We had a brief but delightful experience staying at Indrashan, which was strongly recommended by a friend. Hosts are erudite, well traveled and very sophisticated in their behaviour. It was a delight to have dining table conversations with them. Breakfast was always full of options, both English and Indian. Egg, toast, coffee served hot, as it should be. Dinner was awesome too. Auntie takes special care herself to ensure meals are cooked well and served even better. Our room was a large one with traditional furniture, clean linen. Also spare pillows and duvets was stocked up in the almirah, something which I found very thoughtful. Their attention to detail is great and it clearly shows they enjoy hosting. There were water bottles in our room when we arrived, a kettle to boil water and make tea ourselves. Though coffee was always a Beck and a call away. A little porch sitout area was great to read book with a cup of tea. Their garden is lovely too. I loved strolling through their lovely green patch. The entire home is tastefully decorated, with no TV, which was a great relief. Staying here was like time travel for us, taking us back to 80s when educated people had conversations at dinner table. I would definitely want to stay again.

I had a very cosy room right at the entrance to main part of the house. There is a bonfire place, and guests normally sit around in the evenings and chat - really nice experience as you meet people from different countries. Food is delicious! Owners are the best. If I ever visi Jodhpur I woud stay there. By the way some people stay there for weeks while working in the city. A little off topic: there is a very famous place where you can drink special Masala tea. All the city comes there. Ask where is it and go and try.)

We met Chandrashekar uncle and Bhavna aunty a few years ago when they helped us put together a marvellous itinerary for our road trip through Rajasthan. When we were visiting Jodhpur this week for a music festival, we were very sure where we wanted to stay. Indrashan it had to be even though it was not close to the venue. Why? Because why would you stay anywhere else when you have Indrashan? Amazing food served at their lovely home (super clean rooms with some old hand painted furniture) and the complete warmth and trust they shower you with are good reasons no? And if that isn’t enough, get some cooking demos or do a food trail with their son. Or simply put your feet up and curl up with one of the many books that line the shelves. Or sit in the courtyard and indulge in some wholesome conversation with the hosts and other guests. Indrashan just lets you be. And that’s a big deal.

Thank you Bhavna and Chandra for such a welcoming homestay experience. We loved our stay at Indrashan and stayed for 6 nights rather than the 3 we originally intended. Our room above the garage was beautiful and we really enjoyed our evenings sitting around the fire before eating wonderful home cooked food! So good we had dinner every evening of our stay and also enjoyed a picnic breakfast for our train journey to Jaipur. Bhavna and Chandra also helped us by organising a driver for our sightseeing, booking a village jeep tour and booking our onward train. If you are looking for a homestay experience we would highly recommend Bhavna and Chandra and their lovely home.

I stayed at Indrashan for 10 days. I initially stayed 3 nights with the NGO I work with and extended multiple times for personal time in the great city of Jodhpur. I didn’t intend to stay in Jodhpur this long, however, the hospitality, coziness, AMAZING food, and fellow travelers I met and connected with over meals and the fire overnight was just darn special. It is spotless, a traditional Indian haveli (home), and Bhavna and Chandra (owners), and their incredible staff are just really something. They are not only delightful human beings, they are a wealth of knowledge on many topics, well traveled themselves, very well-networked and will point you to all the hidden and off-the-beaten path gems. You name it, they know it. Best bakery, best bangles, best food, temples, sites, doctors, etc. This homestay is better than most “attractions”. After I left them to go to Udaipur I was unfortunately bitten by a dog there and had a really terribly government hospital experience. I called on them and they referred me to a private doctor in Udaipur within an hour. It saved me. They saved me. Anyway, this place is amazing and I can’t recommend it enough. One more note on the food... Bhavna’s cooking is otherworldly :) breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all fabulous. Veg and non-veg options and they are very accommodating. One fail was not taking a cooking class which I will come back to Jodhpur to do because she’s that good! Until we meet again, Indrashan :)
