Ranthambhore is the world’s finest place to observe tigers in the wild, and SUJÁN Sher Bagh is the ideal base from which to explore this billion-year-old forest, with the mighty citadel that lends its name to the reserve rising majestically at the heart of it. With ruins of palaces, cenotaphs and follies dotted around the jungle, now inhabited by its wild denizens, with the tiger at the apex, it is a spectacular wildlife haven. Sher Bagh, evokes nostalgic sensibilities of life on safari during the heydays of an era celebrated for its art de vivre, living elegantly under canvas, whilst on safari. With crackling campfires under starlit skies, sumptuous Anglo-Indian repasts using homegrown organic produce, coupled with old-world service, the camp epitomises life on safari as it ought to be lived. Crackling campfires under star lit skies, naturalists to share the facts of the forest, it’s a place where comfort, style and an unmatchable commitment to conservation meet. With over 40 years experience, Sher Bagh’s guides and trackers are the best in the business. Their incredible knowledge of the park and the behaviour of its star inhabitant, the tiger, together with their passionate enthusiasm, make a stay here unparalleled.

I enjoyed my short stay at Sujan, where I did 3 drives in Ranthambore over the course of 2 days. The camp itself is quite small: one path along which their 12 tents are lined, a small lobby, a library & dinner area, and a small but nice pool on a decked terrace. At night especially, the camp looks really beautiful. The best thing about Sujan is the tents are excellent. Everything you might want (including AC, a nice shower and a bathtub), decorated with lots of nice touches. The food is also good, although surprisingly I think I slightly preferred having the choice of the lunchtime menu, than the set dinner assortments they bring you (although they were still good). One minor complaint is that when I tried to go for a late swim, the pool was so totally full of insects that it was a bit of a challenge. I noticed that they clean the pool in the mornings, it would be nice if they did again later in the day to make an evening swim a bit more pleasant. I realise they’re deep in nature and having a totally insect-free done is not a realistic or reasonable expectation, so this is a small point. Another small thing is the park drives they booked for me were really ultra expensive - I was kind of shocked by the price, but just went with it since I figured I may not have another chance for a long time. It would’ve been nice if there were an option to go with a group or other guests for less, I don’t think it’s really necessary to do a completely solo drive.

My review is purely on how my experience was conducted with the resort's personnel since I had to cancel my trip due to an extenuating circumstance that happened when I was at the airport. I was totally ready and looking forward to my stay at Sujan and returning to India in general, however a personal issue out of my control led me to cancelling my entire trip quite literally at the airport. Sujan was not my only stay in India, and after explaining my situation to all parties involved, I was able to receive a refund with no question from every other resort/party, BUT Sujan. I understood that lodging is non-refundable and was, at no point, requiring a refund for those fees. I was, however, requesting a refund for the game drives and transfer fees since they were extraneous and had nothing to do with the accommodation fees. Sujan graciously took all of my money whenever we exchanged emails about transactions, but in this manner, they only offered a credit JUST for the accommodation should I want to visit again, and would not compromise on anything else. Nothing on their payment portal (where I paid the game drives and transfer fees) indicated that my payments would be non-refundable, which is why I was requesting just that portion. They have been absent with addressing my matter and have stopped responding entirely. I have no desire to visit a place which touts itself on luxury, experience and community when in reality it's run by fake people who only care about taking your money. I'm also doubtful on the credibility of reviews on Google since many of them are repetitive. Of course, insurance would have been ideal, but then again I never planned on NOT going on this trip -- I am currently sitting on a $5K USD loss at the moment, so just be aware with the kind of people you're dealing with.

Our stay at the Sher Bagh was truly a memorable one. They set a high benchmark for service, food and luxury. Rajendra our butler was exceptional in taking care of our every need, going the extra mile each time. The desserts by Pastry Chef Rajesh were top notch and I particularly loved the tea cakes, cookies and brownies. Looking forward to visiting the property again.

Luxury tented accommodation with every amenity one could wish for . The grounds are beautifully maintained and the public areas (pool and dining rooms) are delightful. Unfailingly attentive staff and of course great drivers and guides to the Tiger reserve. Do let the hotel organise this for you . We heard of others who hired in drivers who were very disappointed. Usually we don’t see whatever the attraction is for a particular , visit however we DID see a Tiger

I went with my boyfriend's family. We are all adults. The service was amazing. All the staff was great. Our butler Raj was the best I have ever experienced. He anticipated our every move. The accommodations were very nice. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a safari type experience.

I stayed with my son (35 yrs) I have been fortunate to stay in some of the very best hotels around the world.I have been in the luxury hotel business and have run a relais et chateau hotel and also a member of the leading hotels of the world.Sher Bagh with out a doubt is THE best hotel I have experienced. The level of service and detail is quite exceptional. EVERY aspect of the operation is impeccably run. I would like to take the opportunity to say a very big thank you to all the team including the guide and driver who managed to get us to see a tiger every game drive. A special mention should also be made about the outstanding kitchen.

Though I am a regular traveler (71 countries visited total, 20 countries in the last year, always stay at 5-star luxury resorts, etc) I’m not a regular TripAdvisor reviewer. I’m not a travel agent, or travel influencer or anything like that—I’m just a regular person but have time to go on vacation regularly and I love exploring new places. So because of that, I am a regular TripAdvisor user and investigate properties, restaurants and tours through user reviews when I plan my trip itineraries to decide what businesses to use. I usually ignore 5-star reviews, and instead read 1 and 2-star reviews: in my humble opinion, if there’s consistency in the complaints, then there’s likely a problem with the business. My husband and I are currently traveling in India, and when I began planning the portion of our trip to Ranthambahore, I was confused to see that Sujan Sher Bagh—a Relais & Chateaux property—had a series of 1-star reviews from March 2022. In fact, I honestly was concerned because the reviews all said the same negative things. Particularly, that guests are made to feel unwelcomed, the chef is unwilling to accommodate all-inclusive guests, and the property discriminated during Covid. However, we are at Sher Bagh camp in Ranthambahore *right now* (15 March 2023) and I feel compelled to comment that any negative review claiming that about this property is simply malicious and untrue. The grounds, property, team, service, food, amenities, atmosphere, privacy and hospitality are beyond exceptional. My husband and I are here for three days: from the moment of our arrival, we have been treated with nothing but the warmest graciousness. We are staying in a royal tent with a private pool and outdoor bathroom, and every touch is personalized and exquisite. Despite organizing our own safaris privately, Sher Bagh nonetheless arranged our safari camp picnic of snacks, coffee and tea and provided all outside service we needed for our safari excursions; the service they provided was so good for a non-hotel experience that we are going to try Sher Bagh’s safari experience separately tomorrow. I do not like hot spicy food; the chef not only cooks sophisticated classic Indian style (mild and delicious, not excessively spicy)—but also if a guest cannot tolerate any spices, can accommodate with delicious mildly seasoned entrees at each meal sitting. The atmosphere is built into the wilderness by design, and is meant to be nurturing, relaxing and meditative while giving an authentic experience in the tiger park— it is far from boring, but if there’s more a guest would like to do than safaris and relaxation, there’s lots of other activities that the team can help to arrange. Finally, not only is a majority of the team locals but likewise during Covid they employed local female artisans for the restoration work and 100% of all the staff kept their jobs despite travel industry slow down! Ignore the misleading reviews. The Sujan Sher Bagh is world class for a reason, and it has provided us some of the best and most impressive service we’ve had anywhere in the world.

The very recently completely renovated Sujan Sher Bagh is a luxurious safari tent-camp with a perfect balance of rustic feel with 5-star amenities, food, and service. The tents are very private and safe fixed-site structures with tent canopy that offer spacious suites with modern, comfortable bathrooms. Divya Sharma, the hotel duty manager, welcomed us with warm, relaxed first-class service and was helpful throughout our stay in organizing spa appointments between safaris and providing a history of the property. She and the rest of the team provided outstanding and friendly service around all aspects of the experience. Sher Bagh prepared superb cuisine with a unique dining ambiance around campfires and outdoor decks with hundreds of lanterns. The pre-dinner cocktails around the campfire fostered connecting with other guests through a relaxed but engaging community dynamic. Sher Bagh was the perfect balance of feeling embedded in the forest and having a world-class experience!

Sher Bagh! A huge huge shout out to their hospitality and warmth! This place is for those who are true wildlife enthusiasts. It is also for those who want to experience “real wilderness in a luxurious hamlet!” I came her with my 16 months old and 8years old niece. And the way they have taken care of us and the kids in terms of safety, food and most importantly wide smiles- it’s incomparable. We have been to many lodges and hotels in other national parks- but there is only one like this which gives you an authentic vibe of a luxurious lodge like you see in Africa. Top highlights- different settings for dinner, presentation, fabulous tiger paintings, amazing cocktails, warm blankets during the game drive. But the biggest highlight is the people who are running this place- not as employees but as passionate personnel who are well read, know their jungle, and know how to make their guests feel worth of what they pay to be here.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms are lovely and in theme of the Safari. They are serviced 3 times a day which is great. The details of preparing hot water bottles in the bed really adds to the stay. The staff are all lovely and hard working, they make the experience special. I would recommend coming for 2 nights only and ideally adults only as there’s not much to do other than the drives. We got very lucky seeing Tigers on our afternoon drive but it’s certainly not a given. If you want a real safari with a variety of animals, Africa is your place. The food was tasty and they catered to our intolerances/ allergies. Overall a really enjoyable experience!
