Stayed at Fateh’s Retreat for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Wish we could have extended another day. Will definitely be back again. Location: In one word-Tranquil. The hotel is located at the foot of the Aravali mountain ranges with a beautiful landscaped garden and an infinity pool overlooking the Ranthambore forest. Lounge chairs alongside the pool allowed us to rest and also enjoy the evening settling of the many birds. The most common are the Rufous Treepie, Indian Chat, Bulbuls, Plum Headed Parakeet, Yellow Footed Green Pigeon and the noisy Babblers. Peacocks/hens also freely roam around the property. Rooms: Large, spacious with high ceilings. The bed is super comfortable and the linen warm and cozy. Pillows were a bit too soft for our liking (personal preference). The rooms on the 1st floor open onto a nice balcony overlooking the garden and pool. The bathroom was again spacious with a shower area separating the washing area/commode. The bathroom has a large screen window with a one way glass looking out onto the garden which is beautiful. Do remember to draw the screen down after dark as one can otherwise see in - you will be instructed during check-in. Basic amenities such as shower cap, shampoo, conditioner & body lotion are provided. Service: Excellent. Mr Nidhan took very good care of us and attended to our every need including a last minute safari reservation. The rest of the staff are polite and helpful and kept our room clean as soon as we stepped out. The owner Ms Usha made us feel at home and we enjoyed our chats with her about the surrounding area. Food: Simple and delicious. Pure homemade food made with local ingredients sourced from their farm at Kheem Villa. Paneer, Palak, Fruits, Yogurt, Salads & Cows Milk. I miss their hot mini Phulkas which were just the right size for me! They do an awesome Breakfast Museli with White Til (Sesame Seed) - don’t miss it. Thank you Ms Usha, Nidhan and team for making our stay so memorable.

A quiet, well laid out 5 room Homestay- just the place for a mind and soul recharge. A cosy dining area where the chef serves a wholesome meal every time. The room is a place where you meet interesting Co-travellers. The staff is attentive and responsive but don’t lose sight of it being a Homestay. YSR has given a superb Mesh WiFi coverage in any place be it lazing in the infinity pool or your room. Let the silence nourish your mind. Usha ji will amaze you with her subtle and understated oversight. Don’t forget to pay homage to Shri Fateh Singh whose vision and endeavour created and nurtured the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. His spirit guides this beautiful facility.

We travelled with our family with 2 children (7 yr/10 yr), wife and mother. The stay was perfect for our needs. Given we have kids with us and my mother (68 yrs) who needs nothing but home made meals, we could not have asked for anything else. The property was clean, beautiful and very well maintained. The staff accommodated most of request with a smile. The resident family (Usha Rathode) was always around to make sure that things are in order and taking care of the guest. The host family has a deep legacy in wildlife conservation and tiger protection (Late Fateh Singh Rathod's family) that makes this place even more interesting. Overall a great stay and we would recommend for families who love home made meals.

Covid 19 has changed the way people travel for business or leisure. Instead of hotels, home stays are becoming the preferred choice of accommodation. That is because their small size ensures safety, hygiene and maintenance. Here you marry the certainty of a 5 star hotel with the warmth and privacy of a home stay. Hence we zeroed in on a 5 bedroom resort, tucked amidst the Aravalli Ranges at the edge of the Ranthambore National Park, known as Fateh’s Retreat. The 5 rooms give it an air of exclusivity, comfort with conveniences as also a cosy, homely feel. If you occupy any of the 4 rooms on the top floor, then you wake up to undisturbed beauty of the hills and forest and of calm, as you step out on your balcony. The infinity plunge pool beckons as it borders the end of the property , sometimes with dancing peacocks in attendance. Modern amenities provided for in the bathrooms. And the pressure from the water taps is awesome. Sensibly, no TV at all. As no electric kettles have been provided for, the staff wakes you up happily at whatever time you so desire with a hot beverage of your choice accompanied by cookies. Primarily a vegetarian home stay, dishing out tasty vegetarian meals, the owner, Usha Rathore, is not averse to non-vegetarian food being cooked in the kitchen. The dining room, Jogi Mahal, doubles up as a cosy place in the winter months as a wood, smokeless fire, keeps the place warm as you sit on the comfortable chairs arranged around it. Fateh’s Retreat does not have a liquor licence. The lawns were used by us for al fresco dining. Breakfast and dinners were mostly eaten outdoors. Memorable evenings were spent by the pool side with burning fires while we barbecued, ate, drank and danced. The hot topic of conversation was always the exchange of notes of our wildlife sightings on our safaris inside the national park. Since we were celebrating a special occasion, the staff, one night, organized a well-planned dinner at a level below the pool and adjoining the forest. Fires had been lit to keep the cold at bay. But alas, it also kept any wild animals nearby, if at all, out of sight and sound as well. The amla (Indian gooseberry) orchard, which at this time was laden with fruits at plucking distance, is your natural supplier of vitamin C. Usha suggested a boat safari down the Chambal river in her private motor boat to see the ever endangered ghariyals. More so, than even the tigers. We had to undertake an hour’s drive to reach Pali, 38 km’s away. The one hour ride was well worth it as we got to see a number of the cold blooded creatures basking on the banks, in the warm sunshine. The long snout female ghariyals get no competition from the short, round, snout of the males, in terms of size. Lunch had been organized for us as well, which was a thoughtful thing to do. The boat accommodates 4 to 6 and the cost varies accordingly. If you are more than the mentioned number, then you wait for an hour for your turn. The staff is courteous and helpful. Nidan, the leader of the pack, makes sure all your wishes are fulfilled and demands met with. Usha is always around to enquire about one’s welfare, to offer suggestions and to give helpful advice. There is free wi-fi and parking too.

We had a fabulous all round experience at staying at Fatah’s Retreat. This family run business has it all; an inspirational past, contemporary decor and amazing hospitality. The owner, Usha Rathore, was lovely and made sure we wanted for nothing. Dilip, our host, was really attentive, as were the other employees. We took a guided tour of Rathambore Fort with Nidhan, the resort driver, which we would highly recommend. If we were ever to come back to India this is the one place we’d come back to. We spent three nights at Fateh's Retreat. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and modern amenities in our room, especially the vaulted ceiling and great water pressure in the shower! We saw peacocks and monkeys on the grounds as well. Usha Rathore, our hostess, was beyond helpful. She had us privately driven to her other resort, Khem Villas, every night for a buffet dinner. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire there chatting with staff and guests. We also enjoyed the gift shop and wonderful service therein. In addition to multiple tiger safaris, we took advantage of Usha's own private boat for a river cruise to see gharial crocodiles! Our wonderful driver throughout our stay was Nidhan. He drove us from Sawai Madhopur to Jaipur as well. Usha's hospitality was exceptional, and all of the staff were very well trained. We highly recommend a visit!
