 hours and would be worth doing! Be sure to visit the textile shop on the property as well - stunning pieces, very well priced, and fantastic service.
We spent one night at this beautiful property and wish it had been more. The staff is very kind and helpful as well as extremely professional. We loved the nightly bonfire and bar. The food is all organic and grown on property! Without hesitation we recommend this beautiful, welcoming property.
