Khem Vilas was one of our best holidays ever. We were very apprehensive in the beginning because it served only vegetarian food but the food was truly amazing, especially the lunches. It is not just a hotel, it is the entire experience that made the difference - the location, staff, their attention to detail. Digvijay, the in house naturalist cum photographer, was a a storehouse of information. He took us around the entire place patiently giving us information about the natural habitat through his binoculars. It was lovely to know that the the last hours of the famous Machli was in Khem Vilas. Thanks to the owner Usha and manager Manavendra too for making our stay memorable. The only con was that the wifi was very weak.

Hotel's Favourite
We recently stayed for 3 nights at Khem Villas in the family suite - it consists of 2 bedrooms and a small common lounge. We enjoyed our stay here and will have fond memories of Ranthambore, partly due to this hotel ( and mainly due to our tiger sightings!). Room - very spacious, clean , large bathrooms, wonderful view of the outdoors. However, one room had no wardrobe/ closet space - there was nowhere to put our clothes out and we ended up using the sofa in the room as a dumping ground for our clothes. This I think needs to be sorted out. Food- tasty food with some very yummy desserts. I understand that pre-Covid, lunch was not Indian food. However, at present there is an Indian lunch buffet which we couldnt justify as post safari breakfast is around 10 and the afternoon safari starts at 2.15 which means we needed to have lunch at 1.30 - barely 3 hours after a filling breakfast. I think light salads and such would be a much better option. Staff - everybody we met was polite and the service was great. We especially enjoyed our talks around the campfire with Digvijay, the in house naturalist, who patiently answered our 8 year old's never ending questions. Also, Mahendra, the new ?F&B manager, was very accomodating to our needs, getting hot chocolate for our son in the evenings, fruit salad for lunch when we declared we couldnt possible eat roti/rice and serving my dad a very late breakfast one day on request. The evening campfire was a great time to chat with fellow guests and the property itself is beautiful - starry nights and no honking of horns as it was away from the main road. We had very high expectations after our wonderful safari in South Africa a few years back. And though the game drives did not live upto the standards ( these we booked through the official government website), Khem Villas made up for it. This was our first safari lodge experience in India and I am glad we chose Khem Villas for it.

Khemvillas stitched up a lot of memories for us as a couple. This was our first wildlife stay and boy it was something. As many said, this is the place for the first family of Ranthambore. You can be glued to all the stories here with the staff and Usha R herself. How can you not be amazed when you hear that Machhli breathed her last at the very place. So there are stories and there are stories. Read about all of this in the quaint library they have here. Cant thank enough to the team Manavendra, Harish and several others who care and therefore take care too. We were sceptics of the vegetarian food only scheme of things, but let me tell you that its a food and flavour riot. We city dwellers are so tuned to hybrid veggies that the fresh plucked ones from the backyard taste something so magical. The bookings are limited to the park hence do that in advance. The team there will also help you with the same. The property is also close to the Dastakar center and close to the main park gate. Other than that I would recommend to go for a nature walk in and around the property. Be in the right frame of mind (relaxed, non hurried and idyllic) and you will have memories of the place for a lifetime.

We visited Khem villas in the month of June just before the jungles were about to close for rains. It was an exceptionally amazing trip. The hotel staff was super courteous . The food was very delicious with most of the vegetables grown in the resort itself.. everything was fresh & tasty. The rooms were super clean with beautiful site of a small lake which is within the property. The location of property is amazing with so much of greenery & jungle feel.. we spotted many birds while walking within the resort . Since we were a big family, the hotel arranged for a canter for us to go to the wild life sanctuary . It was an amazing experience as we saw 3 tiger cubs playing with their mother tigress. I would like to especially thank Usha & Govardhan , the resort owners for making this trip memorable for our entire family.

Khem villas has a fantastic location as far as access to the Ranthambore national park goes. The natural setting in which the property is, is very scenic too. The reservation process was seamless and the property manager was accomodating about changes to our holiday plans, which was very much appreciated. The meals provided were homely and it was nice to see a fully vegetarian establishment, although maybe having a mix of cuisines rather than mostly Indian vegetarian would be a good idea. Now comes the rest of our stay, we had booked the family room which was Rs 40,000 a night and when we got to the room, it was extremely disappointing. It was uninviting, the sitting area felt like a waiting area in a doctors clinic with just four chairs and a desk, the bedrooms were roomy but felt more like an average bed and breakfast rather than a luxury establishment. We then shifted to the luxury tents, however they were fairly basic, no luxury whatsoever. At Rs 50,000 a night for two tents I can’t say I felt we got our moneys worth. The property’s wifi connection was appalling. Yes we would all love the luxury of cutting off from the world and enjoying the jungle but unfortunately life today demands being connected with the rest of the world and the hotels wifi connection did not allow for that whatsoever. The plunge pool was a bit of a nothing pool, given the size of the property I am surprised as to why there isn’t a proper pool given there are so many staff to run the show. The two people who made this difference to our stay at this property were Mahindra and Dinesh, they made us feel welcomed and looked after. Thank you to both of you for your hospitality. In short, what the property charges versus what it offers is totally out of sync. There is definitely potential but as it currently stands I would not be recommending it.

Staying at Khemvillas is akin to staying at the heart of the Ranthambore experience- literally the first family of Ranthambore- the gracious Usha and gregarious Govi run the place and you are treated to amazing anecdotes by the fireside, excellent food, stunning property, lingering fragrances of the Mogra, comfortable impeccably maintained rooms and outstanding service

This place is answer to your dream of finding a perfect place to have comfortable stay , best of food and an open ,pleasing and safe place in the midst of wilderness of this area . Located next to the famed Ranthambhore National park it is gem not to be missed . The tents are super luxury with attached bathroom and a covered but airy sit out to view the pleasing outdoors of sprawling the surroundings . The organic produce is used for most meals . Mealtimes are most inviting . We arrived just after 10 am and we’re greeted with offer of beverages . Lunch was a grand vegetarian meal which was mouth watering . The quite sit out overlooking the fields adds to the experience . The staff Is very helpful and hospitable . There is a bar and a large lovely dining area . All meals are included in tariff . There is no room service . Wifi could be better for tents located on the far end . A great experience of staying here .

It is a beautiful property surrounded with stunning foliage. This property was started by the son & daughter in-law of Fateh Singh Rathore - an eminent tiger conservationalist and a former warden of Ranthambore national park who personally showed Bill Clinton & other eminent personlities around the reserve during their visits to Ranthambore. This propoerty was built on a barren piece of land and every aspect of the resort was thoughfully developed to promote sustainability and improve the ecology around the area. The hotel grows most of its food in the farm surrounding the property and sources milk from their own cows. Needless to stay, we felt right in the middle of a jungle with plenty of sightings of unique birds and crocodiles. The walking nature tour of the property is a must and our guide Digvijay patiently showed us around the property, helped us sight many birds and explained the nuances of the different animals. The food offered is delicious (only vegetarian menu) and we were sent off with nice hot blankets and sandwiches for our morning safaris. There is a nice bonfire in the evenings where you can chit chat with other guests with a nice drinks menu and snacks on offer. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ranthambore !

I agree with lot of reviewers about the staff being very respectful and polite, but the entire experience was so not worth the amount paid. A luxury experience is definitely missing and there is a strict adherence to food timings. Was really looking forward to a nice new year eve experience and was super disappointed with the arrangements. Had much better time at 3 other stays (we were on a 8 days road trip) with avg. 1/3rd of the cost paid here.

Horrible experience! There’s no room service at this place and waiters shout instructions at you at buffet. It’s a regimented hostel disguised as a resort where you wake up when they say eat when they say and room service literally just walks into your room after the first knock, to hell with your sleep. There are multiple alligators in the lakes within this property though, if you are into that stuff. One was resting the entire day about 100 m from our cottage.
