If you go to the tiger reserve in Ranthambore, consider staying at Khem Vilas. They are attentive and courteous. The tents as tents go are top drawer. ( there are villas also) They do a wake up call by bringing tea or coffee to your tent. They accompany you to the tent after dark to make sure you are ok. The best is they give you a box lunch, a bottle of water, a blanket and ( here goes) a hot water bottle for going on the safari at a brisk dawn. A vegetarian menu made from home grown vegetables. Not for everyone but a nice break from the usual menus along the way. I highly recommend this special place!!! Dr. Foth
Our second time at Khem Villas, as before nothing is too much trouble for their magnificent team, peaceful, comfortable and with wonderful food. The usual warm welcome both on arrival and on each return from safari. The small touches such as hot water bottles and blankets for safari set Khem Villas apart from the other local hotels.
If you want to feel 'spoilt' on a safari in Ranthambore N.P. then this is the one to choose. Exceptional location, vegetarian food, and service. Full board with breakfast (after early morning drives) lunch and evening dinner. Outdoor bar beside a bonfire in the grounds with hot nibbles brought round. On chilly evenings small braziers are put beside your table, before dinner is served from large vessels sitting over hot coals. Beds are turned down and hot water bottles provided. Before leaving in your jeep at 5.30 a.m. travelling rugs are handed to you containing more hot water bottle! Truly exceptional venue..
Lovely quiet spot with our tent looking out across a grassy lake up to the hills. Very good service and not too overwhelming. Tent very comfortable with excellent bathroom with 2 sinks and good shower. Bed very comfortable. Morning safaris accompanied with snacks blankets and hot water bottles plus drinking water. Good breakfast. Omelette poached eggs and porridge all great. Lunch served by waiters. We had onion quiche and vegetable wraps with and assortment of vegetables and salads. Dinner is a large buffet choice all vegetarian but delicious and naans and chapatis. A lovely stay.
We had four nights at Khmer Villas and could have stayed there for ever. Although we arrived later than we should have in the dark and through teeming rain, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, shown to our lovely individual villas, then taken to the dining area for a delicious evening meal, then back to our rooms where hot water bottles nestled under the covers on this unseasonably cool evening. The following morning hot drinks were brought to our rooms before we set off on our first game drive with snuggly blankets and more hot water bottles - we’d never felt so cosseted in our lives. The food is amazing and our staunch carnivore friend was forced to concede that vegetarian meals really were’nt so bad after all. Little charcoal braziers set alongside our tables at mealtimes…
