The pampering began as soon as we entered the hotel and continued until we departed. What more could we have asked for? In fact, it was way beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
Although our safaris were not booked through the hotel, we were seen off most courteously and sent off with a hygiene kit and an ice box with water and juice.
The food of course was exemplary and chef Saurabh and the F&B team were just too accommodating and caring. In our many travels and several luxury stays we haven't been met with such warmth, hospitality and care.
The naturalist, Sachin, stayed back to take me to the observatory for some astrophotography. Such a warm gesture that deserves a special mention.
Of course, the tent/ room was fantastic and serviced several times a day. We loved relaxing in the area abutting our tent.
We carry such lovely memories and gifts from you that this stay shall forever remain etched in our minds.
Albeit luxury may be limitless, you have raised the bar and I would tag "Vanyavilas" as the last word in luxury.
P.S: Fantastic sighting and safaris were an icing on the cake ;)
On our first evening one of the guides gave anyone interested a talk on Tigers, this covered all types from all over the world, I found it very interesting indeed and an added extra to get the juices flowing for what we hoped would be a successful day the next day
The rooms are exceptional, every single thing was thought about, they even provide 'extra' amenities in the bathroom, like nail varnish remover and talc.
The hot water bottle in the bed was also a lovely treat in the evening as it was still chilly when we were there. the towel made of an elephant greeted us on arrival together with the beautiful flowers made of tiger paws.
Dinner and Breakfast were also excellent.
all the staff were welcoming and friendly with a great attitude to service but I would like to point out one member that we both thought was exceptional Anirud.
final mention has to be for Lashmi, the hotel elephant who has quarters with the rest of the hotel staff, she was rescued from a circus and has lived at the hotel for 20 years, wonderful experience to be so close to such lovely animals and for her to greet us when we came back from the safari.
all in all the most amazing experience and will definitely return.
Finally I want to add that I love the 'Oberoi' policy on tipping, always a stress to carry enough smaller notes around but at the Oberoi they have a policy that you leave your tips on check out. I even tried to give some staff tips where we received exceptional service but they refused and reminded us of the policy, so much easier I just hope that everyone does remember this at check out!
The GM of the property Ratna Malhotra was such a down to earth humble lady. She herself was checking on the comfort of the guests. Took personal interest by checking on the guests.
Our 3 yr old had Bathroom slippers, Bathrobe and some special welcome notes and that made us feel really special.
The only drawback we felt was the rates are on a higher side and mght not be afforded by all.
Over all our stay was worth remembering for our life time.
The hotel itself is amazing. Each room is designed like a tent. My daughter loved how it looked. The noise of the rain falling on the tented roof, along with the sounds of nature surrounding us was so relaxing. The rooms were spacious, so comfortable and the bathroom design and layout really nice. Everything impeccably clean. A lovely touch was the child size robe and slippers for my daughter to use. She was delighted with that.
The rooms are a nice stroll from the main hotel building, or you can be brought in the golf buggy if you prefer.
Food was delicious, plenty of choice and any requests we had were no issue. The children enjoyed tent building and roasting marshmallows, there were great activities organised for the children.
I also used the babysitter (Tshering and Kinley) on two occasions for my 5 month old and both times they were reliable and excellent with my daughter.
I would highly recommend a stay here. It is ideally located to go on safari trips, and there is plenty to enjoy around the hotel grounds itself. A climb to the top of the observation tower is worthwhile for a fantstic view. This hotel is a slice of luxury in the middle of beautiful forests. I would happily have stayed 2 more nights if time allowed. We will most definitely return here again.
Property: 5 on 5 stars -
The property is beautiful. And the tents are luxurious. Housekeeping is also very good.
Service: 5 on 5 stars -
The service was top notch and the best in any of the luxury resorts in have stayed at to date. The staff was attentive and proactive to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
Food and beverage: 5 on 5 stars
I hesitate to give 5 stars one food and beverages but I felt Vanyavilas has got an elaborate enough menu to keep you interested if you are staying for 3 nights (as we did) . The chef was happy to accommodate our requests for our toddler and there was no fuss or delay in meeting any special requirements/requests. I must mention their unique drinks menu where they had signature cocktails made using herbs from their on-property herb garden. I would highly recommend them.
Safari: 5 on 5 stars
Although expensive, we managed to spot 6 tigers and the guide and driver were both attentive and knew what they were doing and their way around the park. Also, we were booked to visit the best zones in the park which was one of the reasons I believe we got to spot tigers. The resort was also happy to pack some meals and refreshments for us.
Elephant experience: 5 on 5 stars
The property has a pet elephant named Lakshmi. You can meet the elephant daily at a specific time where you can feed her. Very entertaining for toddlers. They also have an optional elephant experience where they allow you to wash the elephant. Would recommend if you have small children who may be interested otherwise you can do with the daily feeding routine.
Rathambore fort: 5 on 5 stars
Spa treatment: 4 on 5 stars
The spa ambiance is nice and the treatment is as would be expected for the price.
Visit to Chambal: 3 on 5 stars
Was very hot when we visited. so would pass unless you are visiting when it’s cooler. We did see some crocodiles and one Ghariyal from a distance.
I would also like to give special thanks to the staff members who took the extra effort to ensure we made memories during our stay at Vanyavilas: Faiz, Rahul, Shrishti, and Utkarsh.
