this review is a package of two, one is for the owner of this property and the other is for the staff who are actually maintaining and you will be facing them
the very first impression when I entered the hotel : did I booked rooms from an agent? but no I had a word with owner itself who had booked two rooms for me for 6 persons,4 Major adults and 2 minor - to my surprise when I reach the hotel's front office they told me that they had information of only for four occupants. I payed extra for those two occupants, even after getting quote on the basis of 6 occupants. I don't know where was the miscommunication but to my best knowledge I made the owner very clear that we are 6 ( 4 and 2 ). before booking the room I asked whether it is a veg or non veg I was told it's non veg, on this issue also I had to convince the hotel staff that I had booked this hotel only because you are serving non-veg meals also. I asked the owner how far is the fort? Got answer that takes only 10 min to reach fort. But smartly missed the word DRIVE after 10 minutes.
F.Y.I, fort ticket window is almost 6km away. Terrain is curvy road in mountains. Road condition: poor.
the very first impression was that I was cheated and had to pay extra amount even after getting the final quote of X amount.
Through the photographs you might get an illusion that it's resort but I didn't find any thing which can put it into a resort's category. For me its hotel only
the next part is for staff. these three star rating is given only for the efforts of the staff.
Mr Tarun Sharma, Chef Kalu, Mr. Bansi Lal, Mr Yogesh Yadav, manager restaurent all are always ready to move an extra mile to serve the guest. I really appreciate this team. They are really working hard to satisfy guests, specialy those who got cheated by owner.
now let's come to the property, it's a nicely built good looking property but rooms are equipped with old / jammed furniture.
so it's all up to you what sort of experience you will face
At end special thanks to Mr Tarun Sharma, Chef Kalu, Mr. Bansi Lal, Mr Yogesh Yadav, manager restaurent and all those who were behind the curtain to serve us. Specially Mr. Chef and restaurant manager who respected our request to serve some traditional Rajasthani food with local traditional taste.
In my advise, if you book rooms in this hotel, check for this staff and get the rooms booked by some travel agent, rather than booking directly from the owner.

We fell in love with the property the moment we entered it. A very beautiful, serene & earthy feel to it with the panoramic lake and hill view. Neatly manicured lawns, a small but clean pool by the lake, open-air/ semi-open restaurant, an interesting layout at various levels, so many lovely things to talk about. The rooms are large & very tastefully done with huge spacious bathrooms. The entire property is very well-maintained and sparkling clean. Also, they serve such great a la carte food with generous portion size in the restaurant, we had all our meals there. All the staff is amazing and is a pleasure to interact with. We just felt the breakfast can be a tad better. We enjoyed our stay there so much that we extended it by a day. Every time we visit Kumbhalgarh, we know this is the place where we will be staying!

It was a pleasant stay. Ambience was really good. Outside view from the hotel was also good. Hotel staff was really nice and polite. Rooms were spacious and well maintained. The only downside was there was no network for pretty much all network service provider and the hotel did not had the wifi available.

Only good about the resort was location but every resort in Kumbhalgarh has unique location surrounded by lush forest. We booked 2 rooms one was with jacuzzi and other was simple. But as we entered the rooms bathrooms were not so clean also no basic travel kit like paste and towels were there. Room service was pathetic and to our surprise we found three big size frogs in our room(service boy told they are coming from pipe below jacuzzi). So don't ever try to book jacuzzi room. Also pool is very small cannot accomodate more than 5 people, if some family is already using it you have to wait

Resort service is worst. We had stayed in king size room but actual bed provided was queen size with two mattress joined and that too uneven. No solution after multiple follow up with Manager Tarun. Me and my family kind of mesmerised with this beautiful, serene resort - Forest Retreat.. This is my fourth trip to Kumbalgarh and stay @ Forest Retreat!!! So nicely located - river view and surrounded by forest, spacious & well articulated cottages, curteous and ever helping staff, delicious and hygiene food makes the resort undoubtedly one of the best in Kumbalgarh. We stayed there for 2 days. Front office staff needs to be more humble and cooperative. Room condition was terrible. Door had a gap and we could listen wind noise in winter night. We found ant and spiders on bed and floor. Not recommended specially if you are travelling with infant.
Only good thing was customer service from restaurant staff and complimentary breakfast.

1. Bad Roads leading to the hotel 2. No proper and sufficient parking space 3. Bathrooms not clean and tiles had stains 4. Basic travel kits like dental kit etc not provided 5. There are lot of hotels overlooking lake n mountains in this area. This one definitely had a good ambience. Good food, staff was helpful Sheets were not clean in a otherwise decent room.. which is a must in these times and reason for 3 star. We booked 2 rooms and both had this issue
Note : This might seem city people nagging amidst nature issue :D but Jio doesn't have any signal in this area.. and if your room is further away from reception, you won't get wifi either. So try to get rooms closer to reception
