A beautiful 14th century fort, sensitively converted to become a Six Senses sanctuary of well-being. Originally owned by the Rajasthani Royal Family, it faces the Chauth ka Barwara Mandir temple. The significant conservation effort incorporates a palace and two temples within the walled fort. The design reinterprets the gracious and regal ambience of a bygone era dating back 700 years.

The Six Senses Fort Barwara Hotel skilfully combines tradition, modernity and sustainability. The old fort has been restored and stylishly expanded. Local ingredients are used for the culinary highlights in the restaurants. And sustainability continues. No branded water is purchased, but high-quality water is produced in-house, which guests can drink for free. Oil from the impressive spa is recycled and made into candles. And workshops teach how to make things like lip balm, soap or anti-mosquito spray yourself using natural ingredients.

The staff is very attentive. We were always addressed by name, we were never asked for our room number, they already knew it. Your wishes are practically read from your lips.

A really great experience at the Six Senses Fort Barwara Hotel. Sustainability is lived and taught here.

Six Senses Fort Barwara was an amazing experience. This accommodation stays unforgettable because of its palace-like luxury mixed with Indian culture. What really made this experience special is the staff who made sure we were comfortable and had a good time all through our stay.

Our restaurant experience was excellently handled by Govardhan ji, also known as Gordan and Vaibhav. Our meals became tastier with Gordan serving them and telling us information about the resort, through which he added some flavor on it. Vaibhav Chaudhary’s great smile got us to taste best cocktails while making outstanding efforts in improving how our dining went.

Prince has to be appreciated for his role in the dining part of it all. His contagious smile and keenness ensured that we always settled for good food. His personal touch could be felt in every meal we sampled.
Congratulations to Mr. Hemant Kumar the restaurant manager as his team is excellant at their work.
No one equals Six Senses Fort Barwara when it comes to hospitality service delivery. The credit goes to Tapas ji, who effectively managed housekeeping services for us, maintaining high standards at all times. He saw to it that our stay was clean, fabulous and super comfy.

Jitendra Verma should also be mentioned here too; he did his job very well ensuring we received everything on time as per our wishes while dining.

There are probably some names I left out but all the staff were excellent, always there when you needed assistance and gave you a warm welcome wherever they met you.

The welcome and the property was fantabulous! The check in was very smooth and we were assigned a GEM to help us all that we needed as a family- Ganesh our GEM was truly a gem. He helped us throughout our stay and was very responsive. I cannot say the same about the restaurants.
The hotel had an amazing Christmas vibe and very very creative sustainable decor which I am highly impressed by.
The turnover service does not exist- the lil chocolate on ur pillow- noooo!

We got some meals packed for our safari- the food was packed in flimsy packets, however the boxes were eco- packaging. Also the meals were packed to share which was very difficult while eating in a safari jeep. The first day they even missed giving water and tea- the property is far from the safari zones and nothing is available outside the zone. We went 3-4 hrs without water. Though this was corrected on the next meal. We have done a lot of safaris earlier and have had food packed in proper baskets- these packets got filled with dirt while kept under the car seat since it was a dry season. This came as a surprise and being a luxury hotel in a prime safari area I expect better.

The breakfast was very average. There was no local specialty cuisine in the buffet. I feel the food was extremely average. And the service was even worse. After a few complaints they did a great job the day we were to check out.

We also planned a destination dining- at the poolside venue- while promised a set course menu- we were served portions a la carte style. Not very happy again- the set up was private and beautiful but the food took forever and by the time it arrived we were just not in the mood to eat.

We preordered some local dishes - but somehow they miss the point- being from Rajasthan myself I know bajra khichdi is served with gud and makhkhan as accompaniments. The khichdi came and the makhkhan n gud took forever - so the khichdi went cold.

In fact the room service seems to be better than the restaurant service. Half the time the staff has no idea about what’s going on - they don’t seem to be well versed and seemed very new- any question was answered with - let me ask n tell you. And asking and telling will take 15-20 min mind you.

All in all there were some staff members who really tried hard- rio , anjali & anup were a pleasure- ( though they all seemed new)

Have to mention Gaurav ( ex-Oberoi) - u can always tell- he kept us insanely entertained throughout our poolside dinner with his jokes and stories from Ramayana- while we endlessly waited for food to arrive.

The hotel really needs to work on their dessert menu- liked nothing except the triple chocolate brownie.
Being a top notch name I expected better from six senses. While I was overwhelmed with the property location and ambience I was highly disappointed in its food and service.

Dear varshu82, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on your experience with us. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the fort's architecture, smooth check-in, and festivities. I am glad to see Ganesh, Rio, Anjali, Anup, and Gaurav being mentioned for their hospitality. However, I am sorry to hear of the shortcomings you faced regarding the food and service. I appreciate your feedback on the safari meal packaging. The outsourced safari arrangements influenced this setup, but we will work on improving it for greater convenience. I have also addressed the service delays and inconsistencies with my team to ensure an improved guest experience. Once again, I am sorry for the inconvenience you faced, and I appreciate your comments. I hope to welcome you back for a more seamless stay with us on your next visit. Our recent stay at the Six Senses Fort Barwara was the highlight of our holiday. This magical place in a remote part of Rajasthan, was such a wonderful surprise and it's hats off to it's creators. The restoration of a ?700 year old fort in disrepair, to the current exquisite, sprawling and ultra comfortable hotel has been done with phenomenal sympathy and great character. The suites are ultra comfortable with great attention to detail and world class, high end fitments and that includes the toilets! The staff are courteous, without being overbearing and the food scrumptious. We enjoyed swimming in the 'tunnel' and the local artisans were a hit with our grandkids. This review would be incomplete without mentioning the special care that we received from Shri Govardhanji, a smiling real life 'Krishna', in the restaurant who went above and beyond to ensure we and, in particular, our grandchildren were well fed and got to taste all the local delicacies. Our GEM, Ms Sarika was a real 'gem' and took care of all our arrangements. Overall, a lovely experience and I'm sure a lasting memory.

A Magical Stay at Six Senses Fort Barwara

I am absolutely thrilled and grateful for the unforgettable experience my husband and I had at this extraordinary place. The staff here is simply the best—every single person we encountered was incredibly friendly, attentive, and warm. They’re not just professionals but truly kind and fascinating individuals who made our stay even more special.
Six Senses Fort Barwara feels like a dream—its rare beauty is beyond words and leaves you in awe. I’ve stayed at many hotels before, but this one stands out as something truly exceptional. Its stunning aesthetics and the unique atmosphere make it a place you’ll never want to leave. In fact, I believe the whole world deserves to know about this magical destination.
The culinary experience was another highlight. The flavors were extraordinary—whether sweet or savory, everything was so distinct yet comforting, like a taste of home in the most refined way. It’s impossible to grow tired of the food here.
Though I didn’t have time to explore the many activities, I can say with certainty that this place offers everything a person needs for spiritual peace and physical well-being.
A special mention goes to Atik, Nafisa, Saniya, and Sayantani—your care and attention left a lasting impression, but it wasn’t just them. Every single staff member deserves immense praise for making this experience unforgettable.

Thank you for creating such a magical place—I already can’t wait to return.

I want to share with you our amazing experience at Six Senses Fort Barwara. It will not be wrong to say that the staff are the most hospital people. They are filled with love, compassion, respect, discipline and astuteness. As you interact with them, you will experience compassion in the purest forms. I would like to mention a few of the staff who displayed exemplary performance. I’d like to start off with your GEM, Vishmbher. Vish made sure all of our needs were met WHATEVER they were. He is exceptional at what he does and was the one responsible for making our stay as lovely as it was. I am sure he will go very far in his career. Chef Charul went way above my expectations to accommodate my special food needs and would even serve me my food personally. Chandrima, our food and beverage server always served us with a smile. Mansi, the housekeeper was exceptional and made me feel like a queen for my birthday. I would come back to our room with something special set up like a bubble bath, fresh local flowers picked and happy birthday signs spelled out in rice for sustainability. On the last day, she surprised us with a local tradition string puppet that is well known for folk art. Unfortunately I forgot the name of the young gentlemen who assisted the servers and set up our dinner table one evening with beautiful birthday decorations from the local garden for my birthday. It was SO beautiful.

So, needless to say, you will never forget the staff you meet at Fort Barwara, for they are exceptional.

This is a “SIX” star experience!

I have just come back from Six Senses after bringing in New Year, while leaving the property I somehow felt I was leaving my home, that’s the feeling you get maybe it’s each to it’s own but the immaculate beauty of the property the calmness the serene surroundings just did some magic and not to forget the staff is just like a family getting personal attention and listening to your needs 24/7 is unforgettable, I already feel like going back.

However I think Six Sense also has a scope of improvement in terms of F&B although it’s good and they try to source everything locally and think sustainable so maybe not too many varieties but I still feel they can do better esp Breakfast!

Last but the not the least hats off to them for being completely plastic free, you won’t find an inch of plastic unless you leave your own, it’s just not their policy that’s what I loved, their fundamental of being sustainable and organic in their approach really blew my mind, Good Job there

All in all It’s a must Visit!

After waiting for years, finally got to try the much anticipated eco-minded Six Senses Fort Barwara, restored over ten years.

The hotel is a fairy tale of mahals and turrets, contemporary with Rajasthani aesthetics, my room came with Toto style heated Kohler toilets, gigantic square stone bath (I preferred the courtyard showers under a starlit sky), outdoor patio with a swing chair. I was in the east wing (room 222) overlooking the mataji ka talab lake and chauth mata temple. Of the entire hotel, I loved the zenana mahal most, and especially the Bhutanese massage in one of the 14th century rooms.

Dining caters to a variety of diets, with wholesome, fresh seasonal produce largely sourced locally (including their own gardens). I am normally on a pescatarian diet but ordered their knock out laal maas two dinners in a row. My lunches were at the Arabic Rani Bagh restaurant, next to their gorgeous pool.

This is my 8th Six Senses hotel and I really like the company’s forte & impact, including the rewilding projects around the hotel, showcasing the local communities’ food, craft and culture, water treatment, avoiding plastics etc.

As expected, service was superb, you can WhatsApp with your own “guest experience maker”, my GEM was Rohit Tyagi, super helpful and responsive.

For excursions, Ranthambore park is only an hour away but I had zero desire to leave my surreal cocoon.
