I spent 2 days and a night at Fort Side to see if it really can live up to the rave reviews. And I must say.. this hotel is as incredible as they say. Mr Aladdin is like an old friend I have never met before. He is welcoming and very friendly. My room was right at the top. It was clean and spacious, and has a large bathroom with lots of hot water. The pleasant surprise was that the room came with a plush, white and large towel that smelled of the desert sun. I just wished there was a mirror somewhere in the bathroom. Fort Side has plenty of communal areas for relaxed lounging. I love the lounge on the same rooftop level. It was a very comfortable and colouful area for quiet contemplation, surfing, or chatting with other guests. And the view of the Fort was superbly magnificent and close. The surroundings are quiet and rustic, and yet it is a short 15 min walk to the First Gate of the fort. At the price I paid, this place must be the best value in all of Jaisalmer!

We had a lovely stay here! Aladdin was a brilliant host, in fact all the staff were fantastic. There is a great view of the fort from the rooftop, which is a nice chill out area. Through the hostel you can book the desert camel safari with Nanu, definitely do this! It was one of the highlights of the trip and an incredible experience!

We booked a great room with a huge double bed and very clean bathroom with hot water showers. It was one of the best value places we stayed in! The owner, Aladdin is awesome, and encouraged us to hang out and have a good time. As indicated, the hotel is fortside, not IN the fort, and I would argue that this is actually nicer as you have a great view of the fort from the rooftop at all times. Aladdin served up a delicious breakfast for us in the morning and had chai on hand at all times. He also organized our camel safari at a lower price than I was able to find anywhere else in town and we REALLY enjoyed it! Definitely recommend, but wouldn't be surprised if his rates start to go up soon with all the good feedback, we really felt like we got an AMAZING deal!

Hotel Fort Side is a nice budget accommodation 180° around from the fort entrance. The rooms are simple but good, the common areas are very nice and the tea is great. We chatted with some interesting other travelers here.
The one thing that REALLY bummed me out was the manager making a pass at me. (Note: we are two, single, American women.)
When I went to register our stay he came around the desk and squeezed on the bench next to me. I'm a New Yorker and used to being squashed against others so I didn't immediately recognize this for flirtation. After the registration was complete he took me on a tour, showing me other rooms. In each doorway he tried to stand very close so his body was touching me but I kept moving away and backed out of the rooms quickly. When he tried to show me the basement I'd had enough of this and went back to where my friend was reading.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms are very noisy, so opt for a lower floor.

The staff at fort side were extremely helpful and friendly, would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Jaisalmer. The rooms were clean and spacious and there was a great rooftop terrace overlooking the fort. The location is ideal as it is only a 10 minute walk to the fort and city centre, with lots of good restaurants nearby.

Hostel Fort Side turned out to be quite a delight despite my apprehensions in the beginning. The owner, Mr. Aladdin, came to welcome us personally at the bus stop. The rooms are clean and homely, the staff friendly and the rooftop terrace gives you a majestic view of Jaisalmer Fort. The location is just perfect for all the tourist attractions are within walking distance.

I want to thank Mr. Aladdin for a short but wonderful stay at Hostel Fort Side. His colorful accomodation with a touch of authentic Rajasthani flavour and his friendly demeanor and amusing stories made Jaislamer unforgettable! :)

If you are a backpacker, go for Hostel Fort Side. No regrets guaranteed!

We were there on December and it wasn't the best choice. We arrive late, because the train got delay 3 hours, and though they did confirm to pick us up to the train station, they weren't there. After that, we managed to got the hotel, the guy that received us was sleeping and just gave us a room in the first floor that seems to be the room that the staff uses, because the bathroom wasn't clean and the towels were used. It was like 3am at this point so we just wanted to go to bed. The next day, for breakfast, when we booked this hotel, we were given the choice to include breakfast for 100rp, that was just black tea and plain toast, that if we just ordered in the moment would cost us 50rp!! Really bad experience!
