2 night stay at the Khem Villas ........... Deluxe Tent was a great choice. Great accommodation under canvas including an amazing shower. Rooms were very comfortable and provided all necessary facilities. Early rises for safaris with warm coffee and snacks before starting out and great breakfast on our return ........ this worked well for us and gave us some relaxing time before afternoon safari. Evening drinks around the camp fire was most enjoyable and time to chat with fellow guests and the Villas owners who joined us. Star gazing was an added bonus ......... first time we had seen saturn in all its glory. Great staff throughout our stay and all adding to a great stay.

Hotel's Favourite
We recently stayed for 3 nights at Khem Villas in the family suite - it consists of 2 bedrooms and a small common lounge. We enjoyed our stay here and will have fond memories of Ranthambore, partly due to this hotel ( and mainly due to our tiger sightings!). Room - very spacious, clean , large bathrooms, wonderful view of the outdoors. However, one room had no wardrobe/ closet space - there was nowhere to put our clothes out and we ended up using the sofa in the room as a dumping ground for our clothes. This I think needs to be sorted out. Food- tasty food with some very yummy desserts. I understand that pre-Covid, lunch was not Indian food. However, at present there is an Indian lunch buffet which we couldnt justify as post safari breakfast is around 10 and the afternoon safari starts at 2.15 which means we needed to have lunch at 1.30 - barely 3 hours after a filling breakfast. I think light salads and such would be a much better option. Staff - everybody we met was polite and the service was great. We especially enjoyed our talks around the campfire with Digvijay, the in house naturalist, who patiently answered our 8 year old's never ending questions. Also, Mahendra, the new ?F&B manager, was very accomodating to our needs, getting hot chocolate for our son in the evenings, fruit salad for lunch when we declared we couldnt possible eat roti/rice and serving my dad a very late breakfast one day on request. The evening campfire was a great time to chat with fellow guests and the property itself is beautiful - starry nights and no honking of horns as it was away from the main road. We had very high expectations after our wonderful safari in South Africa a few years back. And though the game drives did not live upto the standards ( these we booked through the official government website), Khem Villas made up for it. This was our first safari lodge experience in India and I am glad we chose Khem Villas for it.

A brilliant choice . We really struggled initially to find the right accommodation in Ranthambhore ...but were SO lucky to have finally chosen Khem Villas. It is worth paying the extra to stay here. Set on the most beautiful site on the National Park's boundary with lots of chance to see wildlife on site ( a leopard paid a visit to the camp whilst we were having evening drinks around the fire!)...our rooms were super comfortable with the best hot showers we have had in a long time.....and the home grown vegetarian food was the best we had in India. Meal times were a real treat . However it was the wonderful staff who couldn't do enough for you.........and the attention to detail ( hot water bottles wrapped in blankets for our safaris ) that were above and beyond. Khem Villas has real integrity. We would particularly like to mention Dinesh who was an absolute star. He took us on a trip to Ranthambhore Fort which is so highly recommended. For future travellers some top tips- Pre-book your Tiger safaris through 'Ranthambhore Safaris' well in advance .Khem Villas do not make the booking for you. Best is to do a private jeep ( 4-6 persons) in Zones 1-5 .We had an amazing tiger viewing on our last safari in Zone 3..and it will be a memory that will stay with us for a long time. However spotting a tiger is definitely not a given ( we saw just once in 5 safaris) but Ranthambhore is a special beautiful place and a real highlight of our trip to Rajasthan. ...also pack warm clothes especially for the early mornings-it can be very chilly!

We felt lucky to be in a smaller hotel as these were the spots where we were more inclined to chat with other guests. The property did its own nature walks and our room was beautiful with a view of a small pond below with crocodiles! The birds were beautiful and there had even been a tiger roaming the property on the evenings before and during our stay (we just saw paw prints with the naturalist!). We did jeep 4 safari rides to Ranthambore from there and were lucky enough on our second outing to see a tigress with THREE CUBS! Amazing guides but we were also lucky! No tigers on the other 3 but it was still beautiful. The food and service were great.

We loved this hotel and were sooo glad that we stayed 3 nights. Fantastic service, looked after us so well. Food delicious all vegetarian. Naans were a particular favourite! Game drives were excellent- went on 5, saw tigers on 3 of them. And bears too. Wonderful gardens and great wildlife. Digvijay did super tours of the areas. But everyone was great! Do stay here

We had booked a 2 night stay to do some safaris between the visit to Jaipur and the Taj Mahal. And our biggest regret is that we did not book a longer stay. The Khem Villas are a real oasis with excellent food - with mostly homegrown ingredients and all vegetarian and an outstanding service. Were had a cottage by the lake with a crocodile family living at the lake. The cottage had an excellent standard with different options to sit outside and enjoy the nature. When you go in winter, this is an excellent option because they are located to the south having the sun all day. What also impressed us is the fact that the owner is dedicated to the preservation of the tiger population and that he also supports the local community.

My husband & I recently stayed at Khem Villas during our tour of India. What an absolutely fabulous place. We stayed in a Deluxe Tent which was fabulous; we even had a turn down service and hot water bottles to keep us cosy. The staff were exceptional during our stay and the food was amazing. The setting was lovely and we also went out on the game drives to see tigers at Ranthambhore National Park. Highly recommended.

Wow. What a place. A paradise of sorts. The nature and food and staff and accommodation were all amazing. The food is all made on site with their fresh vegetables and ingredients. Everything was delicious. We stayed in a lodge and it was gorgeous. Our friend loved his tent too. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We had fresh fires around our table on an evening to keep us warm. Plenty of very reasonable alcoholic drink choices. We went on a nature walk which we highly recommend, we did this at the end of our trip but wish we had done it when we arrived. We also loved the on site boutique shop - the owner was so friendly. He makes all the fabrics throughout the accommodation with his material and factory. Thank you Khem villas!!!

It took us about 5.5 hours with some stops to reach from Agra. They provided a driver - the best we had in India (drove like a European!). When we arrived, it was lovely. A friendly welcome, with a superb summary of the property with all the information you would want. We were in one of the luxury villas and it felt very newly refurbished. Crucially for January (winter), it was very warm - it's like a cross between a tent and a conservatory! (loads of nice warm double glazing and a good heating system). We even had a small friendly lizard in the room, ;-) The staff we well trained and very helpful - fetching some things from the pharmacy for us when we were unwell. Sadly that was a theme (we were unwell before we arrived there), so didn't get to eat much of the food, but it seemed quite high quality - although the safari sandwhiches in the morning are pretty basic. That doesn't really matter as there's a full breakfast on your return. You get private tables, which I really like on these safari type things - but can mix at the campfires if you want before dinner. They had small fires at each table as well, given the temperature. The property is in a nice setting, and you should definitely do the walking tour around it if you like birds. Things to improve? Not a huge amount. Our shower only really got lukewarm, but that's probably a time of year thing. Oh and the electric curtains had a mind of their own, ;-) They could maybe do something smarter around guiding in the park, I don't know. It's all government organised, so you end up with random guides (different each drive), who's quality is nothing like what you'd expect if you've been to a quality African safari resort, but I don't think there's much they can do about that. We organised it using the guy they suggested, which took the pain out of scheduling it, but it's still then lucky dip on who you get. We saw a Tiger in zone 2, leopards in 5 (which was empty otherwise!), and lots of birds and a jungle cat in zone 1. You're about a 10 min drive to the park entrance. Bring hats and scarves in January is my top tip!

To be honest we were rather disappointed with our stay at Khem Villas. The meals were vegetarian and whilst they made great effort to cater for my wife, who cannot eat bell peppers and chilli, we found the food somewhat uninspiring and did not live up to expectations. We opted for a standard room in the main building, as we knew we wouldn’t be spending much time between the morning and afternoon drives. The room was fairly basic, but acceptable, towels were rather thin. The staff, however, were fantastic, lighting fires in the lounge and braziers to keep us warm in the dining room and had a permanent smile on their faces.
