Bijolai Palace is one of the oldest palaces in Jodhpur built in 1859 by Maharaja Takhat Singh as his summer residence and has been declared a heritage property by INTACH. The present Maharaja of Jodhpur-Marwar, His Highness Gaj Singh II gifted the Bijolai Palace in 2004 to Jal Bhagirathi Foundation (JBF). The property was completely restored and opened to guests. Income from Bijolai Palace is utilised by JBF to provide drinking water to the communities of Thar desert. Bijolai Palace meets all of its water requirement through a unique method of rainwater harvesting.
